Say what, Senator Schumer??

If I were to tell you that the second most powerful Dimmocrat Senator in the United States Senate didn't know as much about our government as 5th Graders and non-English speaking immigrants that want to become citizens have to know.......... you wouldn't believe me!!

So, I'll let him speak for hisself!!

Yes Pilgrims, you just heard the Senior Senator from New York define the United States Government as being comprised of Three Branches of Gob'mint! The House, the Senate, and the President!! Wait till the Supreme Court hears that they have been put out of work!!! Oh My!

What he really said in his SOTU address (according to Ramirez - who always get's it right!)

Read next post first, then come back to this one.....

One of the thousands of daily followers of this humble Blog was so taken with that Time Magazine cover of Obamanation and RWR in the next Post below, that he went undercover, literally, and found a copy of the back side of that picture.

So here....... is what RWR really thinks of 'The One'.......

XXXXXXX RATED!!!!!!!!

Friends, Pilgrims and Fellow Countrymen.... I have tried to keep this blog as a clean, family oriented site without the profanities you see on some sites.. This week however, Time Magazine (the Democratic National Committee's house weekly pamphlet) ran a cover so obscene it demands public review.

I am sorry to put it in front of your face - but I did warn you with the title to this post. Even knowing it is photo shopped does not take away from the shock to the senses. I thought that perhaps I was the most taken aback when I saw it, but then read today's editorial in the Washington Times and came to the conclusion that I am not alone.

Some liberal magazines will stoop to any level to sell peddle their filth - this is just one example!!

Next thing you know, they'll have Nancy Pelosi channeling Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher!! Oh the pain of it all... Or Hellary Clinton channeling Winston Churchill.... Oh my!

Oh my - Oh my

1974 - President Gerald Ford mantra: "Whip Inflation Now"

2011 - President Barack Obama mantra: "Winning The Future"

.........so, in the last thirty-seven years we have gone from:

1974 - WIN!

2011 - WTF?

Like those ladies cigarette ads used to say: "You've come a long way Baby!"

(Thanx and a Tip O' the Stetson, to my Vet pal Paul up in Rhode Island for this!)

A funny thing happened on the way to Universal Obamacare....

.... all the FOBs (Friends of Barack) got to get off the railroad train!!

.... on the way to ObamaNational Health Care.. I recall the hundred times I heard the words; "the only way the national health care system will work is if every citizen and worker is in the plan!"

Go to the link down below to read the current list of the almost 800 companies, unions, municipalities, school districts and states that have received exemptions and waivers!

If you ain't connected to the Administration = you pay to play --- if you are connected - you get a free pass.

Nothing unfair about this system is there?

As much as I hate to say it.....

..... I have to admit that I have a bad feeling about this so called 'war on the cops' we are all reading about this week. Ten policemen killed within 24 hours around the nation..... arghh!

As much as I hate to see these events happen to our first defenders, that line of blue that protects us from the animals in our society --- the bad feeling I get is only tangentially tied into these heinous killings. My concern is that the police associations and unions across the country (not the police officers themselves, but their looking for a cause unions), will use this situation to seize the headlines.

I expect by the weekend papers and talk shows, if not before, we are going to see or hear from the union talking heads that gob'mint reductions and cutbacks and layoffs at all levels are the cause of the problem. And that the situation will only be exacerbated (their favorite word) by additional cutbacks, layoffs, and reductions. Therefore, they will shout, we need more federal money thrown at states and communities across the land to prevent a total breakdown of our civilization as we know it....... and we need it now!

Hope that I'm wrong Pilgrims, but if I was gambling, I'd p
ut my money on this gambit. Rahmbo Emanuel set the example when he said, "Never let a good crisis go to waste!" People listen......

And while I'm on the subject --- is this not the absolute ugliest demonstrator sign you have ever seen in your lives? Talk about visual hate crimes. Why aren't these folks in jail? (click on the pic)

(And no, I don't know if it's real or photoshopped, and apparently Snopes doesn't know either)

Those 'Prom Dates' for the SOTU speech last nite....

seemed to draw more attention than the speech itself. Of course after hearing the speech, I can understand that....

I reckon I recognize all three of these characters... do you?

Regarding that State of the Union Speech....

I will say only this...... I watched (including the lead ins) BO read the entire speech, listened to every word, counted the applause's (standing and otherwise) and kept track of the 13 times that the phrase 'Win The Future' was used. I also noted Jumpin' Joe Biden and Speaker Boehner sitting on their butts for all but two minutes of the 62 minutes speech.... no Nancy in the Botox - this year. I won't tell you what I think tonight.... I'll let the pundits tell you!!!! (but I'm loving it)

I watched Paul Ryan's response in an empty room -- tough job - but best I've see of those responses.... it's not a fun gig, but he did well.

