The Jury is IN !!!!

Well, I get to join all the morning commuters tomorrow morning and drive down to the County Justice Center to do my duty as a juror! I've been doing this for more years than I care to share with y'all, but find it totally frustrating that in all these years.... I have never -- I say NEVER been empaneled on a jury. I serve merely as a member of the 'cast of thousands' to scare folks into plea bargaining I reckon.

In criminal cases, defendant's lawyers seem to shy away from us retired military folks. Can't understand why. And in civil cases, plaintiff's lawyers give a thumbs down to those of us who suffered an accidental death in the family and didn't sue someone.

Oh well, at least the pay is good, six dollars a day and all I have to pay for is $9 for gas, $8 for parking, and lunch. Hmmm, maybe if I tell 'em I'm a high school dropout, on welfare, never had a job and have joined in six class action law suits....? Nah, better not, then some unhappy juror would be sitting in judgement of me in a couple of weeks.
