Misleading headlines.... or pot stirrers??

The last couple of days, on several conservative news blog sites, headlines have been unfairly blaring:  

"Students read Pledge of Allegiance -- in Arabic?"

Or similar styles to attract attention or inflame the readers... I'm not sure which.  I went to the linked site, NBC 9 News in Colorado, and found the whole story quite innocent and very 21st Century. 

Bottom line, the Pledge is read every Monday morning in this Rocky Mountain High School. A language club asked to be allowed to recite it in other languages, Arabic, French, Spanish and others.  The words remain the same, the pledge is to the American flag and the USA... nothing sinister intended or accidental.

Frankly, I think folks ought to report this for what it is, a recognition of diversity in the school community -- and save their concerns for more important causes.  Hey, at least the kids are allowed to recite and hear the Pledge to the Flag.. that never happens in a lot of schools nowadays, under the guise of PC or some other lame excuse!

More on those pesky amendments called the Bill of Rights...

A few days ago, I reflected on the current attacks on the 1st Amendment by the current administration. Freedom of Speech, Religion, and Assembly - all being attacked and eroded with the help of feel good, warm titled laws like 'The Patriot Act'.

We've seen the Second Amendment under a new sustained attack at all levels, from mayors like Billionaire Bloomberg (with his own private armed protection squad) to the rest of the usual suspects on the federal level.

That the Tenth Amendment has been totally obviated since the beginning of the 20th Century goes without saying. Obamacare is only the latest example, not the first. But that's another story ---  go flush your federally mandated 1 gallon toilet and get back to me.

Let's talk about the Fifth Amendment, you know - that one that guarantees every citizen the right to due process before being deprived of Life, Liberty or Property.  I'm going to post a brief news clip (without comment) that is almost a year old - filmed March 2012.  If you can watch this clip and then think about what you've read and heard in the news in the last year -- and not get thoroughly P.O.'d .........  take your pulse, you've died and don't realize it!!

With all the hyperbole these last couple of weeks, I think the true highpoint was when Obamanation suddenly realized and felt the need to share the fact that he had been 'shooting skeet' regularly and often up at Camp David and elsewhere. 

Bam, instant flashback....  election campaign in 2004, Kerry vs George 'W'...... John Heinz-Kerry strides into a bait & tackle shop in Western Pennsylvania (you know, the hub of them Bible thumping gun lovers) and sez in a voice loud enough to be picked up by all the recording cameras... "Howdy, kin a guy get hisself a huntin' license in here?" (or words to that effect) 

Every American in the country with an IQ higher than International Fall's annual winter temperature knew what inane posturing this was. Hell if John Heinz-Kerry ever did really want a huntin' license.... he'd have the chauffeur or downstairs butler go get him one. 

Flash forward,  Barack Hussein Obama, well known hunter and gun nut, brags about his prowess with a shotgun.   Lord, give me a break!  Hope n' Change nails it......

Word of the day: BIFURCATION

I humbly offer 'bifurcation' as the word of the day. I don't believe I have ever run across a word with as many 'different' meanings   and uses.   Background: The other day, in an interview with PGA Commissioner, Tim Finchem, the topic was a recent ruling by the USGA & R&A to ban 'anchored' putters in a couple of years. His response was that the PGA hadn't decided on compliance or bifurcation.   The last time I read or heard that word was back in my real estate broker days, and it had to do with rechanneling waterways, riparian rights and all that land rights falderal Being a curious dunce, and with the world at my finger tips, I Googled, naturally, and good God Gertie, if 'bifurcation' ain't got more entirely separate meanings than those that yer wife's glances have.   Whee doggies...   It can relate to the physical, the legal, the imagined, the personal etc...  Click here to take a gander at the synonyms fer yerself.   There ain't gonna be a Pop Quiz, so you can take a pass if you are of a mind.

...“If a Republican member of Congress is not punished on Fox News or by Rush Limbaugh for working with a Democrat on a bill of common interest, then you’ll see more of them doing it,” he said.

