Texas sets the standard...... again

A lot of folks accuse Texans of bragging too much. They say that we exaggerate and up-size all of our accomplishments.... I say psshaw!!! What ever your states can do, ours can do worser!

Take education for example, we've discussed the 'dumbing down' in American Education standards. Well, let me tell you - you folks got nothin' on Texas.. Yesterdays Metro section of the local rag ran the following headlines:

Principal leaves after 4 years

She says academic woes aren't reason she's leaving.

Here is the story. Texas schools are rated each year on their academic performance. For four years out of five years, the high school that this principal ran - was designated: "academically unacceptable"! You may be asking yourself, is the fact that it has just been announced that the school year just completed this month, her High School will again be designated unacceptable, the reason this Principal is resigning a year before her contract is up? Nope, nossir, and uh uh!

"Principle Melonie Iglehart-Hammonds is leaving Sam Houston High School to become SENIOR COORDINATOR at the 'Texas Turnaround Center', which aims to turn around 'struggling' schools!

Yep --- and there ain't a word I'm gonna add!! Have we Texans got bragging rights or what!!!!!
