TREASON - This word imports a betraying, treachery, or breach of allegiance. The Constitution of the United States, Art. III, defines treason against the United States to consist only in levying war against them, or in adhering to their enemies, giving them aid or comfort. This offence is punished with death. By the same article of the Constitution, no person shall be convicted of treason, unless on the testimony of two witnesses to the same overt act, or on confession in open court.
The following words were uttered on the Floor of the U.S. Senate by the Senior Senator from the State of NY regarding news of the success of the US Army's recent surge in Iraq:
“And let me be clear, the violence in Anbar has gone down despite the surge, not because of the surge. The inability of American soldiers to protect these tribes from al Qaeda said to these tribes we have to fight al Qaeda ourselves. It wasn’t that the surge brought peace here. It was that the warlords took peace here, created a temporary peace here.”
Senator Schumer (hot damn!, even using that title with his name leaves a sour taste in my mouth) voted for invading Iraq, he voted for General Patreous and his plan for victory. Now that they are making progress.... he is obviously so livid that the U.S. might be successful that he forgets hisself.
Sorry folks, I am so P.O.'d that I can't even bring myself to place a cartoon or a picture of this 21st Century Benedict Arnold in here... Read that definition and the his words "for the record" one more time.... Whaddaya think... maybe an e-mail to your Senator or Congressperson? A letter to the editor of your home town? No need to call his office, you know he ain't pick'n up on the phone!
