WFB - RIP

We lost a great American last week. William F Buckley was a one man band in moving the conservative movement from the era of stiff necked red necks and bankers to the comfortable and accepted arena that it fills today. We all knew him as erudite and charming -- a killer debater, and totally committed to people in general.

He was one of a kind. Putting it another way, he and his National Review made Ronald Reagan possible.....!


What few of us knew is that he served as an Army officer in WWII, a CIA agent for three years in the early '50's and authored more than fifty books and manuals in his career. Above all things - he liked people ...... ALL people--!

eek that Buckley's favorite expression (not his own) was: "Only one man in a thousand is a bore, he is interesting because he is one person in a thousand." What a concept to live by.....
