As I understand it, yesterday the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (accent mine) passed a resolution accusing the Tea Party Movement as Racist. The first thought that comes to mind is that old axiom, 'The pot calling the kettle black!", but I reckon that would be a poor choice of words in this instance.
So instead, I'll just ask how in tarnation does a group, who by their very name is 'racist', let their leadership steer 'em down this garden path.
The obvious intent from the group's racist leadership, is an attempt to continue to factionalize American and it's citizens. This resolution serves no other purpose!
Before I go on, let me link you to this recent Gallup Poll reflecting the demographics of the Tea Party. A very quick glance will show that the membership of the Tea Party is almost the exact replica of the face of the American population -- by age, employment stats, race, education.... across the board...
Here, take a look for yourselves, but be sure to hit that 'Return' arrow and come back now, y'hear?
Now then, I Googled and Googled, and can't find a demographic reflection of the make-up of the NAACP so I can't say for certain that it is less of a match for a cross section of the US population than is the Tea Party, but if I was to venture a wild guess -- I'd reckon that it doesn't! And I said that without grinning. (I did find a whole passel of other folks who have also tried to find these numbers, without success)
In my mind, the NAACP is today's equivalent of the old March of Dimes campaign. When Jonas Salk perfected the vaccine that wiped Infantile Paralysis off of the front pages, they couldn't just shut down. Heck, all those employees and well 'perked' volunteers couldn't just move on. So they had to search for a new mission.
Now that racial discrimination is an echo from the past and is not only illegal in this country, but also ill advised, the paid employees (CEO) and well 'perked' volunteers have to keep on keeping on! Find problems where there are none. Foment distrust when cooperation and friendship rears it's ugly head.....
Now this resolution -- maybe it's time for the Gob'mint to to take another look at the NAACP and see if it still meets the apolitical requirements of a tax free group in this country.....
Dream on Pecoz, ain't gonna happen in your lifetime!!
