Today's headlines provide just one more example of why this is happening.
It appears that a nice young lady, Marita Nelson, swam across the Rio Grande twenty years ago looking for a better life.... she found it in Welfare AmeriKa.. Now the proud single mother of seven children, she has been living on a Social Security Payment, food stamps, Medicaid, federal housing assistance money and putting her kids through school (with free lunches of course) for TWENTY YEARS...
No one is sure how she qualified for Social Security checks, but apparently gob'mint federal assistance recruiters signed her up for a myriad of freebies.....

Just wondering out lout.....
... is this story in the Daily Caller just one of many political horror stories that are going to come out of the woodwork now that the dyke dike has been breached?
Former Illinois state representative Al
Salvi, who ran as a Republican against Democrat Dick Durbin in his
state’s 1996 U.S. Senate race, said that embattled IRS official Lois
Lerner intimidated him in her then-capacity as a Federal Elections
Commission (FEC) official and told him she would drop various complaints
against him if he never ran for office again.
Lerner is currently on administrative leave from her position at the
IRS, where she oversaw groups’ applications for tax-exempt nonprofit
status, and where she admittedly targeted conservative nonprofit groups
for extra scrutiny.
Salvi told Illinois Review this week that he went head-to-head with Lerner after his 1996 electoral loss to Durbin, when she was head of the commission’s Enforcement Division. The FEC hit his campaign committee with a small handful of complaints related to a $1.1 million personal loan he made to his campaign in its final weeks.
Though a federal district court dismissed the case against Salvi, the FEC appealed it to the 7th U.S. District Court of Appeals, and featured Salvi’s case multiple times in the official FEC magazine.
Salvi said that Lerner offered to drop the case if Salvi agreed never to run for office again.
“She said, ‘If you promise to never run for office again, we’ll drop this case,’” Salvi said, noting that he thought Lerner was helping Durbin keep him out of Illinois politics in the future.
The case was eventually dropped in 2000, by which time Salvi had reportedly racked up nearly $100,000 in legal fees. A judge ruled that Salvi’s loan to his own campaign was completely legal, according to Salvi.
“I didn’t plead the Fifth,” Salvi, who went on to become a radio talk show host, told Illinois Review, a reference to Lerner pleading the Fifth Amendment in congressional testimony to avoid incriminating herself in the IRS scandal.
Durbin wrote a 2010 letter requesting that the IRS scrutinize the tax-exempt nonprofit status of conservative groups like Crossroads GPS.

What happens when we all "Get Mad As Hell And Can't Take It Anymore!"?
I'm sure you all remember this famous scene from 'Network', Academy Award winning film from 1976...
It came to my mind this morning when I read a great short column by Daniel Flynn in the May issue of the American Spectator. It's entitled - 'The Welfarians' and begins like this:
The elaborate tattoos on his arms advertised priorities. Tax dollars that ostensibly allow him to feed his face, or the faces of the women, infants, and children in his orbit, really enable him to recolor his body. Perhaps my assumption rests on too many assumptions. For all I know, he could have paid for the intricate ink designs prior to losing his job at Lehman Brothers. Somehow, I doubt it. The man’s expensive sneakers, designer T-shirt, gold chain, and body art bothered me less than his reaction to the clerk’s informing him that one of his items wasn’t covered by the WIC program. Rather than retrieve an acceptable product, he instructed the cashier to fetch it for him. She dutifully returned with a gallon of milk. Whereas the first one presumably didn’t pass muster with the government, the second one didn’t pass muster with him. Flustered, she instructed another worker to exchange the milk for his favorite flavor or brand or whatever. All the while, a late-night line curled into an elongated “L” shape. As he waited for his free milk, we waited at the one open register to pay for our groceries, too, after we paid for his."
I know that y'all, just like me, have stood patiently in checkout lines behind fat young ladies and muscle bound men in their wife beater tank tops, whilst they the used their WIC Checks, SNAP cards, or EBT cards to pay for their T-Bones and Lobster, then begrudgingly pulled out a wad of Twenties to pay for their quality wine selections and cigarettes.
Yup, I have too -- as I glanced into my cart at my cube steaks and pork chops --
I also read this morning that now that unemployment check eligibility is running out for some, ten million folks have now applied for and are receiving (for life) disability checks from the Social Security fund that you and I paid into.
Just yesterday, I read that the head of the IRS made 118 visits to the White House -- more than any other Cabinet member -- but never discussed slowing tax exempt status approval for conservative organizations. Seems like I read that the department's boss, herself personally approved and returned the application for the Barack H Obama fund application sent in by his brother from Kenya or somewhere...
So -- when do we stand up and say... We're madder'n hell? I dunno just yet but was pleased to see that the Gray Lady (NYTimes), Huffington Post, and other liberal media folks are sending their Regrets to AG Holder's invitation to sit in on an off-the-record discussion of media rights and responsibilities....
With Obamacare facing us with 14,000 new IRS agents tromping through our files -- maybe Howard Beale (Peter Finch's anchorman character) was just 35 years ahead of the rest of us. ?????

