During my life I have adjusted from writing on lined yellow pads to banging on manual typewriters. Then on to electric typewriters. From typewriters I graduated to dictating to secretaries taking shorthand. Then along came PC's and I was back to keying in my own copy and letters -- and letting the secretary format them for me.
All these changes I survived. Now retired I sit here in my little man cave office with two desktop PC's and three screens. One set for research and the other for my book writing .... no problem!
But now.... my son gave me an iPAD and told me, 'Enjoy'!! Enjoy hell, it's driving me nuts -- took me two days to stop getting the screen picture to stop spinning, couple more to learn how to type on that itty bitty touch screen keyboard..... As a friend of mine up on Long Island would say -- Oy Vey!!
And I ain't even gonna tell you what one of my Texas friends would say!!
All I wanted was a machine that would let me download an E-Book either from Amazon, Booklocker when I was in a mood to buy -- or from my city library if I was just gonna borrow it.... that's all!
Now I am cross-eyed, sore wristed, and tired of the whole process...
It gives a whole new meaning to 'programmed obsolescence --- meaning me .... not the machine!!
