While reading an NBC report (that network famed for it's accuracy in reporting) this morning, I came across this lead paragraph:
"CAIRO – There is a local advertisement in the arrivals hall at Cairo International Airport. The ad shows a picture of Egypt's iconic Tahrir Square, packed during the revolution, with a quote from U.S. President Barack Obama: "We should raise our children to be like Egyptian youth.”
The quote from Obama was shortly after Egyptians had revolted and toppled long-time dictator and American ally Hosni Mubarak."
I don't recall a single Obama - State of the Union Address, or even a weekly Saturday radio speech - when he was encouraging American children to be 'more like Egyptian youth'. Do you?
And if so, what attributes and characteristics should they ape?
Stoning Christians? Beating their wives? Burning Churches? Revolting against the sitting government? Discriminating against women, gays, non-Muslims, rioting in the streets?
I'm stumped -- what do you reckon he meant? The Egyptians are sure proud of him saying it.....
