Time was, United States citizenship was one of the most valued rights in the world.....

So it's interesting to note that last year, 1800 American citizens renounced their citizenship and the rights that attend that status. Yep, most of 'em did it to avoid having to pay Obamanation and the IRS's bite on their earnings abroad..... but still. There must be other compelling reasons. Not many countries tax their citizens for income they earn abroad and spend abroad.... but still.

Now I hear that the Senate just this week, passed Barbara Boxer (Dim, CA) Bill with the cutsie name "Moving Ahead for Progress in the 21st Century Act" (aka - MAP-21) which allow the IRS to 'revoke or deny' a US Passport for a US citizen if they deem there to be 'unpaid taxes' or 'tax delinquencies'. The Bill is on the way to the House!

So, just for fun, - how about this scenario; you are a professional golfer. In 2010 you earned $500,000 on the American PGA tour and $1,500,000 on the European and Asian tours. You are arguing with the IRS over your tax liabilities.

Under this new law, as I understand it, the IRS will be able to arbitrarily and without the due process guaranteed by our constitution, have your Passport lifted. You may not leave the United States and earn your living.

What to do -- hmmm, how about opening door #1 up there in the lead paragraph.. btw, I have heard rumors that Warren Buffett and the IRS are arguing over a billion tax dollar liability accumulated over the last ten years. Do any of you think for a nano-second that the IRS will be lifting his PassPort this Spring? Neither do I!!

What a country this is becoming!!

{under the heading of Congressional pettifoggery, be advised that the original purpose of this bill, SB 1813 was to "reauthorize Federal-aid highway and highway safety construction programs, and for other purposes".}
