At the local level (where all politics begin) Eric Cantor found out what happens when you spend more time (and money) in steakhouses with lobbyists than in constituent's houses back in your district. They tossed him!
Do the GOP members of the House of Representatives get the message? I think not!!
Instead of replacing the first sitting House Majority Leader to be whipped by his own voters with a fresh, conservative face, like Hensarling of Texas, they are about to elect Californian liberal republican (he doesn't deserve a capital R) Kevin McCarthy to the position. Hensarling's conservative bona fides appear to be somewhere between moderate and nil!
Apparently Representative Raul Labrador, R-ID, is the only man (or woman) in the House GOP caucus with a set of cajones large enough to challenge Mr Moderate....
Seems to me, that the American Republican voters (and even some of Reagan's Democrat voters) are making it very clear that they are tired of big gob'mint, uncaring congress, and the status quo.
So why isn't the desperate (and disparate) Republican party hearing them??
