Big Sis and Homeland Security sure ain't.
First a bit of background for those of you Rip Van Winkles out there. I know you are all familiar with the name of Brian Terry (even if ex-speaker Pelosi ain't) who died in a shoot out with Mexican drug runners armed with automatic weapons (compliments of guess who and his DOJ).
One of the causes for Border Patrol Agent Terry's demise - was obviously the rules of engagement (ROE) under which the BP operates. It states clearly that when faced with armed resistance, first fire 'bean bags' before using real ammunition. In Terry's death, he and two other agents, when faced with those recalcitrant rascals who refused to put their weapons down -- fired two bean bags at them. Instead of throwing up their hands in surrender, they opened fired with their assault weapons. Brian Terry died in the gun fire.
Now fast forward to last week -- the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has promulgated a computer use mandatory training program which demands that when a Border Patrol Agent encounters an 'unfriendly' in the work space or a public place he should...
A. Evacuate (run like hell)
B. Hide out (if you can't run like hell)
C. Throw things (if your life is in imminent danger, attempt to disrupt the shooter) hmm - maybe hurl insults along with pencils...
