Too Little --- Too Late?

Ole' Pecoz has been watching with interest and admiration, the movements across the Country to help transport the elderly Veterans of WWII to Washington D.C. to visit the World War II Veterans Memorial recently dedicated. We are losing these Vet's at the rate of 1500 per day, and now the country finally realizes the debt that is owed...

How little! How late! Hold on there Buckaroos, I ain't disparaging those good folks that are doing these good deeds --- but....

I find it both telling, and unsettling, that:

The Vietnam Veteran's Memorial was completed and dedicated by a country with a conscience problem to salve on Nov 13, 1982, just nine years after the Jan 23, 1973 "Peace Accords"

The Korean Veteran's Memorial was completed and dedicated on July 27, 1995, forty-two years after the July 1953 "Cease Fire" was signed..

Here is a picture of a my cousin, "Stan" who served on the USS Hurlbert at Pearly Harbor.... he didn't live long enough to see the Memorial!! How many others did not make it as well?

But it took until May 29, 2004, to complete and dedicate the Memorial to the Veterans of WWII, which ended on VJ Day 2 Sept 1945, Unconditional Victory Day, after a war that cost 300,000 KIA and 700,000 WIA. FORTY-NINE YEARS LATER!

But you didn't see WWII Vets making themselves out as 'victims' and marching in the streets to demand this Memorial!!

Truly - "the GREATEST GENERATION"!
