Speaking of oil shortages....

.... love him or hate him -- Cal Thomas often says things out loud that most others just mumble under their breath - here are a few of his thoughts on our current oil and gasoline situation.

This information is partly from an article written by Cal Thomas who is known for his hard nosed objectivity and honesty.

The Democrats say punish big oil for their profits. Wrong! Last year,Chevron alone spent 20 billion on new sources of energy. Cal says this is political expediency at its worst.

The last oil refinery built in the U.S. was in 1976. The Democrats, liberals and environmentalists block new ones.

U.S. oil production has fallen 40 percent since 1985. There would be plenty of oil available in the U.S. if allowed to get it. Eighty five percent of off-shore oil is off limits to drilling. Blocked by the liberals. Off-shore drilling is safe. Over 1000 offshore rigs were destroyed during hurricanes Katrina and Rita yet not one leaked. In fact, oil rigs have proven to be fish habitats.

There are 112 BILLION barrels of oil accessible to the U.S. which is more than enough to run 60 million cars for 60 years. The outer continental shelf of the U.S. contains 86 billion barrels of oil and 420 TRILLION cubic feet of natural gas. The environmentalists and liberals argue that it will take 10 years for new oil to be brought to market.

Had president Clinton not vetoed exploration in the Arctic national Wildlife Refuge (ANWAR) in 1995, when oil was 19 dollars a barrel, America would currently be receiving more than 1 million barrels a day from domestic production. Money that would not be going to the Arabs to subsidize terrorism. (It will NOT take ten years!)

Please note that the arguments of the environmentalists and liberals are that "something may happen", or "possibly happen." if we drill for oil. Folks, the facts are that nothing has happened. Not one caribou has died from oil drilling in Alaska. Their feeding and migration routes have not changed. NOTHING HAS HAPPENED. It is the same in Denmark,Norway, England, and Australia. The argument doesn't hold up, but they are still using it.

Ted Kennedy will not permit electricity generating windmills to be installed in the sea because they would mar the view from his estate.

Californians and Floridians will not permit over the horizon off shore drilling. Yet, it is all the fault of the big oil companies. Yet the Chinese are! Enjoy your high priced gas and thank a Democrat for your predicament.

Gas prices have risen $1.50 a gallon since the Dem's took over Congress and Reid and Pelosi promised a new life! And Pilgrims, if you think it's tough out there now -- wait 'til those Dems get larger majorities in both houses this fall..... and God help us all if we have the 'most liberal Senator in Congress, that empty suit - Obamanation in the White house!!! Ole Pecoz doesn't lay all the blame on the Dem's, there are a few RINO's involved as well...!

What are you doing about it this fall?
