I couldn't decide on the title for this post....

I was torn between:

HOW SOON THEY FORGET THE TWIN TOWERS!!!

              and/or 

DIVERSITY, THY NAME IS DEATH

So, why my confusion? I read today that in the name of diversity, the New York City Fire Department is lowering lessening eliminating their strength and physical ability requirements for new lady Firefighter Cadets. 

So, Mr & Mrs New York, when that fire breaks out on the 3rd floor of your townhouse, or in your 4th floor tenement apartment, be of good cheer! That cute little 5'2" Fire Fighteress climbing the ladder toward your window may not be strong enough or flexible to help you and your kids to safety -- but by God -- and Bill de Blasio, she'll have a nice smile and wish you well in your escape activity. 

She'll probably have a list and a map to lead you to safety as long as you don't need to lean on her ........

Caveat - this is no chauvinist rant or misogynist put down -- the distaff firefighters can be every bit as brave and willing as their male counterparts, but this is life and death, real time emergency requirements. Not a practice in social diversity. 

I'd be willing to bet, having seen it before, that some of these lasses will be put on the fast track for promotion ahead of their peers, to make the NYFD's numbers and public relations pictures look ...... well - you know...... "like more diverse!"
