Politics make strange bedfollows indeed!!

Yesterday, Kentucky had their annual 'Fancy Farm' picnic.. a once a year political get together of thousands  that's been going on since 1880. (ostensibly to raise money for churches)....

Anyway - to the point -- obviously incumbent Senator McConnell and his opponent, 'Foot-in Mouth' Grimes traded barbs... but Senator Rand Paul surprised everybody with his little six minute speech when he offered the following poetry:

There once was a woman from Kentucky,
who thought in politics she’d be lucky,”
“So she flew to L.A. for a Hollywood bash.
She came home in a flash with buckets of cash.

“To liberals, she whispers: coal makes you sick.
In Kentucky, she claims coal makes us tick.
“To the liberals, she sells her soul –
 the same ones who hate Kentucky coal.

“One thing we know is true, one thing we know is guaranteed,
she’d cast her first vote for Harry Reid.
“Grimes’ real pledge is to Obama; her first vote is to Reid;
as for Kentucky, if that happens, it’s too bad indeed

Amazing part of it is to me, two years ago when Rand Paul ran for his KY senate seat..... McConnell led the group that favored his opponent...  I reckon gaining control of the Senate comes before old angsts... eh?
