Thoughts on the upcoming Memorial Day Weekend ---

First off, let me get this Memorial Day Weekend thing off my chest!   To this old vet, Memorial Day always has been and always will be May 30th! Not some damned convenient Monday toward the end of May to create yet another three day weekend for the banks and federal feather merchants to go out and play!

Okay - that's out of the way!

Secondly - folks in this country, including the majority of elected leadership that never wore the uniform by the way, seem to have forgotten that Memorial Day (formerly known as Decoration Day) was created to REMEMBER, HONOR AND OTHERWISE MEMORIALIZE THOSE UNIFORMED VETERANS WHO DIED IN THE SERVICE OF THEIR COUNTRY.

What it is not - is Veterans Day, which was created to celebrate all US military veterans.

Now then, I realize that the day has been taken prisoner by the commercial and gob'mint interests to kick start summer play time in this country - and that's just the way of it.  So be it.

I reckon this particular Memorial Day might provide a window into the soul of the current occupant of the Oval Office. I'm hearing whispers around the campfires that perhaps our Teleprompter Reader in Charge might use the occasion to address the current (and growing) obscene Veteran Administration Scandal in this country. If he does.....

If he does, it will be a reflection of with just how little meaning he and his speech writing minions regard this most hallowed of Military Holidays. After all, the Veterans Administration is about serving living Veterans across the nation, not the dead.  Granted, the VA administers the national cemeteries and tracks those buried in them....  but that's not where the current scandal lies (pardon the pun),

So, if Himself comes off the golf course long enough to address the Nation next Monday - it will be extremely telling to hear his message.

I may even listen for a change..... I stopped listening to him during his thousandth speech and ten thousandth lie!

I'll get back to y'all on this topic - I'm sure.