The words, 'comprehensive' and 'omnibus' should be banned inside the Beltway of Washington DC.
I don't know about y'all, but in my ole' head -- our Congress always seems to create the most mischief when they create so called Comprehensive or Omnibus pieces of legislation.....
I present as Exhibit One - the 2000 page Obamacare comprehensive health care act.
As Exhibits Two to One thousand - the plethora of Omnibus spending bills (which legislators pile everything on, including the $5000 kitchen sinks) passed over the years....
And now, as Exhibit #1001: I present the 'Comprehensive Immigration Reform and for other purposes." proposed Senate Bill S.744. just passed by the Senate Judiciary Committee and sent to the full Senate.... I kid you not --- part of the title is really "and for other purposes"...
I don't reckon I'll cut and paste all 1921 pages of this foolishness, but I dare you to go look at it by clicking here!
Yep, I said 1921 pages...
Why in tarnation don't they pass a: 'Secure the Borders Act'?
Then pass an enforceable and controllable 'Bracero Act'?
And finally pass an acceptable act that will straighten out our whole fouled up immigration/visa system?
Finally - pass appropriate legislation to solve our illegal immigrant population problem?
I guess we all know the reason why -- 'Cause the actions promulgated in each of these bills is dependent on the give and take of the different liberal vs conservative mind sets in the Senate. (those that still have minds under those manes of silver hair, that is)
There has got to be a better way -- and I am moving rapidly into that body of thought that thinks that term limits is the only way to go. And since them folks won't term limit themselves, it's about time the American Voters started term limiting them at the ballot box.
Those that remember to vote and know the name of their legislators that is -- not those who just pull the D or R switch.......
I was going to address Gerrymandering and how it is bringing down the House of Representatives year by year.... but since this item is about the Senate - I'll save it for another day!

When the bombs went off a the Marathon finish line on Boyleston Street in Boston -- folks leaped out of their chairs and ran --- and ran off on their food and bar tabs in the restaurants they were sitting in.
Well, guess what folks -- Americans are, at heart, at good people. Here is a bit from today's Boston Herald:
Marathon-goers who had to leave their unpaid restaurant tabs behind when the deadly bombings interrupted lunch are stepping up to pay the check — making good on their debts from across the nation, the Herald has learned.
“They all said, ‘Listen, we were there, having a good time, and we want to pay our tab,’” said Tony Castagnozzi, owner of the Rattlesnake Bar, who said he has received a flood of calls since the April 15 terror attack. “I was speechless. ... You see there are so many good people out there. It makes you feel good.”
Castagnozzi, who has owned the Boylston Street bar for 23 years, said his customers were forced to leave behind more than $3,000 in unpaid tabs when cops evacuated them after the bombings. Since then, he’s received nearly a dozen letters and calls from customers who’ve made good on their bills. In all, Castagnozzi estimates the bar has recouped about $1,200.
The story goes on to say how the long gone customers are insisting on including tips for the waitresses as well...

It was approved back in 1999, fourteen years ago --- folks in three-piece suits and pointy toed shoes have managed to spend more than $30 million ($30,000,000) so far and not a bush has been planted or a stone engraved. That's a whole lot of Morton Steak House lunches and dinner I reckon!
General 'Ike' - was one of our finest five star generals, not only won the war in Europe, but provided the statesmanship necessary to deal with the egos of Churchill, FDR, Stalin, and of course. Mr Ego's themselves - - British Field Marshall Bernard Montgomery and French General de Gaulle
He returned to his home, was recruited for President -- and - well, you know the rest if you are over fifty -- have read the rest of it if you are younger than that. Every time you drive up an on-ramp to an Interstate Highway -- think of Ike and his foresight....
But back to the point, 14 years, over $30 million spent, and all that has been created is a design concept that is disliked by Ike's family, by the Congress, by the National Monuments Foundation and by all others with taste... Just think of all the famous pictures of Ike you have seen dating back to D Day
The budget is now projected to be in the neighborhood of $142 million bucks! How insane is that? And I'll bet that's low compared to the final numbers

