Close out May with a chuckle.....

Wondering if I should let May just close with a whimper... I clicked on an bold entry on the UK's Independent site today.... it's headline?

The Cable News Nightmare: CNN (and Piers Morgan) in audience crisis

Viewers are turning off in droves, lured by brash rivals and popularity of Internet news sources

I read further until I got to the seventh paragraph in the article and ran into:

"It's really a bloodletting; there's no other way to describe it," says Robert Thompson, professor of Television and Popular Culture at Syracuse University. "The biggest problem is inherent in their brand. They are trying to stick to old-fashioned, unbiased news broadcasting when their rivals have worked out that to draw an audience when there aren't major stories breaking you need to do the opposite."

At which time I fell out of my chair laughing, kept rolling on the floor and couldn't get up! Ooh my, Ooh my! "Unbiased.. lol lol"

Vietnam War Memorial, Monday - Memorial Day

These silver haired rascals are just some of the Vietnam era vets that were herded away from the Wall on Memorial Day for seven hours.... so Obamanation could do a twenty minute speech for the TV cameras railing against........... you guessed it:

"Disgraceful treatment of Vietnam Vets when they returned to the USA"

See next post....

The untold story of Memorial Day.......

A Maryland friend, a Vietnam Era retired Air Force Vet, forwarded me an e-mail that he had received from a very very unhappy military friend.

I can't include the whole letter because it includes several names of living Vets and Vietnam KIA's listed on the Vietnam Memorial -- so forgive me for editing.

"Today is Memorial Day and I went to the Vietnam Memorial and something happened there that upset me greatly and I want to pass it on.

For over 15 years I had been going with my dear Marine buddy, Larry X. Since he passed away last year and was interned at Arlington Cemetery, I went this year accompanied by my grandson, John. I had my list of Recon Marines, school classmates, and Larry's fallen buddies to visit but, as we got close to the area of the National Mall where the Wall is located, we saw huge white tents. We also saw barricades all along Constitution Ave and for a couple blocks in each direction from the Wall. They even closed down all of Constitution Av from the Lincoln Memorial all the way to the WW-II Memorial and there was a virtual army of uniformed and plain-clothes security everywhere.

The biggest tent was right at the west end of the Wall entrance and there was a covered walkway leading right up to The Wall. It was so close, you couldn't get to the Wall on that side so, my grandson and I went all the way around to the eastern entrance to the Wall and walked down along the Wall to the first of my names and I began telling my grandson about my buddies and how each one died. In short order, a guy in a dark suit and earpiece in his ear told us we had to leave as it was 0730 and they were closing Memorial until at least 1400 so the President could drop by. I asked if he was serious and he assured me he was. We and all the other veterans and families were forced to leave and it was locked down.

The Vietnam Memorial is the most visited site on the entire National Mall. Memorial Day has more visitors to the Vietnam Memorial than almost any other day. Even at the rather early hour John and I were there, there were a lot of veterans and family members down there. In the midst of all that, Obama decides to close it for over seven hours just so he can roll by for 30 minutes in the afternoon for a campaign appearance with Democrats, supporters, and campaign donors? This is an incredulously arrogant, egotistical, and inconsiderate thing to do. What in hell was Obama thinking?

The letter went on to name the Vet's twenty buddies whose names were on the Wall and identified the panels where their names appeared....

While we can all appreciate the need for security for the POTUS, I find it particularly hypocritical of the Obamanation team - to displace all of these Memorial Day Visitors to THEIR WALL for seven plus hours, so he could do a photo op and 'rail against the disgraceful treatment that Vietnam Vets received when they returned from their war.'

I took me a minute to remember that this was Bill Ayres bosom buddy - but then I remembered that just this week, the new polls came out showing BO lagging far behind Mitt Romney for vet's votes. I wonder how many Vets and their families that were ordered away from the Memorial Wall on Monday will change their minds and vote for this man?

Naw, just kidding, I don't wonder at all.

By the way, he enclosed a picture of the crowd of silver haired vets and their families crowded together in the streets outside the Memorial where they were banished for seven hours plus!

