Whenever a Dim President needs to fill an important position in the government with somebody who will toe the line, follow orders, and never - ever think for himself, they call on good ole' Leon Panetta.
Well, Pilgrims, it appears that a Washington environmental defense fund group needed a guest speaker the other evening. All the grown-ups were busy, so Panetta the Patsy filled the bill. His comments, coming from the sitting Secretary of Defense, were what his audience wanted to hear, I reckon:
"The area of climate change has a dramatic impact on national security, rising sea levels, severe droughts, the melting of the polar caps, the more frequent and devastating natural disasters all raise demand for humanitarian assistance and disaster relief."
Apparently he didn't get the memo that even the doom and gloom experts are reversing their positions on global warming, or at least hedging them. Heck, studies have shown a boom in polar bear growth, not a reduction. Glaciers are growing not going.
And the man at the helm of the greatest, most powerful and technically capable armed forces on the planet - stood with straight face and voiced those words to these in attendance.
To understand the inanity of the statement however, y'all have to keep in mind that his true mission was to recruit the Fund Folks to help push the Senate into ratifying the 'United Nations Convention on Law of the Sea' which has been foundering (pun intended) since the early 1990's.
His persuasive reasons -- 'Geez, everybody else is signing on to it!'
If this act is scary enough - he finished his talking by sharing the fact that they are striving to make the US Military more green --- Jeeps made by Volt? (all battles will be within 25 miles) Hybrid driven ships?
“We are investing another billion dollars to make our installations here at home more energy-efficient, and we are using them as the test bed to demonstrate next-generation energy technologies.”
I guess if American businesses and citizens won't buy these overpriced, underpowered green systems, BO and his boys will buy them and force them on the DOD!
