....On Political civility......

I don't know about you Pilgrims, but I'm sick and damned tired of hearing all the mealy mouthed whining and handwringing over the lack of 'civility' in our modern day politics. Shucks, compared to events in this great country's short history -- folks are plumb pleasant nowadays...

Folks seem to forget that the US of A was in it's infancy when the former Secretary of the Treasury Alexander Hamilton and the sitting Veep, Aaron Burr shot it out in a duel in 1804. Hamilton was mortally wounded and the Federalist Party which he led, soon disappeared. (Google for yourself - it's interesting reading)

That my friends, was the 'civil, well mannered times' to which our wussy friends on the left would like us to return. Everybody seemed to be running around participating in duels... whenever they felt slighted by the other party.

We may have the occasional sicko/wack job running around with a handgun today, but our politicians only attack each other with adjectives -- not dueling pistols. Not even a decent case of fisticuffs.

Hmmm, from what I've seen of the two of them, if Obamanation and Sarah Palin were called to 'toe the line', I wonder which of them would be the no show.... Just kidding folks, I don't really wonder..... I've got a pretty good idea.

Sarah would be standing there in her mukluks and BO would send Rahm to stand in for him. Rahm would stand behind Biden who would duck behind Schumer would would hide behind the MSNBC camera man on the scene...... the first time Schumer ever crouched behind a camera instead of leaping in front of it.

I wonder if our present day politicians ever take enough time away from reading their press clippings to read a little of American History?