And the beat goes on:

There are three possible outcomes: **

- Reid will oversee sausage making in the Senate and when nothing comes of it he and Obama will both provide cover for his vulnerable colleagues and blame the GOP for the inaction.
- A watered down version of gun control (stricter background checks) passes and Reid and Obama blame the GOP for not passing something more substantial while Reid provides cover for Senate democrats.
- An assault weapons ban riddled with loopholes passes and Obama blames the GOP for blocking something stronger.
In the end, nothing meaningful happens, the GOP is blamed and Obama looks like he tried.

Sheriff David Clarke, of Milwaukee County WI,  has just released a 30 second Public Service announcement that WILL SAVE LIVES. But the anti-gun zealots are going berserk! Watch for yourselves. 


 That's right, you heard it correctly. The good sheriff is agreeing that a 9mm or 40mm handgun in the hand of a trained and practiced citizen is more protection than a cell phone with 911 on speed dial! Makes sense to me! 

And Congrats to an honest lawman. I hope he gets to keep his job!

Juxtaposition is everything!!

I opened my morning Internet issue of the Daily Caller this morning and couldn't help but grin at two articles the editors had placed side by side..

On the left was a video of foreign policy scholar Michael Ledeen warning that even small regulations on tobacco and guns slowly and quietly erode the freedoms granted American citizens in the nation's founding documents.  

He added: “It’s exactly what Tocqueville forecast, exactly the way he forecast it,” Ledeen said. “Millions of tiny little regulations, and we’re not going to notice them when they come in one-by-one. We’re even going to welcome them, and then one day we’re going to wake and find that we’re all tied down, we can’t move at all.”

Positioned immediately to the right of this article was an article by Michael Bastasch, "State regulators crack down on grocery chain for selling cheap milk"

It seems that a grocery chain in Louisiana had the audacity to sell milk for $2.99 a gallon. What's up wid dat?  Apparently one (or more) of their competitors dropped a dime on 'em because Louisiana apparently has a LAW that says stores can't sell milk for less than 6% MORE than their costs.  Like politicians everywhere, apparently Louisiana politicians have never run a bid'ness or heard of loss leaders in their sales...

Chicago off to a Banging start for 2013!

Looks like Rhambo's city with big shoulders will strive to break last years record of murders. Just yesterday, there were five fatal shootings. But numbers are so cold, lets pick out just one and look at it....

'Ronnie' was just 34 years old, a Chicago lad, club member (Disciples), and Mommas baby boy and only child. What a loss for her and for Chicago.  With only 29 arrests and four convictions, he was just getting to the top. I wonder what Chicago judges award for four felony drug convictions if he was out on the street? Gold stars on their rap sheets?

After all, he and his sidekick pharmacist's assistant were just sitting in their car/drug store on a Chicago street corner.

The reason he was an only child was that his three elder siblings all gave their lives in Chicago gang/drug gun battles back in the late 90's. Momma probably sees herself as a 4 star mother..  wait, I take that smart remark back because it's an insult to all of the American Moms who have lost their sons and husbands in defense of the nation.

 Now here's a question, if Obamanation, a Chicago hustler community organizer, an liberal party hacks, Biden, Feinsten, Durban (Chicago's Senator) and all, are so concerned about gun control, why are they having meetings in Virginia, DC, and Connecticut.  Why aren't they walking the streets of the revived and once again champion - Murder City, USA?

Anyone want to bet that not one of those five shootings in Chicago yesterday involved a rifle of any kind. Much less, one with designed for clipping on a dreaded bayonet?

Maybe Rhambo, who has been trying to get back into the headlines by writing threatening letters to bankers that legitimately grant lines of credit to gun manufacturers ought to spend more time with his police commissioner and try to solve Chicago's problems.

When an American Secretary of State shows her real thoughts!

Sounds like the same words that Obamanation uses when talking about the Constitution!

About that Bill of Rights that Obamanation finds so, so, 'so limiting'....