I watched Michele Bachman's Tea Party response.. fine speech - but unfortunately her teleprompter was about four feet high and four feet right of the camera -- it's hard to feel her passion when she is speaking to that picture of Uncle Waldo on the wall behind you.....

Over all..... I go to bed a happy camper.... and wait to hear the words 'dead', 'flat', and 'investment?' tomorrow morning..I was afraid it would be a 'barn burner' that might turn some heads, but it turned out to be a fizzle......

Sarah Palin on Ronald Reagan

During this period celebrating the 100th birthday of Ronald W Reagan, many folks are voicing complimentary words......... from both the Left and the Right.

Part of Sarah Palin's words:

"The image of the lifeguard seems to represent what Reagan was to America and to the freedom-loving people of the world. He lifted our country up at a time when we were in the depths of economic, cultural and spiritual malaise. We were told that we must accept that the era of American greatness was over; but with his optimism and common sense, President Reagan held up a mirror to the American soul to remind us of our exceptionalism. …'

She says it about as well as anybody -- but when I was reading this excerpt on HotAir.com, and then reading through the comments that accompanied this post.... I came across these words from "Turfman', a fellow blogger. They are certainly worth repeating and thinking about.

"I grew up during the Carter malaise and Reagan was my choice for my first vote for President. But as I have said many times, Reagan wasn’t Reagan until after Reagan. In other words, I didn’t come to fully appreciate his greatness until it was all over.

And we do not need another Reagan right now. We need someone slightly different in that we live in a different age.

I think, personally, that one of my grandchildren will some day write that, in retrospect, that Palin wasn’t Palin until after Palin.

Palin isn’t Reagan – and that is not a knock on her, nor on him."

turfmann on January 24, 2011

((Pecozbill note - I had no idea where to find Turfman to ask permission to post his words, but hope he doesn't mind!))

Pulitzer Prize winner Ramirez does it again.

There have been thousands of words written about the civility, or lack of it, in today's American political scene.

I've commented several times that our current condition is a hell of a lot more civilized than it has been in the past.. but, once again -- Ramirez nails it with a picture and seven words!!

I'm sure glad our forefathers weren't more concerned with civility than freedom. And after them, what if Lincoln had just 'wanted to get along?

The personification of such nose sniffin' behavior in the 20th Century is of course, Britain's Neville Chamberlain, when he went across the channel to join hands and sing Kumbaya with Adolf Hitler.

Nossirree Bob!! When socialists and libs started jumping up and down shouting, Civility! Civility! - be sure you are wearing a knife proof vest to protect your backside!! They'll not only stab you there, but grab your wallet while they're at it!

The market place prevails -- no need for gob'mint censorship.....

When MTV decided to take the low route and broadcast a borderline child porn series from Britain called aptly enough, 'Skins'..... folks raised hell. MTV pressed on... not to be shut down by the unwashed public. If kids wanna see kids banging kids, why not give it to 'em?

Wiser heads are prevailing in the market place however, and sponsors are dropping faster than the fly zippers in the series. H&R Block is the latest to say no thanks..... they join Taco Bell, Wrigley and General Motors in tearing up their checks.

It'll be interesting to see if the bean counters at MTV want to present the series as a 'public service' instead of a profit center..... I ain't no prude, but I say more power to these upstanding corporations for drawing the line at how their advertising dollars will be spent.... Hear Hear!!

It's all HER fault!!!!

Are Republicans forming a circular firing squad .... yet again?

I am reading that Representative Michelle Bachmann (R-Minn) is going to deliver an alternative response to Obamanation's 'State of the Disaster Speech' next Tuesday night.

So why the comment about the circular firing squad Pecoz? you ask. Because she will be delivering it in direct competition to Wisconsin Rep Paul Ryan (Chair - House Budget Committee) who has been designated to give the official Republican response.

Historically, these responses have been a disaster for the responding party -- witness the normally very articulate Louisiana Gov'nor Bobby Jindal bomb when he spoke to an empty room a couple of years ago. Last year for the first time, the GOP found a winning format in the newly elected Gov'nor of Virginia talking to a crowded room of believers.....

I reckon they can't stand success. Now they are gonna poop in their collective mess kits and compete with themselves . Go figure....

I understand that Miss Bachmann is trying very hard to keep the Tea Party separate from the GOP..... but there are better ways............ much better ways than this. Seems to me that she could listen to the SOTU speech, watch the GOP response, and then............and then present some thoughts from the Tea Party if some are necessary! How many cooks do we need in that kitchen?