I can only imagine the chagrin, frustration, and anger at our government of those who had come from all over the Nation on Memorial Day to honor their fallen friends and were barred because the POTUS's campaign managers decided a photo-op for a sinking candidate was more important than the true purpose of the day......

Like the letter said -- a DISGRACE!!

Sneaked - leaked copy of 'W's portrait........

As y'all know, tomorrow George W Bush and his Lady will visit the White House for the unveiling of his official portrait. I recall what a gentlemanly host W was when Bubba came for his unveiling (oops, poor choice of words) .

And I expect that he will again be a gentleman when being greeted by the man who has blamed him for every National ill except the carpet stains in the oval office...

But enough ----- for the unveiling of the new official portrait....

I could'a teased you by making you scroll down to see it, but that didn't seem fair.

(Clicking here will take you to our friends at Hope n' Change that created this pic... Thanks folks ... you do good work)

I realize that it is Memorial Day Eve.....

... and I shouldn't be concerned with political BS coming from the White House. But this latest incarnation of bovine excrement is so blatant.... er, um, flatulent... that I just have to post it. Sorry about that.

The jerk on the string in the Oval Office's jerk on the string in the Press Conference room was asked a simple question.

What is the difference between the failure of Obamanation's waste of millions of taxpayer's money in the investment on Solyndra .... and the losses sometimes suffered by Bain Capital? Or something..

I sure can't add to that brilliant response... duh!

25 Best Quotes from American Soldiers.....

On this strange election Tuesday, juxtapositioned between yesterday's faux Memorial Day (that is to say - a Congressionally Declared Monday Bank Holiday for the last Monday each May) and the real Memorial Day tomorrow, the 30th Day of May every year... it seems like a great day to share John Hawkins' compilation of the greatest soldier quotes in American history...... I'll wager your favorite is in this list somewhere.

An interesting Memorial Day picture came over my transom early this morning.....

It was delivered to me by a couple of retired career military friends.

I think it poses a hellofa good question... especially on this day!

Don't you?

The true meaning of Memorial Day..... to some....

While reading about the mattress sales, and enjoying the Barbeques, the picnics, and the Keggers on this three day bank holiday declared by Congress in 1971, please remember to take a minute on Wednesday, 30 May, at 3 PM -- to remember the true meaning of Memorial Day.

Honoring those who paid the supreme sacrifice on the fields of battle so that we might enjoy our freedom....

May they all Rest In Peace.....

The really scary part of the story is many folks who would believe this Grimm's fairy tale are eligible to vote......

"My two sons!? ......a new TV series Obamanation is promoting?

After being given a free pass for his many campaign gaffs, (57 states come to mind) His BO'ness has pretty much stuck to script..... er ... teleprompter. Rarely speaks off the cuff as it were...

That being the case, twice in the last couple of days, whilst reading from his teleprompters, the father of those two girls now living in our White House has referred to 'my sons'.

This would be funny if it wasn't so scary. Whether it's Freudian or a brain freeze, with it happening twice in a like number of days by the 'leader of the free world', it causes wonder.

Speaking of wonder..... I wonder how Sasha and Malia feel when they hear him say it. Especially because the White House itself has reported that it has happened four times this year.

I certainly hope that it's not because his mind has risen ABOVE his office and he now views us all as HIS children.. That's not Biblical folks, that's Kim Jong II level thinking.....

Beauty is in the eye of.....

I came across yet another column this morning written by a lady type columnist complaining about the 'War on Women'.... no - not the GOP, not the workplace, not even Walmart!

Nope, her wails were wails of complaint that as she walks through Target or Beall's stores, she is bombarded with women's beauty products. In her words, she is faced with clothes designed for anorexic teenage waifs and not real women. The covers of the magazines at the check outs all have photo-shopped, airbrushed, covers of glamorous women, coiffed and perfectly made up.

Whoa Nellie -- !!

What about us middle aged and older guys? I walk through Target and Beall's stores and don't see a single pair of flat front chino's in my waist and inseam size. I couldn't get my right leg into most of 'em, much less button 'em up. If I want a non-tuck shirt, I am directed to the Guayabera shirt racks for old fat men.