We are all painfully aware of the latest attack on the Second Amendment by Obamanation and his lackeys. But while we all have our eyes glued on that....  take a gander at how they are are undermining the First Amendment!  You remember that one, from 9th Grade civics class:

Amendment I
Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.

I'm gonna skip the religious freedom topic because the pols and the courts have twisted that so far out of it's original meaning that it literally has no meaning any more. Ask any military chaplain who has been ordered not the use the word Jesus any more, or any any valedictorian  who is not allowed to mention God.

I will also skip the freedom of speech portion because unless you are an elitist Hollywoody, the gob'mint is already slowly but deliberately building 'hate speech' rules which do in fact, negate 'Freedom of Speech'.  Think not? Think again!

Nope, what I'd like to draw your attention to today is that right of the people 'to peaceably assemble' and address their grievances. No problemo, right?

Big problem! First, let's extract from that (always) friendly sounding law rushed through Congress after 9/11: to wit - "The Patriot Act"

(a) DOMESTIC TERRORISM DEFINED- Section 2331 of title 18, United States Code, is amended–
‘(5) the term `domestic terrorism’ means activities that–
‘(B) appear to be intended–
‘(i) to intimidate or coerce a civilian population;
‘(ii) to influence the policy of a government by intimidation or coercion; or

 So what you ask? So now our own US Government defines 'peaceably assembling to protest government policy' is a form of low-level terrorism.  You can be arrested and detained without cause, placed on no fly lists and much more.  As a matter of fact, here is a question right out of a government employees routine training examination:

The written exam, given as part of Department of Defense employees’ routine training, includes a multiple-choice question that asks:

“Which of the following is an example of low-level terrorism?”
- Attacking the Pentagon
- IEDs
- Hate crimes against racial groups
- Protests

The correct answer, according to the exam, is “Protests.”

So much for the First Amendment. And the Second Amendment..

But nobody should be surprised. As far back as 2001, when he was an Illinois State Senator, Obamanation claimed the Constitution was fundamentally flawed because it limited gob'mints  ability to rule the people (not to mention redistribute wealth)

I opened up the Drudge Report this morning and was greeted by five larger pictures of Obamanation with flies on his face. It reminded me of an old military expression ..... and I almost burst out laughing..

Then I looked to the left column and saw a headline that read "SHERIFF JOE RIDES INTO VA TO GET THE GUNS.."

I clicked on it immediately of course, wondering what in the world the countries most famous sheriff, Sheriff Joe Arpaio of Arizona was doing in Virgina.  Imagine my disappointment when I clicked on the link and discovered that it was an AP report about Jumpin' Joe Bite-me going to Virginia (50 miles?) to pimp for Feinstein's gun control gob'mint grab.

In my ole' head, comparing a career party hack like Biden to the real Sheriff Joe is like comparing a water pistol (filled with warm yellow liquid) with a 1911 Colt 45! 

Gimme a break! Of course if Drudge had mentioned it was an Associated Press report presented on behalf of their Dimmocrat handlers, I would`a passed anyway!

A second Irish Potato Famine?

I was reading an Irish Paper on the internet yesterday and the headline story was that because of flooded fields and resultant monster increases in the price of potatoes as well as fish shipping fuel costs,  the price of Fish & Chips take out was going to double in about a month. They announced the projected prices in Euro's and it seemed extraordinary - (based on my 55 year ago memories when an order of Fish & Chips was Two & Six (Two Shillings, Six pence) aka, 'alf crown'. (35¢) So I googled fish & chips prices in England - and discovered that today - the average price for an order of 'one piece of fish plus chips' averages £3.30!! ($5.25) That ain't inflation, that's robbery and they announce immediate increases in the offing as well...   Like the old saying, "Ya' can't go back to yer youth."  Here is a brief lesson in Cost of Living Increases: Cost of Living Increases- The cost of a portion of fish and chips more than tripled from 25p in 1970 to 83p in 1980. From there it doubled to £1.68 in the 1990′s. From the 1990′s to the 2000′s  the cost of fish and chips “only” increased by 45% to £2.43. And the average price of a single serving of Fish and Chips in the U.K. is currently £3.30 a 35.8% increase in price over the last decade. However, in London the average cost of a portion of fish and chips is £5.00. ($8.00) .... and that is soon to double? -- we may have another whole wave of Irish Immigrants. Which might not be such a bad idea.....  Cor Blimey!!

