More smoke & mirrors..... or a step in the right direction?

The headline on the article in TheHill.com reads, "Pentagon to close 21 facilities in Europe"

Finally, sez I!  And a long time coming....  then I read the first paragraph which states:

"The Pentagon announced Friday it was closing down 21 military facilities in Europe, a move the Department said would save $60 million annually."

$60 Million --- SIXTY MILLION? Hell, the DOD spends $60 million on yard maintenance at the Pentagon...  that's chump change, so what's up wit dat?

The truth outs itself in paragraph #3....:

"The closures are comprised mostly of recreational and housing facilities at U.S. and NATO military bases across Europe, such as a skeet shooting range, a hotel and a golf course. But some munitions storage facilities will also be shuttered."

Ahh so! (my Oriental friends would say) or The Penny Drops (my Brit friends would say)....  DOD is gonna shut down a couple rec areas. screw the troops and take the credit for saving us money while forcing the troops to spend those Greenbacks in the local economy!!

Eisenhower and his 'stop the gold flow' crew must be spinning in their graves...   

Whatta country ---  I wonder whose foreign capitalist crony is getting the brother-in-law deal on these properties!!!