Where are the 'FARTS', when we need them?
On this Memorial Day weekend wherein we honor those who gave their very lives over the last 240 years to protect our freedoms, I note with interest - that in the face of the horrendous 'on the street' beheading of a young Brit soldier -- that at least three Brits have been arrested for the ugly, horrible, felony offense of .... are you ready for this.... no no.... it's too ugly for me to put into words - I'll just cut & paste:
"Ahead of the protests, Northumbria Police have arrested three men, two from Gateshead and one from Stockton, on suspicion of posting racist tweets."
Yessir, I'm ashamed to admit it, but three of the descendants of my British Ancestors did indeed let their anger get the better of them and in an 'Islamophobic' fit of rage over the public machete beheading of one of their soldiers -- sent a racist tweet....
But seriously folks, imagine our life here in the States without absolute, guaranteed freedom of speech! Civilly liable yes -- criminally liable no!
And yet with the slow incursion of 'hate' speech laws, 'internet bullying' laws, across our land .... aren't we in that infamous pot of slowly warming water along with the proverbial frog?
With the NAACP, CAIR (Council on American-Islamic Relations), JDL (Jewish Defense League), the SPLC (Southern Poverty Law Center), GLAD (Gay & Lesbian Advocates and Defenders) and many more one trick pony-wanna be victims groups, all watching every word spoken or printed that might cause offense -- it gets more and more perilous out there.
If acronyms are appropriate - we need a 'FARTS" (First Amendment Rights Tolerance Society) created to help folks understand one of the oldest axioms in the English lexicon:
Sticks and Stones May Break My Bones,
- But Words Will Never Hurt Me!!

- Davey Axelrod, Political advisor to Obamanation explained that 'the federal gob'mint is just toooo vast for the POTUS to manage.
- Defenders of Hellary claim that the Department of State was toooo big for her to know what was going on in Benghazi and where-ever...
- The former head of the IRS testified before congress that the IRS has tooo many departments and employees for him to be aware of the targeting of conservative tax exempt applications for refusal.
- The current head of the DOJ opined as how that department was just tooo spread out for him to know that they were tapping AP phone lists in general and a lead Fox reporter's calls in particular.
Anybody of y'all see a pattern here??

"I hope we have once again reminded people that man is not free unless government is limited. There's a clear cause and effect here that is as neat and predictable as a law of physics: as government expands, liberty contracts."
Everybody that thinks we taxpayers ought to fund 14,000 more IRS agents to act as Hall Monitors for Obamacare collections of monies, health histories, and personal information raise your hand!!!

A TGIF PC news item -- I can't handle any more this week.... I'm waiting for the White House holiday weekend Friday night 'dump'!
A junior high school teacher teaching Spanish in a Bronx Public School was fired.... her offense -- in her Spanish class -- when instructing the class on how to say the basic colors, --- she uttered the word 'NEGRO".... and a black student complained.
Yessir .. she did that --
I just Googled three 'Spanish to English' translation sites. I asked each of them to translate the English word 'Black' into it's Spanish equivalent.... DUH! Three times it told me 'Negro'!
Perhaps we should fire Google, or all those nasty sites for saying the Negro word....
Lord luv a duck -- what are we coming to?
Oh, sit down for this.... the teacher - 65 year old Petrona Smith, is a native of the West Indies - and black. More than that - the school she was teaching in is bi-lingual...
Have a nice weekend......

I was reminded of this super hit song today when I read that the state legislature of the Empire State of New York is meeting in deep thought about --
"Requiring bowling alley operators to post signs warning keglers not to wear bowling shoes outside, lest they become wet and increase the likelihood that a bowler could slip and fall when they come inside. Bowling shoes, designed to slip on the lanes, can become extremely slippery when wet."
Apparently, and to the surprise of many of these 21st Century deep thinkers in New York, when they passed a law banning smoking in all bowling alleys ten years ago... bowlers started stepping outside for a couple of quick puffs between frames, Being New York - they were stepping into the rain and the snow of course.
And then they returned to the game at hand, and in their wet shoes, slipped and fell on their butts, elbows, hips et al. Then in turn, sued the bowling alleys for not warning them of the danger.
Thus, ergo and hence- the current effort to create a law that says if the bowling alley operator posted appropriate signs saying to the effect; "Caution, wearing your bowling shoes in the snow or puddles may cause you to fall on yer ass.. and break something!" Then the bowling alley operator would be held harmless.....
I wonder who encouraged the two state Assemblymen to sponsor such a law? As some would say --- "DUH!"

