Last nite, Alan Gilbert, conductor of the NY Philharmonic Orchestra was in the last page of Mahler's "Ninth Symphony when a cell phone went off in the front row.
Gilbert stopped the orchestra, accosted the phone sinner and addressed the audience... who all applauded. It's a great story - and one that should happen more often -
But that's not what gave me my laff for the day... in this computer driven Internet age, the text of any article is 'data-mined' to determine the subject and then 'spot ads' are placed on that page that should attract readers of that particular article.
This article mentioned cell phones and iPhones several times (in a negative sense, however) but just guess what ads popped up all over the page!!!
I 'spect that when the computers of the host of this site data mine this post, cell phone ads will pop up over there on the right.... We'll have to wait and see!!
Meanwhile, click here to go to the article on the orchestra and check out the ads!!!
