Let me say a word about that......

.... and the word I might use in the context of this election year might be any one of several:

Meme comes to mind --- never heard it before this last year or two - now I see it every day in a dozen places. I still have to look it up on Wiki every now and then because of it's many uses.

Walkback is another popular word. It used to be an intransitive verb having something to do with block and tackles. Now, it's the replace phrase for curing a gaffe, screw up, or other political promise. See also - back pedal.

Optics - are in the picture now. Used to be political candidates searched for photo ops, or PR photos, or candid snapshots. Now however, it's a game of presenting the right Optics..... ?

I reckon this game of 'newspeak' will go on long after Orwell's 1984 is forgotten in the dustbin of time, along with petticoats, belts, fedoras and family rated TV broadcasting.