I go to the check out counter and see pictures staring back at me .. pictures of George Clooney, Richard Gere, Tom Cruise. Six pack abs, and a full head of hair. Where is the fairness in that? These fellas spend all morning at the gym and all afternoon posing for pictures. They think gravity will ignore them in the years to come .... Hah!

And it doesn't end there.

Try to catch a cab on a rainy day - a middle aged, paunchy man on one corner, and some cute twenty-something chick with a short skirt barely covering her lovely assets on the other, and see who gets the first cab to stop.
Or stand with your head shining under the lights at a Starbucks stand manned by two young fellers and a bevy of pretty young things shouting their orders for 'Cinnamon Dolce Latte' or 'Caffe Mocha'?
Don't hold your breath waiting to order that "cup of regular coffee, black please".

War on women? Nah - I don't think so. War on 'experienced' folks -- you betcha!!!

Bubba is swinging a wide loop......

I've been seeing this picture all over the Blogosphere but wasn't going to use it until I was sure it wasn't photoshopped or mislabeled.

Voila`! This morning ABC News posted and discussed it. I figure if one of the inside networks of the DNC posted it - it must be real!

Yessir, our own modest ex-pres, Mr Charity, who has spent the last forty years living on OPM (other people's money) and continues to do so with his 'charitable' foundation's billion$.

Apparently sporting about in Monte Carlo, Monaco, Billy was besieged by his fans for this photo. That would be Tasha Reign and Brooklyn Lee. Both award winners for such AVN (porn Oscars) awards as 'Most Outrageous Sex Scene' as well as others.

Hmmm. I reckon the Secretary of State declined the invitation......

Even Alice in Wonderland ain't buyin' that "Obama is the lowest spending POTUS since Ike!"

While the rest of the country laughed hysterically at Press Flack in Chief Carney doing his imitation of the side-stepping gob'nor on the capitol steps in the Best Little Whorehouse in Texas, Sharp Shooter Annie Coulter was loading her six shooter. She commented this week:

It's been breaking news all over MSNBC, liberal blogs, newspapers and even The Wall Street Journal: "Federal spending under Obama at historic lows ... It's clear that Obama has been the most fiscally moderate president we've had in 60 years." There's even a chart!

I'll pause here to give you a moment to mop up the coffee on your keyboard. Good? OK, moving on ...

This shocker led to around-the-clock smirk fests on MSNBC. As with all bogus social science from the left, liberals hide the numbers and proclaim: It's "science"! This is black and white, inarguable, and why do Republicans refuse to believe facts?

Ed Schultz claimed the chart exposed "the big myth" about Obama's spending: "This chart -- the truth -- very clearly shows the truth undoubtedly." And the truth was, the "growth in spending under President Obama is the slowest out of the last five presidents."

Note that Schultz also said that the "part of the chart representing President Obama's term includes a stimulus package, too." As we shall see, that is a big, fat lie.

Schultz's guest, Reuters columnist David Cay Johnston confirmed: "And clearly, Obama has been incredibly tight-fisted as a president."

Everybody's keyboard OK?

On her show, Rachel Maddow proclaimed: "Factually speaking, spending has leveled off under President Obama. Spending is not skyrocketing under President Obama. Spending is flattening out under President Obama."

In response, three writers from "The Daily Show" said, "We'll never top that line," and quit.

For the rest of Annie's column, click here.

There is sooo much I'd like to say in comment about that Ed Schultz feller, but I try to keep this blog PG-13 rated in case your grandkids are sitting on yer laps...... so I won't!

About those Hope n' Change Cartoons....

... that I plagiarize, steal and otherwise share with all you Pilgrims on a regular educatin' basis.

I am please to note that this ole' blog has been added to their list of "Great Blogs' list. I hope y'all will note that and reciprocate with regular visits to one of the finer political cartoon blogs on the Internet.... Hope n' Change !!!!