The Dims must be rubbing their hands with glee..... ten days of running the House and they are already dividing, instead of uniting!!

Course, that's just my humble opinion.........

Who do I sue? Who can I sue!

All my life, I've known I was a VIRGO!! (No - not virgin, Gomer, VIRGO!)

I read my horoscope regularly, I planned my trips accordingly, I invested my money as directed for all good VIRGOs............ I even married a PISCES, knowing that opposites attract!

Now after all these years, I find I've been mis-pigeonholed and am really a LEO... what's up with that? And my bride of more than fifty years is an AQUARIUS fer crying out loud!

How many opportunities have we missed, how many times have we endangered our lives by following the wrong advice........... I'm tell ya, there ought to be a law!!!

Who do I sue? And by the way, what the hell is an "OPHIUCHUS"???

Here is the sign of OPHIUCHUS. looks more like the logo for Obamacare to me........ how about y'all?

What would MLK say?

What you are looking at in this picture (click and come back if you need a better view) is a picture of the MLK Day Rally in Columbia SC this past Monday.

It is being staged on the Statehouse Steps, and that statue on the left that is boxed in and cloaked in black, is none other than the 'Father of our Country', George Washington, First President of the United States.

The NAACP organizers of the rally explained that the statue of General Washington was covered up 'so as not to offend anybody'!!

Say what?

Fortunately the good people of this country would never do it, but can you imagine the outcry if on George Washington's Birthday, or the 4th of July, the Nation's Birthday, where ever parades were held, Dr King's statues were draped with black bed sheets........ Katy bar the door!!

Like I said, fortunately the good people of the country would never do such a thing........after all, what would MLK say?

Tuscon Sheriff Dipshit Lip Locked by Prosecutors....

This today from Newsbusters (and a hundred other sources, but Newsbusters says it best!!)

#20
Sheriff Dipstick muzzled by prosecutors

It seems the prosecutors in Arizona have finally caught on to what conservatives have said for days. Dipstick is giving the defense free advice and undermining the investigation against Loughner. Now he's finally being forced to put a stop to it.

"Until further notice, due to a controversy between the Sheriff's Department and the County Attorney's office, no further information reference the January 8, 2011 shooting will be released."

Maybe this little gem played a role in it...

"I've spent all my day dealing with the media as I did yesterday, so I really haven't had an opportunity today to get into that kind of detail."

So the county sheriff put in direct charge of the crime scene admits on national news that he's so obsessed with media attention he hasn't even made the time to review new evidence. And for defense attorneys everywhere, there was much rejoicing. Mission accomplished, Markos Moulitsas.

Are you ready for a one question 'POP QUIZ'?

Okay, here's the question, you have ten seconds to answer.....

What country in the world enjoys the most economic freedom?

Take your time -- don't rush -- OK, times up.... your answer is________?

If you said 'The United States'... you fail. As a matter of fact, the USA isn't 2nd either, or third. Not even in the top five.... the USA comes in......ta da....... Number Nine.

That's a hell of a chant isn't it.... "We're number Nine, We're number Nine!"

The top ten countries in the world are:
1. Hong Kong (yep - under them rascally Chicoms)
2. Singapore
3. Australia
4. New Zealand
5. Switzerland
6. Canada
7. Ireland
8. Denmark
9, United States (finally!!!!!!!)
10. Bahrain

In case you'd like to know a little more about how we got into this sorry state, I'll link you to two different sources...........both short and to the point.... I hope you'll read 'em!!!

'Cause when that 112th Congress tries to drag us back from the precipice .... we need to be informed enough to support their efforts.... God knows, Obamanation ain't gonna help!!

This one will take you to an article in Townhall.com.

This one will take you to the original charts and explanations at Heritage.org.

With all the falderal over Sarah Palin's PAC Map.....

.... it is amazing how many folks just keep on, keeping on. Take a gander at this flyer for a Dimmocrat fund raiser next Monday in Boone County, Missouri .....

Then take a look at the sweet kid, in the cooking pot with a bulls eye target over his darlin' belly!

Then take a look at the Dim's logo in the lower right hand corner --- is it me, or do you see the words shaped like a pistola aiming to the left.......... and the whole thing superimposed over a target?

Lord luv a duck......... aren't there any adults out there anymore? Or at least campaign managers with IQ's higher than the room temperature?

And it's not like folks ain't plumb sensitive to such idiocy... I understand that CNN broadcast an apology because one of the talking head guests used the words 'in the crosshairs'...... oh my!! oh my!!

Oh well, I guess this flyer will get Broome County Dimmocrats their fifteen minutes of fame!!!

Tilting at windmills?