In celebration of 40 years of the slaughter of American children.....

The whole nation drew a deep breath at the murder of 20 young innocents in Connecticut last month....   I hear no outcry about the murder of 1,200,000 very young babies in this country each year........ 

However, with a POTUS in the White House that once voted to make it legal to set babies that survived abortion attempts on a shelf to die ---- and a gob'nor in New York who proposes; no parental consent for pregnant children to have abortions - and oh, by the way, abortionists don't need those medical degrees...

I don't reckon it will get better anytime soon.

" There’s controversy at a Talbot County school after two 6-year-old boys were suspended while playing cops and robbers during recess and using their fingers to make an imaginary gun.
“It’s ridiculous,” said parent Julia Merchant.

This is the second time a Maryland child has been suspended for such play. Earlier this month, 6-year-old Rodney Lynch was suspended from his Montgomery County school after pretending to fire an imaginary gun more than once.

“Just pointing your fingers like this and then she did the pow sound and I just went like that and then I got sent to the office again,” Lynch said.

Fortunately wiser heads prevailed, and a well paid, over educated PhD Child Psychologist opined, "I do not believe maliciousness was involved here."  

Whew, that's a good thing, if those kids had gone 'Pow Pow' or 'Bang Bang', they'd have been arrested for using semi-automatic fingers!

When does the common sense return to this country?  Not soon I fear, for here is the latest headline.

"Maryland Governor Martin O'Malley proposes ambitious gun-control package which is even more aggressive and restrictive than Obamanation's"

Watch that name, O'Malley, Pilgrims, he wants to be your next POTUS and do to the Nation what he has done to his state!   

(now, do me a favor and go back and read those words in the Maryland state anthem. You won't hear them all in the parade at the Preakness Stakes at Pimlico Race Course in Baltimore this spring. Oh and by the way, that asterisk in the last line of the song is to draw attention to the fact that the song writer, J Randall, uses more exclamation points then Obamanation uses first person pronouns in a speech)

Well there is one saving factor.............

The saving factor?  Why it's the XXII Amendment - ratified on February 27, 1951!

Who knew a Nation like our great USA would need a Constitutional Amendment to save itself from self inflicted wounds ??

Yessireee Bob!  Declare that White House as a Gun Free Zone and keep our POTUS as safe as our kids in schools across the country !!!

Latest Shell Game.....

Shell game of the week??

Well, Partners, I've been sitting here rarin' to go and let loose a broadside on all this snake oil being sold about gun control. 

But I reckon I'll hold my fire until I see what imperial mouthings come from Obamanation at his latest side show and circus act today.  I understand that he is gonna be surrounding hisself with little kiddies for this dog and pony show. Much like he did when he dressed up all the white house staffers in long white doctor coats when he was peddling the Obamacare lies.  Or police when discussing spending tax dollars on police unions. And on and on..

Like I said, I'll hold fire on the topic of gun control (pun intended) for now -- but want to warn all you taxpayers, just like he is advised to 'never let a crisis go to waste unused', he and his cabal of socialists will do almost anything to keep our eyes off the pea while he shuffles the shells.  Don't let him do it. 

It's still just rumor, but I am hearing that one of his acts today will be to federally fund cops in every village and town across the fruited plains for the kiddies' protection.  Hmmm, what are the odds that these federal rent-a-cops will be immediately unionized ---- adding thousands of dues paying members to related unions and their Dimmocrat supporting coffers..

