The PGA FedEx Cup run is over ------ yawwwnnnn!

I had several e-mails from old bud's that know I am a former duffer and a pretty avid fan of TV golf now that I can't play anymore: "Pecoz", they axed, "How come you ain't made any comment about this big four tournament playoff for this very first PGA FedEx Cup they been hyping all year?"
Well, to be honest with you folks, I've been tryin' since it ended Sunday afternoon to discuss it , but frankly it was so damned boring -- I get to yawning so bad whenever I think about it- my eyes start watering and I can't see the keyboard! Callin' this event a playoff is like calling John Kerry a war hero! It's was all hyperbole - not even good smoke and mirrors!

Let's see now - in this so called playoff of four tournaments, eventual Cup winner Tiger Woods skipped the first (but didn't forfeit) came in 5th in the second and won the last two. Steve Stricker won the first, placed well in the other three and came in second. Lefty Mickelson won the second one, skipped the third (but didn't forfeit) is still playing the fourth and came in third. Rory Sabbatini was on the course for all four tourneys but didn't win any and came in fourth, and finally K J Choie, bless his heart, pulled up lame for the third (didn't forfeit) and tied for 21st in the fourth and came in fifth!

I don't know if you followed all that -- you probably nodded off, but if I said the Dallas Cowboys could win their Division Playoffs, refuse to play in the Conference playoffs, and still win the Superbowl - you'd probably just shake your head and wonder where I lost it. How about if Venus Williams won the quarter-finals, sat out the semi-finals (but didn't forfeit) and then got to play in and won the finals at Wimbleton... huh?

Shucks, now you know why I keep nodding off. Don't know who I feel sorrier for, FedEx who were sold a very expensive load of manure, the talking heads on the golf channel who tried to hype this all year, or the fans - who had heard about it all year and were expecting something great. Warn't no pony under this pile of horse manure!!!
