March 15th --- The Ides of March.......

Most folks think that March 15th, and the expression 'Beware the Ides of March" sprang forth with the blood of Julius Caesar when stabbed by Brutus right in the middle of his Forum.....

Not so, sez I..... this is also the date that Christopher Columbus sailed back to Spain from the New World in 1493~  He din't know where he'd been, he didn't bring back gold, tea or incense -- but using other people's money - he spread the word and tourists flocked to this new vacay scene!

Like most great new heretofore hidden habitats - the tourists ruined it, the Native Americans started passing immigration laws to no avail - and the precedent for open borders was begun.... and has continued to the Oval Office to this day!