(With a tip o' the Stetson to Al, my ole' Air Force vet buddy up in the People's Republic of Maryland, bless his POP (prisoner of progressivism) heart!

About that commencement address by Obamanation at the (captive) Air Force Academy on Wednesday..

In his usual modest fashion - BO used the word "I" 36 times. threw in two 'me's, while invoking 69 instances of "we" that were reminiscent of the Pope or the Queen's 'I' first person pronoun.

I'll bet those graduating upperclassmen thought their years of suffering hazing were over when they entered their second year.... a lesson learned, I reckon - with some POTUS's, it never ends.

I am reminded (by Ross Kaminsky) of one of George Will's more deliberate comments: "If you struck from Barack Obama's vocabulary the first-person singular pronoun, he would fall silent, which would be a mercy to us and a service to him, actually."

Go here for his whole article in American Spectator.

Word of the day.............. NOT!!!

Like most of y'all, when I come across a word that I have never seen before and can't define even within the context of it's use --- I Google it! In the old days before the Internet, I'da probably just breezed past it rather than dig out the 12 pound Webster's Dictionary.

But now, with the world at my fingertips, I no longer allow myself that privilege.

Thus when I was reading a short article today about the reasons for the high divorce rate among today's young married (read - 30 & 40 year olds), the author blamed it on the solipsism of that generation. Whoa Nellie! Solipsism? WTH?

So I looked it up on line:

Definition of SOLIPSISM

: a theory holding that the self can know nothing but its own modifications and that the self is the only existent thing;

I still didn't have a clue - but then fortunately ole' Merriam added: 'extreme egocentrism'.

Now that, after the last couple of years, I could understand. However, somehow I don't see myself adding this new word to my active, daily vocabulary - lest I spend my days trying to think of ways to insert the word in a conversation instead thinking about the topic at hand. That would be kinda solipsistic of me wouldn't it?

Figures don't lie..... do they?

Fact: In the year of 2008, in a National presidential election to determine the future of our country in a perilous time - over a two week early voting period, with absentee ballots for the absent, the infirmed, and the elderly..... Obama vs McCain

129 million Americans cast their vote for president

Fact: Tuesday evening, in a brief four hour period after the Nine PM EDT conclusion of the final competition on American Idol -- able to vote only by texting and other instant means... a 16 year old R&B singer vs a 22 year old guitar strumming country singer..

132 million Americans cast their vote for this years American Idol!

I'm not sure what to make of this -- do you?

Krauthammer on Hellary picked for Veep......

On Fox News, Charles Krauthammer, former head doctor turned pundit makes the case why Obamanation won't turn in desperation to Hellary to replace Joltin' Joe Bite-me. Krauthammer's very short response hits my common sense button - of course that might be because I agree with him totally.

Of course this doesn't take into consideration the fact that BO's 'Handlers' might take the decision out of his hands.....?

We reached a new 'LOW' in American journalism this week....

Even as a backslidin' Methodist - I know news when I see it. And I particularly know news -- when I don't see it.

The biggest, organized religious court assault on the US Gob'mint in history happened on Monday. No less than 43 different Catholic organizations sued the Obama Regime for stepping on their First Amendment rights with it's Obamacare directives on health care.

FORTY-THREE Lawsuits in one day! More than 50 million Catholics go to court! (You get the picture I reckon) Now then --

On Tuesday's evening news, NBC and ABC networks not only treated this as a non-story - they totally ignored it! Not a word, nada, zip, zilch. CBS mentioned it in passing but as a contraception story - not a First Amendment, religious news item.

We all know that the three broadcast networks and CNN are 'in the tank' for Obamanation and his cabal of socialist minded lefties... but Ye Gads! Not a word about one of the major stories of the year?

That ain't slanted journalism -- that's prima facie evidence for pulling their damned broadcast licenses and re-issuing them to real and serious 'news' groups....

If you agree and get a minute, why don't you e-mail someone you know that represents you in DC and tell 'em?

Move over MLK and Caesar Chavez......

San Francisco apparently has decided to name a city thoroughfare after their native daughter, Nancy Pelosi.....

