Back in the 50's, there used to be a standing joke that a newborn baby cries because he is born cold, naked and owing $1300 of the national debt! That was when there were only 140 million Americans as well.
Just read this today in Gingrich Cushman's column in Townhall.....
"At the end of 2008 the U.S. debt was $10 trillion, equating to $32,599 for every person in the United States. While Obama talks about cutting the deficit in half in his proposed budget, his budget reflects an increase in debt to $16 trillion at the end of 2012. Based on U.S. Census data, this will equate to $51,137 per person. While he is cutting the deficit in half, he is increasing the debt by 62%. "
And that's with 300 million Americans splitting the tab! Any of you Pilgrims wanna guess how this joke will read when your grandchildren start having babies?
I thought not!! Kinda gives a whole new meaning to that expression, "You've come a long way baby!", doesn't it.
