The late, great sports writer Dan Cook, of San Antonio, Texas, coined a phrase in his own manner many years ago..... he was speaking of a highly contested sporting event when he said, "The opera ain't over 'til the fat lady sings!' We all know that phrase now --- and the 'Fat Lady' sang in Wisconsin yesterday.
Unfortunately (or maybe - fortunately) the occupants of the White House appear to be tone deaf and blind. As 'still' Governor Scott Walker was giving his classy and embracing victory speech, the Obama Campaign put out a petulant statement which began:
"While tonight’s outcome was not what we had hoped for – no one can dispute the strong message sent to Governor Walker. Hundreds of thousands of Wisconsinites from all walks of life took a stand against the politics of division and against the flood of secret and corporate money spent on behalf of Scott Walker...." (click here for the rest, I won't waste the ink)
I don't reckon that they noticed that Walker won by seven points - 51% to 44% , a first class whupping! Or that Walker gained more than 200,000 votes MORE than he received when first elected in 2010!
This, from the President of ALL the people, ALL the States. Oh wait, he's having his DOJ sue, AZ, FL, and how many other of those states ..... hmm. Well, maybe he's the President of Some of the people in Some of the States. Once a community organizer - always a community organizer, I reckon.
We can only hope that this Full Figured Operatic Soloist gets fully warmed up so that by the time the polls close on November 6th - she can really belt out an aria that even BO and his team can hear and listen to as they pack to go back to Chicagoland!