$110,000 = Today's value of 'Thirty pieces of silver'??

For his entire Senate life, and culminating in 2007, ex-Senator Trent Lott was agin' the United Nations Law of the Sea Treaty (LOST) as it would "cede our national sovereignty, both militarily and economically.”

At least those were his words just five short years ago.

'The treaty would grant the United Nations unprecedented taxing authority over American companies by transferring permitting and royalty payments currently made to the U.S. government for offshore drilling to the International Seabed Authority, a U.N.-created agency that would have the power to redistribute billions of dollars to other countries.

It would also commit the United States to accept international arbitration of maritime disputes.'

For three decades, the United States has declined to sign on. But then....

“Over time, circumstances change,” Lott recently told The DC. “The world has changed from an economic and military standpoint. … Some people say ‘we have the biggest, baddest navy fleet in the world, we’ll go and do what we want to,’ [but] we ought to be careful about how we think about that.”

Oh, BTW - Lott founded the Breaux Lott Leadership Group with former Louisiana Sen. John Breaux in 2008. Last month The Heritage Foundation reported that Lott’s firm collected $80,000 in fees the first quarter of 2012 from the Shell Oil Company, to lobby on issues including support for the treaty’s ratification. Pike Associates also paid Lott’s firm $30,000 to support the treaty, according to disclosure forms.

Ain't it amazing what happens to a 'true patriot, and career public servant' when he crosses the Rubicon to the Lobbyist side of the Senate Cloak Room. I hope those silver coins burn the palm of his hand.....

Read more: http://dailycaller.com/2012/05/21/trent-lott-explains-support-for-treaty-he-once-said-would-create-un-on-steroids/#ixzz1vbthmzPf

Pssst. btw, I never cease to be amazed at just how cheaply these politico's sell out their souls, their consciences and their reputations.... and their country. $110K ain't a hellofalot of money for such crawlin'!

National Organization for (liberal) Women protest Rush Limbaugh...

After six weeks of a national rallying cry to run Rush Limbaugh off the airways after his intemperate remarks about Sandra Fluke (yep it rhymes) and her call for a $1000 worth of tax payer paid free condoms each year she is in college, the NOW organization pulled out all the stops this last Friday in front of the DC affiliate station that dares to air his program each day.

His twenty million weekly listeners will be dismayed, disheartened ?, to hear of the massive crowds that this great organization he calls 'NAG's' rallied for this TV opportunity.

I am told that the NOW organization and Media Matters guesstimated the crowd to be in excess of twenty-five thousand protesters. Unlike those two unbiased groups, folks with obvious conservative agendas -- set the number at closer to '7'..... as in Seven..... or for you Hawvawd grads, VII....

I reckon Rush and his sponsors are shaking and quaking at this overt show of solidarity! As one columnist said, "Rush will probably refer to them as the NAGnificent Seven."

Yesterday, I had the distinct privilege of watching the final round...

The name of the tournament is 'The Byron Nelson Classic'.... and a classic it was. As you all know,

Byron Nelson, was the perfect gentleman in a gentleman's game.

On the last hole yesterday, Dickey Pride, who has only won once on the tour in his twenty year career, and that was back in '94 (18 years ago), sank a 22 foot putt for a par and a tie with young Jason Dufner who was playing one hole behind.

With Dufner coming up behind him on the fairway, instead of running off to the putting green, Dickey Pride stood there, applauded when Dufner walked up to the green needing a birdie to win or a par to go into a playoff tied at -10 with Pride.

When Dufner sank his birdie putt from about 25 feet, Dickey applauded the putt as much as anybody present.

""Jason didn't take anything from me. He won the golf tournament. He won it by playing his game," Pride said"

A gentleman's game........ Rest in Peace, Byron Nelson ... your legacy persists!

Sometimes, political cartoonists get it perfectly!!

Of course there are a few of us who doubt that AG Holder had any credibility to begin with......

"Keep moving folks, there is nothing here to see, move along!"

(Thanx and a tip 0' the stetson to AF Vet Al, up in the People's Republic of Maryland.)

