All of a sudden, it's a horse race.........

......for more than a year now (and with the presidential election still a year away) we have been bombarded with daily polls on how the candidates of the two parties are doing. Not one vote has been cast in a primary, run off or national election, but the pundits (read unknowing talking-heads) beat us up every night with that day's polling results.
Like I give a damn what some corn farmer in Iowa thinks about the relative merit difference between Hellery and Obama .... or Guliani and Thompson! I wake up in the middle of the night in a cold sweat because some rock hound in New Hampshire has switched from Biden to Edwards or from Huckabee to Romney.... Whee doggies, these races are like a fast food industry, not a political race! Candidates are the soup du jour and the pundits are the hamburger flippers! No skills, just the same old hamburgers over and over and over!

Then they get so desperate they start handicapping the Veep sweepstakes --- I guess this is the journalist's equivalent to; "Do you want fries with that?" Is Richardson sucking up to Hellery for the VP job--- does Guliani need a past Governor like Huckabee for Veep. Makes ya' nuts! Member all the "gravitas!" questions in the George W's first race. It was the word of the day --- no it was the word of the year before the election .... dumber than turkeys, the lot of 'em! I'm talking about the news readers - not the candidates.

The candidates are half smart! They spend a couple of years running around the country while drawing their pay from their full time jobs in the Senate or wherever, travel on OPM (other peoples money) get treated like rock stars, and even if they lose, they get to keep the change. Write books and otherwise contribute nothing to the national well being. There is a word that comes to mind.... but I reckon parasite is a bit heavy ... so I won't say it.....