There is a headline story in Sunday's Washington Times by Rowan Scarborough that headlines... 
"Pentagon begins campaign to bust ‘myths’ about nominee Hagel"

Now then Partners, as one of the many who were around when the "Pentagon" was built, I am fully aware that it is a building, and not a writer, campaigner or other such. So I am supposing that the Pentagon's bricks and mortar are not forwarding documents to the Senate on behalf of Chuck Hagel.  Thus, ergo, and hence, it must be somebody that works there doing all this campaigning.

To my knowledge, there only two kinds of folks in the Pentagon, DOD civilian employees and uniformed members of the Armed Services.  Although I am well aware that that Democrat party hack, Leon Panetta,  works in there as well, I doubt if he is a one man band in this effort. 

So the question becomes, what tax payer paid DOD employees are using gob'mint time, salaries, computers, printers, and staff to lobby the United States Senators on behalf of an Obamanation nominee....  I realize that BO has stomped on the constitution and many other laws - but surely this goes beyond the pall. 

My second question would be, why isn't the Washington Times questioning this illegal act and further, and why isn't the US Senate?  

Don't misunderstand me. If the POTUS wants to use his WH West Wing staff or Dim party workers, that a horse of a different color, but using DOD employees in or out of uniform for such obvious political work seems a bit egregious.

I'm sure you are all painfully familiar with last week's main journalism story -- a Southern New York liberal rag & fish wrapping newspaper printed the names and addresses of all licensed gun owners in that portion of the NY Tri-state areas. 

Why did they do it? Because they can.  Because the 1st Amendment gives them the right to publish any public information. 

No No! Really, why did they do it? It was a sophomoric prank perpetrated by a an 'unruly mob' of bullying liberal knee-jerkers --- and ....... just because they could. A perfect example of Americans hiding under the protection of the First Amendment while trying to destroy the Second Amendment.

There has already been one residence burglary which is suspected to be directly related to those newsrag (I won't call it a newspaper) articles and lists. 

Well, once again, thank the Lord for the Blogosphere!!  A feller up there in hoity-toity Westchester County has obtained the official lists of all the editors, reporters and staff of the "Journal News" and has published them on an interactive map for all to see.  Click on a spot, get the full name, address, telephone number and position for each and every employee. 

I'll bet those folks are crazed with shouts of 'unfair'....   I may be way down here in Texas but I'm tickled Red, White, & Blue!!

I'm just thinking out loud here, but I wonder if that paper had the cajones to publish the names and addresses of the Secret Service agents assigned to protect ex-president Bill Clinton there in Westchester.... I suspect that they carry weapons.   

Nah, I don't reckon they'd do that - it's okay to pick on ordinary citizens but not nice to fool with the US Gob'mint!

I watched an excerpt of New Yorks Gob'nor Andy Cuomo during his hysterical State of the State tantrum.  I thought perhaps he was auditioning to be a grieving speaker at the funeral of the next senator that dies in a plane crash.  Remember the political screams of anguish at the funeral of the late Senator Paul Wellstone back in 2002?

Egad, you'd never know the man was the son of one of the most erudite New York pols in history!  Looked and sounded like John Boehner on steroids.  

BTW, anybody ever read anything in the Second Amendment that mentions deer hunting? Funny, neither have I. Anybody ever heard a hysterical pol, from Schumer in NYC to Feinstein on the Left coast describe 'zactly what an 'assault rifle' is?  Nope? Neither have I.  

Seems like I read that the onliest long gun on the scene was a single shot, semi-auto AR-15 and it was in the trunk of the lunatic's car. Only hand guns were used. Hmmm....

Don't bother  with the facts, just do the rant!!!

Every now and then, Partners, I run across a column that I would like to cut and paste in here in it's entirety so that nothing gets lost.  But even the Internet has rules and frown on that -- it's not plagiarism if you give credit - but it's considered bad manners....

Closely followed by that one trick pony from Long Island, the widowed Dem no-name Representative whose husband was shot in a Long Island train massacre years ago. (She has never acknowledged that if only one concealed carry passenger was on that train - her husband and many others might still be alive.)