Whee Doggies, is there a 'Wolfe' in BO's Ballot Counting Henhouse?

After a convicted and jailed in Texas felon garnered 40% of all the Democrat primary votes from Obamanation in West (by God) Virginia -- BO's machine has gone to work to ensure that nobody spoils His coronation at the Dim's Convention in Charlotte.

Apparently, some unknown rascal and lawyer, named John Wolfe has registered properly for the presidential primary in Bubba Clinton's home state of Arkansas. And to add insult to injury, apparently it's turning into a tight race, with 'The One' only leading by seven points! 45 percent to 38 percent.

Well now - Debbie Whusser-shitz, DNC chairette to the rescue, working with the Arkansas Dim party officials to 'disenfranchise' Arkansas voters that vote for Mr Wolfe.

Or as Candidate Wolfe so aptly puts it:

“They want a coronation,” Wolfe tells THE WEEKLY STANDARD. “They’re conflating [Obama] with the party. Are we supposed to call him ‘Dear Leader’? Is this some kind of North Korea thing?”

Apparently, Chicagoland gangsta politics don't run so smooth where folks speak with a drawl!!

This is a bad, repeat dream I had last night.....

... it is just a dream isn't it?

Surely it can't be real -- it must be pure bovine waste in this election year, or there wouldn't even be a contest. I wonder how many of those 'Gimmie' folks that Obamacare proposes to protect... will actually be protected......

I'll bet Obamanation's kids and Biden's boys will be!! (not to mention all those Senators, Congressmen, bureaucrats in DC!)

Will you and your Mom & Dad?

174 days until November 6th and Freedom Day!!

Word of the day (week) (month) (year) - you choose!

While reading about this out of proportion IPO by Facebook today - I happened across an article regarding the neuvaux wealth of the Silicon Valley of California... or at least the wealth that is there until Jerry Brown finds a way to tax it, box it, and ship it to Sacramento for redistribution at his direction.

In any event - in this land of $1,200 blue jeans, $20,000 bicycles, basement theaters.... the word of the day is "cognoscenti"!

n. pl. co·gno·scen·ti (-t)
A person with superior, usually specialized knowledge or highly refined taste; a connoisseur.

Apparently, those folks can wear these expensive jeans or ride those ridiculously priced bikes because the unwashed crowds do not know or understand their value. Only their fellow millionaires (and there are a thousand of them in the neighborhood) understand and appreciate them.

Ain't that nice.......

Don't misunderstand, folks, I ain't knocking the accumulation of wealth through innovation and hard work - I'm knockin' the pretense that sometimes accompanies it. Apparently those unwashed mobs can recognize an expensive car - so the swells don't drive them to their private airports and jets - they put on their $1200 jeans to drive ordinary cars to avoid being spotted.... you figger it out...

About that 'Facebook' IPO....

I am reading today that Bono, of music (?) fame, became the richest musician in the world today through the new value of his Facebook stock, with a net worth North of a billion dollars! Congrats to him.

Now he can quit trying to find ways for US taxpayers to fund his favorite ego satisfying charities and start signing his own checks.........

Not bloody likely -- folks like him and Bubba Clinton and the rest of their ilk, only do good with OPM (other peoples money) they never touch their own.... even for their own expenses involved in their actions and travel.....

Story link from NY Times here.

Feds fine Utah school for selling sodas during lunch!!

Y'all probably will think, after reading this link, that I am concerned about the the Feds sticking their BIG GOB'MINT noses into a local school district!......

http://www.theblaze.com/stories/utah-school-fined-15000-for-accidentally-selling-soda-during-lunch/

Well friends, you'd be half right..... my real question is. 'What the hell business of the tax sucking, fat, intern banging, bureaucrats in Washington DC and phony baloney Dims in the White House with their million dollar Kobe Beef and $200 per bottle wine dinners - what the policies are on vending machines in some high school in Utah????

Think about that question -- !!

Then show me in the Constitution of the United States of America where it gives these silver haired, mindless, incompetent, self serving dictators (who swore to uphold that document) the right to even think of demanding such fines.... Enough already!! - Enough!!!!