The evil Prince Andy Cuomo, first born of Hamlet on the Hudson, Mario Cuomo -- is showing his Obamanation side....
After ramming a totally unenforceable and poorly thought out tough gun law through his Dim lap dogs in the New York Legislature --- Prince Andrew is now getting plumb snappy.... and power happy.
In January, the New York State Sheriff's Association sent him a letter with an analysis of the law and suggested some minor changes to make it more enforceable. So, the elected leaders of the Sheriff's Association were invited to come to Albany to discuss their recommendations..... they thought.
Instead, the meeting was used to cudgel the sheriffs and demand they "stop publicly speaking out against the act"!
“The governor was of the opinion that the sheriffs around the state should not be interjecting their personal opinions in reference to the law,” Chemung County Sheriff Moss said, adding that Cuomo said sheriffs can’t do that and enforce the law.
Then, it is said, the son of the father threatened to remove sheriffs from office, a little-used power afforded the state’s chief executive under the state constitution. Moss would not confirm this. He did say the meeting was heated at times.....
Keeping in mind that County Sheriffs are elected by the voters of their county, and not in any way appointed by or subject to the governor of the State of New York, this kind of threat raises alarm bells in a nation that is already fearing for the life of their 1st and 2nd Amendment rights.
Here is the little paragraph buried in the NY State Constitution that apparently Cuomo is trying to use like a club to beat the sheriffs into submission:
ARTICLE XIII, §13.(a) The governor may remove any elective sheriff, county clerk, district attorney or register within the term for which he or she shall have been elected; but before so doing the governor shall give to such officer a copy of the charges against him or her and an opportunity of being heard in his or her defense.
I wonder what the charges would be? Failing to bow low enough before his majesty? Using any words except 'Yessir' in their responses to his comments....?
It's our country, Pilgrims, and if we don't start standing up for it, the elitist ruling class is gonna take it away from us piece by piece by piece.......
I reflect back to the election of 1994, when Papa Mario was running for a 3rd term. His home base, the metro- New York City area plus Long Island was his base of unbeatable support - although the solid citizens of upstate and western New York were plumb tired of him. An organization on Long Island started a campaign, simply saying , "It's as simple as ABC - "Anybody But Cuomo!"... He lost Nassau & Suffolk counties out on the Island and the governor's office as well - Republican George Pataki was swept into office for two full terms to try to right the ship that the elder Cuomo almost sunk...
Unfortunately, voters have short memories.......

Just when I begin to think that I've heard it all............ I find out I'm wrong ....again!!
Are you aware that our Federal Emergency Management Agency -- "FEMA" operates and reacts on a highly, scientific damage scale of their own invention called - the "Waffle House Index"!!
As Jack Paar used to say, back in the day, --- "I kid you not!"
If the FEMA team arrives at the scene of a disaster, natural or otherwise, apparently the first thing they do is head for the nearest Waffle House to determine the scope of the disaster.
GREEN - - Waffle House is up and running with full menu.
YELLOW - Waffle House is running on generator with partial menu.
RED - - - - Waffle House is closed or destroyed
Seriously, this disaster index was invented and instigated after 'W's man Brownie was fired for lack of competence.. so now we have a Waffle House index... apparently, Brownie didn't count the closed Waffle Houses in the area hit by Katrina - er something.
Sometimes the system doesn't seem to work however, (surprised?) as in Moore, Oklahoma this week. When FEMA arrived, they sent their experts straight to the one Waffle House in town and found it closed. But they were assured that a generator was on the way - so they classified the tornado damage to the town as 'Yellow' instead of 'Red'.
Let 'em sell that to those who lost everything, homes, schools, relatives and kids!!
I reckon they'd tell FEMA where to stick their waffle index -- especially after waffling on their own dumb Index with that Yellow index finding because a generator was on the way!

