There are many reasons to dislike or at least, not admire, that great progressive of the last century, President Woodrow Wilson. I would submit, that in addition to his other failures, his greatest negative legacy was his return to the personally delivered 'State of the Union' address to congress each January or February. A practice wisely discontinued by Thomas Jefferson in 1801.
Last evening, as I was NOT watching Obamanation repeat the Chinese Fortune cookie cliches of the last four years (I opted to watch Pawn Stars and discover the current value of a 1794 Sharpes Buffalo Gun, of much more import) I silently cursed that POTUS of a hundred years ago.
Two hours plus of prime time posing and posturing by our Washington ruling class and the network sycophants sucking up to them. Nothing new was offered (I checked this morning), no new coming together occurred, bid'ness as usual. The Parties blame each other, the deficit continues, the National debt rises, and his BO'ness and Michell Antoinette get to fawn over some luckless people "props", about whom they will never meet or ask about again!
This annual charade has all the pomp, ceremony, and deep meaning of the Queen's annual address to the British Parliament. At least she was honest, and called one year, "annus horribilis"...... of course that was all about her and her wayward kids. Not the state of the nation. Come to think of it, wasn't Obamanation's speech much the same.... folks jest ain't payin' him no never-mind like they should!
But like most narcissists in high places, he'll get us for that bad attitude eventually!
