Ann Coulter, who unfortunately has been off her normal stage mark lately and fighting individual political races instead of political institutions - which is her forte`, is front and center this week.
In laying out the phony thinking of the hand-wringing, self-congratulatory liberals in the media and politics when they oppose the death penalty but support abortions - she does a handsome job. Dare I say 'adding transparency' to their thinking..
"Maybe they —[the NY Tiimes] - and MSNBC’s similarly high-minded Rachel Maddow — should
comfort themselves by thinking of Lockett’s execution as a very, very,
very late-term abortion. You know, the kind that liberal darling Wendy
Davis filibustered for 11 hours to keep legal.
Since Rachel and the Times are such big fans of
partial-birth abortion, would they mind if we took a gigantic pair of
scissors, jammed them in the back of Clayton Lockett’s head and let his
brain slide out? Let’s get Kermit Gosnell working again!"
Her second great point in this weeks column is to point out the Supreme Court's definition of "cruel & unusual punishment" as something that offends society's "evolving sense of decency." She then poses the question........ if Oklahoma brought back the firing squad for capital punishment and asked for volunteers to participate in instances like the recent execution of Clayton Lockett - he who after a life time of vicious crime, was convicted of raping and burying alive -- a sixteen year old girl - and received a truckload of volunteers from Oklahoma society -- wouldn't that meet the court's standard of societal acceptance?
I sure can't disagree with that position. It's a thought provoking column that will get your blood stirring, if not boiling! Welcome Back Annie!