This isn't about soda pop -- this is about the right of the school boards and citizens of Utah to decide what is right for the schools and machines of their states...

Duh, anybody ever,,,, EVER,,,, EVER heard of the Tenth Amendment?

Doing right while White? A firing 'cause in Detroit?

I've heard of places in this country where it's a crime to be DWB (Driving While Black) or even WWB (walking while Black)....... apparently in in Murder City USA, AKA, Detroit -- it's a crime to DRWW (Do Right While White).....

A white park worker with 23 years service, found a loaded handgun in the weeds while mowing, turned it in to his local police station and was..... praised by police and FIRED by the Park Service!!!!!!

You figure it out.....

Wayne County Worker Fired after Finding Gun on the Job: MyFoxDETROIT.com

I don't reckon that this is what Darwin had in mind......

One question begets another......

Obamanation and his cronies are hosting a so-called Nato-summit meeting in Chicago. However in this case, it's less of a summit and more of a 'pass the hat' or 'pass the tin cup' session wherein BO and his underlings are trying to raise nickels and dimes to help soften our $4 Billion (plus) commitment to Afghan Thief in Charge (ooops, sorry, little Freudian slip there) I meant Afghan Chief in Charge after we pull the brunt of our forces out of that bedraggled, poppy growing sand pile and let them return to the life style they've enjoyed for thousands of years until the Russians and the Yanks came along.

(take a breath, Pecoz, that was a long sentence...)

The reason given for trying to raise a few million here and a few million there to go into the pot is for the psychological purpose of making everybody feel like they've got a skin in the game and it's a broad coalition of the world taking part. Or something like that anyway.... They are looking for 'symbolic' donations, doncha' know.

That brought this question to my mind...... (watch it now - I'm changing gears)

If broad coalition and an appearance of everybody having a 'skin in the game' seems appropriate for buying uniforms and bullets for Karzai --- why doesn't the same logic apply here in the US of A? Why do we have a tax system that takes only from those who work and produce, while leaving the other 50% of the population just on the taking end of the equation with NO skin in the game?

Putting it another way - the current set up in this Democratic-Republic has everybody with an equal vote - and less than half with any investment in the process or operation or concern about long term success of the country. I'm not suggesting an answer to the question here --- like so many of today's pundits and bloggers -- I'm only asking the question.

Isn't there a better and fairer way to run this lash-up?

Best blogosphere reader comment of the week....

In the 'Yahoo' Finance news yesterday, it was reported that Skechers has just been assessed $40 million in settlement monies by the Federal Trade Commission for false advertising regarding their $100 'Shape-up' shoes. Included with the article was the required video clip of Kim Kardashian barely dressed (or is it dressed barely?) and giving all the credit for her toned body to the sneakers.

I'll link all you eager Kardashian fans to the clip, but first want to offer a big Texas compliment to the first commenter, 'SteveF', who said:

"If the Kardashians have any impact on your life's decisions you need to register for the special olympics and be fitted for a helmet."

Oh yeah, I promised to link you to the sweaty clip din't I?

Word of the day: LOGORRHEA !!

Yep folks, that's an actual word. Pronounced: one of two ways ---

a: Law-guh-ree-uh
b: Joe Biden

Logorrhea:
: pathologically excessive and often incoherent talkativeness or wordiness that is characteristic especially of the manic phase of bipolar disorder.

Personally, I find this trait of our Veep to be quite refreshing. Unlike his boss, Joltin' Joe Bite-me says what every passes through or by-passes his mind. No careful filtering, no teleprompter corrections, no audience perception -- he just spurts it out....

Got to love him! Unfortunately, rumors are spreading that with Obamanation sinking in the polls, his BO'ness may want to step away from this IED, dump him and find a nice dependable talking points reader... what a shame that would be for the next 173 days.

Wouldn't you just love to see a debate between Joltin' Joe and Chris Christie, or Bobby Jindal, or especially Marco Rubio? I sure would... hell, I'd pay admission!

It'd be a Big Effin' Deal!