Last year in his State of the Union message, Obamanation allowed as how he was gonna save our nation by making us a nation of windmill makers and solar panel peddlers. This of course, notwithstanding the fact that Spain was going broke building windmills and the tedious work of constructing solar panels can be done much cheaper in Mexico, and Asian countries.

But, he kept his chin up, his nose higher and paid no attention to such details.... he is, after all, 'The One'!!

I note that in October the Indian billionaire, Anil Ambani, of Reliance Power, signed a $10 Billion dollar deal with China's gob'mint owned Shanghai Electric to buy power generating equipment from them. Not only was the price right, undercutting our General Electric's prices by 30%, but also offering Chinese Gob'mint loans at low rates to make the deal even sweeter for the billionaire Indian.

Now then Pilgrims, I don't fault Mr Ambani for taking the best deal, nor do I fault China for 'bringing home the bacon' to their job market..... but I do wonder --

"Does anybody know a country or company that wants to buy ten billion dollars worth of windmills?" Jest wondrin'.........

Go here for the full bad news story -- world leaps forward, US drops back!

Editorial Cartoon of the Week

With the insanity in Tuscon last week, and the blood lust the Dims demonstrated thereafter, there was a plethora of outstanding political editorial cartoons the last few days.... but I decided to pass on them....

With the price of gas at the pump rising, and after watching the price of eggs in local grocery store rise 50%, pork rise 25%, beef rise 25%, and milk rise 15% -- I think that this cartoon, reflecting the insanity of spending billions of our tax dollars subsidizing the corn ethanol fuel program --

You know..... the one where they use the equivalent of 1.25 gallons of gas to produce one gallon of ethanol!! Pure damned pork barrel bull excrement, Should be number one on the cutting room floor of the 112th Congress --- but those Corn Belt senators of both parties won't let it be touched, much less cut altogether - of course!!

Don't tell an American Vet that he can't fly a flag...

Here is a 'feel good story' about a young student who was told by his school that he couldn't fly the American flag on his bike when riding it to school..

Wrong answer. What makes the story special is the lad seems like just a typical All American boy, not some spoiled brat that has an ax to grind or wants to prove something..

Obama Care Tax increases........

Just in case you don't happen to be a 'religious objector, illegal alien, prisoner, poverty stricken, an American Indian, or a HHS hardship case', you might want to check out this PDF printable version of the tax increases that arrive with Obamacare..

I'm not sure what 'Hardship cases determined by HHS' are, but suspect it has something to do with contributing to Obamanation's re-election campaign or something! And maybe members of Congress?

Anyway - I'm just offering up this link - you can decide if you want to read it and weep or not!

Click here to go to the summary sheet!

By the way, you can also check to see if your congressional Reps signed on to the Taxpayer Protection Pledge while you are there... I was pleased to see that both of my Texas Senators have signed on, and not surprised that my left wingnut, heir to the Henry Gonzalez seat in the House, Representative Chuckie Gonzalez did not.

Winners of the Al Gorebot "Out on a Limb" Award

Two daring Canadians, have made themselves instant candidates for the annual, 'Al Gorebot - Out on a Limb' Award. How did they achieve this, you ask? I'll tell you....

Shawn Marshall, an associate professor of geography at the University of Calgary, and Nathan Gillett (of) Environment Canada, have predicted --- are you sitting down.... here goes;

That unless every human on the planet stops creating carbon dioxide by the end of this year, the West Antarctic Ice sheet will collapse and seas will rise by 13 feet! And just when will this happen, you ask? According to Marshall and Gillett, it will happen by the year 3000 AD!!!!!

Whoa Nellie! In a mere 989 years! Are these lads risking it all - or what.....

Heck, I remember when Jeanne Dixon used to predict the future one year at a time, was wrong most of the time, but nobody ever checked. Any of you pilgrims want to plant a Time Capsule with this daring prediction in it, to be opened by the citizens of 3000 AD to check on these dudes and their predictions? I thought not.

And I'm not gonna rush out and buy wood for an ark just yet either!! Hmm, I wonder if these guys are selling plans for suchlike?

Inanity - our Gob'mint at work!!

Twenty-one Senators, (including one Independent, five RINO's, and fifteen Dims) and nine Dim Representatives (out of the combined total of 535) have declared that the political parties should be 'integrated' for the State of the Union speech on January 25th.

The apparent purpose, excepting Barney Franks and friends, is to provide a picture of togetherness after that event in Tuscon! You know, the event where a complete wacko, apolitical, nut job - shot a Dem congresslady, a Republican Federal Judge and a sweet young 9 year old girl who never got to vote for anybody..... as well as eleven others.....