And now we have the latest gun control money hustlers on the scene. the adorable and easy to love Gabby Giffords, former congresswoman, and her retired Navy captain husband, Mark Kelly.

They have created "Americans for Responsible Solutions'. They apparently have no solutions, but they have a mission. In their own words: "raise the funds necessary to balance the influence of the gun lobby, and will line up squarely behind leaders who will stand up for what's right."

Isn't that noble? Might I translate that into English?  'Hustle other people's money (OPM), travel, dine, attend rallies and be fawned over, and allow elected officials at all levels, who should be attending to the work they were elected to do, to come to them, kneel and kiss their 'Fifteen Minutes of Fame' ring.'

To tell you that I am disappointed in Ms Giffords would not only be redundant, it would be an understatement.  I thought she was really something special when I first read about her. Liked by constituents of both parties, a hard worker admired by her congressional co-workers.....   What a shame - she is either not who I thought she was, or is being badly used.... and allowing it to happen. 

There, I've had my say.  In fairness, I will link you here to their Internet site, so you can send them some money for their stationary and coffee. God knows, they shouldn't use their own....  Click here!

Whoever they hired (with OPM) to set this site up almost got it right. Just think if s/he had named it 'Americans for Sensible Solutions'.  What an acronym that would make, Nes Pa?

Open letter to (Call me Senator) Feinstein from Marine...

Since it has gone viral, I am certain that most of you have read this letter from Marine Corporal Joshua Boston to California's own....... Call Me Senator Feinstein, regarding her gun control histrionics. But I'm gonna paste it here anyway for those who might have missed it:

Senator Dianne Feinstein,

I will not register my weapons should this bill be passed, as I do not believe it is the government’s right to know what I own. Nor do I think it prudent to tell you what I own so that it may be taken from me by a group of people who enjoy armed protection yet decry me having the same a crime.

You ma’am have overstepped a line that is not your domain. I am a Marine Corps Veteran of 8 years, and I will not have some woman who proclaims the evil of an inanimate object, yet carries one, tell me I may not have one.

I am not your subject. I am the man who keeps you free. I am not your servant. I am the person whom you serve. I am not your peasant. I am the flesh and blood of America.

I am the man who fought for my country. I am the man who learned. I am an American. You will not tell me that I must register my semi-automatic AR-15 because of the actions of some evil man.

I will not be disarmed to suit the fear that has been established by the media and your misinformation campaign against the American public.

We, the people, deserve better than you.

 There is always a certain risk of political retribution in instances where active duty servicemen question the actions of politicians...  (just ask General McChrystal) thus Corporal Boston, is serving us in two roles -- an active duty Marine and a Patriot!!

So, from a 21 year Air Force Vet, ... 'Thank you for your service Corporal Boston!'

Why does Obamanation look across the Nation for all of the millionaires on which to raise tax revenues? It's just a short ride down Pennsylvania Avenue to the Capitol Building -- which probably should be called the Capital is Building!!
 

On a similar note.. New Yorker columnist Andy Borowitz pointed out last month that 'billionaires across the country are warning that if their taxes keep going up, they will not have enough money left to be able to buy politicians.....  (link to column)

He also said: “The Al Qaeda terrorist group is disbanding, saying “our mission of destroying the American economy is now in the capable hands of the U.S. Congress.”

Is the Washington Post in such deep doo-doo that it's jumping the shark ?

Well Well -- a belated Happy New Year to you all! I hope everyone remembered to eat that little bowl of Black-eyed Peas New Years Eve....

Sorry that I've been missing in action the last few days, but with the release of my new book, "Judgement Daze", things have been pretty hectic. We had to get the new Internet site set up and updated, I had to do some signings and shippings and all that falderall. 

Writing a book is the fun part, researching facts, locations, and geography is tedious, editing is a major pain in the.... er, uh, backside -- but then marketing is a serious pain - unless you are a celebrity, well known best selling writer, or politician so the taxpayers can pay your expenses..   check out my new site -- see what you think.
