I was reading an old article from Fortune Magazine (July 5 2011) this morning that was discussing new gob'mint mandates for fuel economy levels -- some such foolishness as averaging 62.5 mpg by 2025........
What caught my eye was this sentence, statement:
"Drivers in other countries have an incentive to drive more efficient cars because of higher fuel prices. In the U.S., we subsidize gas consumption by keeping taxes low."
How in Sam Hill did this reporter come to the determination that NOT taxing something is akin to 'subsidizing' it? I'd expect this kind of thinking from a Al Gorebot, or an Chris Mathews.... but Fortune Magazine? Give me a break.....
Because of EPA fiats, I am already forced to flush my toilet at least twice to accomplish it's purpose, whenever I buy a new shower head I have to dissemble it to allow enough water to pass through to get wet, I have to wash out my Campbell's soup cans so they can go into 'wrap' instead of trash.
Now they are saying that in 2025, I'll have to strap a rice burning roller skate on my butt for transportation.. Didn't anybody ever hear of the law of supply and demand? It's worked well for thousands of years in all kinds of countries when gob'mints let it!
As a parting shot, I heard just the other day that Ford is going to stop producing the most popular affordable pick-em-up truck in America, the F-150, because of the 2016 fuel economy rules.
I wonder how many MPG's those limos', SUV's and Lear Jets get that transport these elitists around the world?
