Si Se Puede!!!

Hey Partners -  this being the month before elections, it's the one time when you sometimes get to actually meet your congressmen - senators in person. They come, ask for your vote - and then you see them again two (or six) years later.

The reason I point this out is it seems like an ideal time to ask them why Congress is sitting on it's collective behinds and letting Department of Homeland Security (DHS) blow them off (waggle that upright middle finger) and ignore requests for information.  DHS has twice 'missed' a deadline to explain why - when US immigration laws specifically state that immigrants must prove that they won't become public charges  - i.e.,  Food Stamps, Unemployment, Social Security, Welfare, Medicaid, .....

- Only 7,069 applicants were found ineligible out of 10,370,000 applicants processed by the State Department.  That would be .068 percent!!

"Further, the net percentage of all visa applications denied on public charge grounds, subtracting those who were able to overcome the finding for fiscal year 2011 (as applicants can reapply), was just .003 percent. Thus, for those applications deemed to be inadmissible on the already finite definition of becoming dependent on the American government, nearly as many were able to overcome the finding." That picture on the right is the L.A. training and orientation seminar conducted by the Humane Immigrant Rights group - to determine if they qualify for temporary work permits.   The slogan on the groups wall banner, from back in Cesar Chavez's days, 'Si Se Puede', literally means 'Yes We Can!'

Seems to me that there ought to be some banners hanging in the State Department and DHS headquarters with banners that read: "No No Se Puede!"  - No You Can't.

Seems to me like our coffers are getting a little empty to be taking in millions of new 'public charges' each year. What happens when China cuts up our credit card?
