The dog ate my homework.......

I was gonna use the old "Dog ate my homework" excuse for being missing in action this weekend.  But I cannot tell a lie...

The bi-annual Ryder Cup Tournament up in Medinah Golf Club in Chicagoland totally distracted me.  I suffered guilt pangs every now about ignoring my other chores, but about that time, somebody would do something heroic or colossally stupid -- like almost make a Hole-in-one or shank into the trees off the Tee like a 36 weekend handicapper. I just couldn't tear myself away to write something that my mind wasn't truly into.....

So.... like we used to say back in the day, NO EXCUSE SIR!!

Actually, watching the Singles matches yesterday was living a little bit of history!!  Golf fans will be talking for years about the Meltdown at Medinah.  The Yanks were in a can't lose situation - going into the Sunday matches with a 4 point lead, 10-6.  All they needed to win the cup was 4½ points out of twelve match points to win the Ryder Cup back.

And they couldn't even do that!

It was a sorry affair to watch I tell ya'! The team captain sent the rookies out against Europe's best and they got whupped properly. Then the senior citizens of America's team went out, Furyk, Stricter and Woods.....   and folded like a cheap camera in the middle of a bad shot...

Hell, General Eisenhower picked D Day,  chose Normandy, devised the attack plan and executed it  - in less time than Furyk and Stricter lined up their errant putts on the last couple of holes. They gave a whole new meaning to that old poker proverb, "You think long - you think wrong!"

Time to promote Assistant Captain Boom Boom Fred or bring Jack Nicklaus out of retirement before 2014!!

Okay, enough whining -- back to the foolishness in Washington and around the world....
