Well, dumbest rhetorical question of the year anyway. WTOP's headline asks the question:
"Are Federal Workers Overpaid?"
and then points out in the articles first two paragraphs that the average wage-benefits package for federal employees is $123,049 per year. And the average wage-benefits package for workers in the private area averaged $61,051 in total compensation.
I thought the answer was a little obvious -- but then Gob'mint union officials pointed out that "the gap reflects the growing skills and education needed for most federal jobs, while the gob'mint farms out lower paid jobs to the private sector...!!
Chomp on that for a minute.... I'll link you to the article - but I've pretty well summarized it!
Mr & Mrs America (making $61K) are paying for fed workers who average twice their pay!!
What's wrong with that picture?? Everytime I hear the words "public service" I wanna upchuck!!!
