Pogo was right -- way back in 1971.....

... I've been cogitating the current condition in this country and have come to the conclusion that Pogo was right 42 years ago when he said, "We have met the enemy and he is us!"

Let me walk you through my thoughts by the numbers:

1. The Constitution grants all legislative authority to the Congress. It directs the POTUS to execute all of that legislation.  It provides  NO legislative authority to Cabinet members, departments or the White House. Nor does it permit the POTUS to unilaterally decide which laws he will or will not enforce.

2. Since WWII, and particularly since the 50's, the Congress has created more and more departments and agencies and has delegated their legislative authority to those departments and agencies in the manner of promulgated regulation.  It has also delegated more and more authority to the POTUS with regard to the dispensing (read spending) of the taxpayer's dollars to the POTUS. While they shorten their own work weeks from six days to five to four to it's current three day week. The remaining four days are devoted to home visits, fund raising, baby kissing, and lobbyist butt kissing. 

3. Each election cycle, a full 90% of each of these congressmen and senators that choose to return for another term of perks and la dolce vita are re-elected by their home voters. Who will then spend the next two or six years decrying the congress -- it currently enjoys a miserable 29% approval rate among the citizens voters of America. (Who will send 90% of them back next year)

4. I rest my case.,, Pogo was right --- !!  When is the American electorate going to wake up and turn things around?
