Winners of the Al Gorebot "Out on a Limb" Award

Two daring Canadians, have made themselves instant candidates for the annual, 'Al Gorebot - Out on a Limb' Award. How did they achieve this, you ask? I'll tell you....

Shawn Marshall, an associate professor of geography at the University of Calgary, and Nathan Gillett (of) Environment Canada, have predicted --- are you sitting down.... here goes;

That unless every human on the planet stops creating carbon dioxide by the end of this year, the West Antarctic Ice sheet will collapse and seas will rise by 13 feet! And just when will this happen, you ask? According to Marshall and Gillett, it will happen by the year 3000 AD!!!!!

Whoa Nellie! In a mere 989 years! Are these lads risking it all - or what.....

Heck, I remember when Jeanne Dixon used to predict the future one year at a time, was wrong most of the time, but nobody ever checked. Any of you pilgrims want to plant a Time Capsule with this daring prediction in it, to be opened by the citizens of 3000 AD to check on these dudes and their predictions? I thought not.

And I'm not gonna rush out and buy wood for an ark just yet either!! Hmm, I wonder if these guys are selling plans for suchlike?
