That Was The Week That Was.......

..... aka TW3, was a popular program back in early '60's. Starring David Frost , actually it made him a household name and established him as an erudite, witty, interviewer. For you Children out there, the program poked fun at the events of the week and poked holes in the pomposity of elected officials.....and the silliness of events. I ain't into remakes of old programs and movies, but I sure do think this would be an ideal time to resurrect this style program ---IF---- and it's a big if, it could be done even handedly and not turn into an obscene tool like that Maher feller does it on HBO. Just look at this last week....

- A Golf Channel commentator suggested jokingly that members of the PGA might want to take Tiger Woods out and lynch him 'cause he's so good. She apologised, Tiger saw it as a non-issue and the Chief Charlatan Sharpton stepped in and Kelly Tighman got suspended for two weeks.
- Then Golf Week Magazine came out with an ominous looking noose on it's front cover -- poor taste yes -- but again the rabblerousers jumped in and the editor that approved the cover has been fired.
- Hillary & Bubba tag-team on Obama and get the entire black community on their heads.
- Hillary appeared on that fount of intellectual information, the Tyra Banks show, and states; "I never doubted Bill's love for me... never!"
- Huckleberry suspected of casting aspersions on "Shamnesty" McCai
n's military bona fides and he gets fragged.
-Now President Bush has addressed the nation and suggested that a zillion dollar 'stimulus' bill is in order and tax money should be refunded to tax payers. Before the echoes finished reverberatin', the Dems started screaming that such a program would be unfair, 'cause them that don't pay taxes -- wouldn't get a refund. Duh? And worse -- he said it first instead of giving them credit for thinkin' of it.
- Finally on a smaller personal scale - a military alumni association Family Site I belong to set up a simple poll, naming the 3 Dem's and 5 Republicans still in the race and as soon as the one or two left leaning members (out of hundreds) saw how the voting was going --- got the poll pulled off the site!

What a week! And it's only Friday. Pay attention networks - with programs like the Colbert Report and The Daily Show getting good ratings, it might just be time to bring TW3 back to the airways!
If you spot something in the news this week that would fit into next Friday's TW3 on this Blog, send it to "Pecozbill@aol.com" . Thanks y'all.
