Guess y'all are pretty excited about this being week two of the FedEx Cup playoffs 'eh? Oh, you're not? Well shazam -- who'da guessed? I guess somebody sold FedEx and the PGA a real bill of goods when they convinced them that they could turn a play off golf tourney into a Major Sports Event equal to the NASCAR Trophy. Like the whole country is on edge whether Tiger Woods can add a $10 million dollar purse to his 2007 winnings of $9 million+ and his endorsement monies of about $90 million more. He is so excited about it, he skipped the first of the four tournament count down himself 'cause he was tired and didn't even bother to show up to support the tour or the cup race.
Don't get me wrong, as a former hacker, I am a big fan and watch the tourneys every week, but I 'spect that the only ones tuning in to the Deutsche Bank Championship this weekend will be fans like myself. Don't see all those high school, college and pro football fans and professional tailgaters changing their weekend schedule to watch a bunch of rich boys hitting a little ball around the course.
A wise man once said; "You can't make a silk purse out of a sows ear!" I reckon today he might add; "You can't make a Superbowl out of a round of golf!" Maybe Tim Finchem never read that.
By the way, if you do miss this great season closing out event(s), you can always watch the six more PGA Tourneys that continue through Sept and October.... go figger!