Hey folks, how about we at least let the bodies get cold - and buried - and honored - before we raise the global warming circus tent......
On Tuesday, before the winds had even died down in Oklahoma -- the winds started to roar in the Capital Building of Congress!!!
"California Democratic Sen. Barbara Boxer blamed the tornado that devastated Oklahoma on global warming during a Senate floor speech Tuesday, using the opportunity to push her own plan to tax carbon dioxide emissions.
“This is climate change,” Boxer said. “This is climate change. We were warned about extreme weather: Not just hot weather, but extreme weather. When I had my hearings, when I had the gavel years ago — it’s been a while — the scientists all agreed that what we’d start to see was extreme weather.”
“Carbon could cost us the planet,” Boxer added, plugging her own carbon tax bill, co-sponsored by Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders. “The least we could do is put a little charge on it so people move to clean energy.”

They say that watching federal laws being written and enacted is much like watching sausage being made. Lots of weird parts and unknowns go into the make-up but in the end - it just looks like any other sausage.....
The current sausage being created in the congress is of course, The Gang of Eight's 900 page omnibus immigration reform bill... apparently there are so many exceptions and variances that even the small Senate Judiciary Committee is split on many of them... Case in point:
"In one vote, Sen. Jeff Sessions, Alabama Republican, tried to prevent anyone but citizens and green-card holders from being able to claim the Earned Income Tax Credit, which uses the tax code to transfer money to the poor.
But Sen. Charles E. Schumer, New York Democrat, said that would deny the tax credit not only to legalized immigrants but also refugees, asylum-seekers and other legal workers."
Setting all of the dozens of other problem areas aside, passing this bill with this verbiage would meant that the minute we grant amnesty to these illegal law breakers, they become eligible for welfare, Earned Income Tax Credit (one of the greatest misnomers of all time) and it follows that Medicaid, SNAPS, Section 8 housing assistance wouldn't be far behind.
This brings up two questions -- Actually a hell-of-a-lot more than two - but here are the two:
1. Can anyone reading this article name ONE nation in the world that welcomes immigrants and grants them full gob'mint welfare bennies from day one? How attractive does that make sneaking across our borders to retire early.....!
2.Despite Senator Chuck-You Schumer's protestations - how in God's name can the tax payers of a country that is already borrowing a trillion dollars ($1,000.000.000.000) per year going to be able to afford to subsidize the living, eating, and health standards of 11,000.000 more people? Remember, the gob'mint has NO money, only that which they take from us. Which begs the follow up question - how deep in their own pockets are Chuckie and his fellow big spenders willing to go to support this zillion dollar hit on our national budget?
Right - I agree! Zero! Zippo! Nada!

So..... it's time to bend over and grab your ankles America!!
With the Obamacare (so called) national health program about to be put under the auspices of the Internal Revenue Service in general, and the admittedly political hands of Sarah Hall Ingram, in particular.... it's Katy' bar the door! time.
She apparently did such a good job stifling tax-exempt applications from Tea Party citizen organizations and others with the dirty word of 'Patriot' and such in their names --- that she is being hugely promoted to head the Obamacare Division of the IRS with it's 14,000 new hirelings.
Even in the face of congressional screams and even MSM backlash - Obamation and his minions are running through all the talk shows maintaining their support for this marvelous public servant. Hell, even her recent replacement overseeing her old office has resigned already - to avoid incoming - I reckon...
This is not only no longer my Daddy's country, folks, this is no longer the country I've known and loved for all these years (and spent more than twenty years in uniform defending) ....
I would have a lot more sympathy for my kids and grandkids but I suspect a fair amount of them, grandkids especially, voted this cabal of socialists into office! TWICE!

Once again, Partners, I find that in the world of social communication on the Internet.... I am one of the dimmer bulbs on the porch...
As proof, I offer the admission that until this morning I had not the foggiest idea of what a 'Yelp' was or that they even existed. I am much wiser now that I have researched a little.
Apparently some young entrepreneurs created 'yelp.com' as a money making machine which solicits and shares reviews of local restaurants. At least originally -- now they have expanded and solicit and share reviews of everything from restaurants to bus lines and even prisons. Hey, want to rate your local hoosegow?
All kidding aside, what brought 'Yelp' to my attention was this article in the Washington Post regarding small family owned bid'ness in Scottsdale AZ, called 'Amy's Baking Company. Apparently Yelp's review numbers are driving customers away. There are now lawsuits pending accusing Yelp of filtering reviews and thus skewing results, depending on whether the restaurant buys advertising with them.
I know nothing of the truthiness of this - nor of Yelp's reports..... but I have one more good reason to be proud and happy that I neither Twitter, Tweet, or Facebook.
Life is much simpler that way.... by the way, just in case you thought I was kidding about the prison 'yelps'.... just click here ---
