| | I read this morning in the London Daily Mail (where I seem to find most of my accurate current US news lately) that the Navy spent $450,000 to fly five jet fighters from Virginia to Arlington to fly over Cowboy Stadium during the Superbowl.
As we all know, the stadium roof was closed - the fans only saw the same five second TV shot that we did.
- The Navy claims it serves as a 'training' mission and aids recruitment. - The NFL gets the flyover free in exchange for the five second promo.
I'm not such a purist that I would say that flyovers of a closed stadium is similar to a cheerleader on the roof of an empty gym.......... but as a taxpayer, I gotta wonder,
..with all of the Navy & Air Force Reserve jet fighter squadrons here in Texas, from the coast up to the panhandle, wouldn't it make just a tad more sense to scramble five of them locals instead of Virginia's?
Just pondering.. | | | | | | | |