But according to these congressional morons, the feller was inspired by ugly right wing vitriol! Go figger that out on your abacus. Now, I gotta suspect other motives for this inanity. Could it be that the Dims are out to snooker the GOP Leaders who would, by agreeing to this change, be tacitly admitting that it was 'right wing vitriol' that caused this shooting rampage.

Or could it be even more basic, they don't want the American public to view on their own TV sets just how many of the former Dim seats have been filled with GOP members by the Nations voters in this last election? I don't recollect them proposing this integration stuff when they had the majority.....

Since they aren't gonna have Nancy-in-the-Box Pelosi leaping up and down every time the POTUS glances over to the other TOTUS to see what he's gonna say next --- I guess they want us to focus on something else.....

Of course, there is one more reason that former RINO, Independent Senator Murcowwwski (AK) initially proposed this ---- she mighta' been afraid nobody would sit by her!!

How do you sue a rat?

And more to the point, wouldn't it be hard to find a lawyer to represent you in such a suit.... professional courtesy and all that!

Seems like a Nassau County (Long Island) Correctional Center (Jail to y'all) guest was bitten on the penis by a mouse/rat/rodent (pick one) and now wants to sue. The headline on BBC News reads:

"Judge rules inmate 'bitten on penis by rodent' may sue"

This got my immediate attention --- how does one sue a rodent I wondered? Turns out, the inmate decided the County had deeper pockets than the mouse/rat, so he is suing them instead of the rodent.

I'll bet if the rodent was related to Mickey Mouse - with all his billion$, the inmate's lawyer would be suing him, not Nassau County!

Maine Gob'nor to NAACP whiners -- "Kiss my butt!"

Finally, a Gob'nor and politician that refuses to be led around by the nose. Now, if I could just figger a way how to vote for him without having to move to Maine!!

As my grandkids would say, "You Rock, Governor LePage'!!!

....On Political civility......

I don't know about you Pilgrims, but I'm sick and damned tired of hearing all the mealy mouthed whining and handwringing over the lack of 'civility' in our modern day politics. Shucks, compared to events in this great country's short history -- folks are plumb pleasant nowadays...

Folks seem to forget that the US of A was in it's infancy when the former Secretary of the Treasury Alexander Hamilton and the sitting Veep, Aaron Burr shot it out in a duel in 1804. Hamilton was mortally wounded and the Federalist Party which he led, soon disappeared. (Google for yourself - it's interesting reading)

That my friends, was the 'civil, well mannered times' to which our wussy friends on the left would like us to return. Everybody seemed to be running around participating in duels... whenever they felt slighted by the other party.

We may have the occasional sicko/wack job running around with a handgun today, but our politicians only attack each other with adjectives -- not dueling pistols. Not even a decent case of fisticuffs.

Hmmm, from what I've seen of the two of them, if Obamanation and Sarah Palin were called to 'toe the line', I wonder which of them would be the no show.... Just kidding folks, I don't really wonder..... I've got a pretty good idea.

Sarah would be standing there in her mukluks and BO would send Rahm to stand in for him. Rahm would stand behind Biden who would duck behind Schumer would would hide behind the MSNBC camera man on the scene...... the first time Schumer ever crouched behind a camera instead of leaping in front of it.

I wonder if our present day politicians ever take enough time away from reading their press clippings to read a little of American History?

Two great editorial cartoons this week, you decide which you prefer...Ramirez (again) and Chip Bok

Cold, Colder....COLDEST!!!

Howard Fineman (formerly of Newsweek until that leftist mag became too mainstream for him) in a column he now contributes as he sits comfortably on the Port side of the good ship HuffingtonPost, this weekend ----- has taken the left wingnut's screeches one note higher..

His open advice to Obamanation is to use the Tuscon Memorial service as a political tool to enhance the Left's agenda. After pointing out that 'W' and Bubba both enhanced their ratings by performing well in their times of crisis, Oklahoma City - 9/11, respectively, that this tragedy would be a superb place for the One to improve his image.

He closed his column of advice with these words - which speak volumes about the current state of affairs in the left's media jungle.

"As was the case with Clinton, Obama may be able to remind voters of what they like best about him: his sensible demeanor. Amid the din and ferocity of our political culture, he respectfully keeps his voice down, his emotions in check and his mind open.

That is the pitch, at least. The trick is to make it without seeming to be trying to make it. He will, after all, be speaking at a funeral."

You can hear more from this upstanding member of the Fourth Estate during his many visits with Chris Matthews, Keith Olbermann, and Rachel Maddow... all of whom are sterling moderate voices of the air.

How Ironic.............

This year, both Groundhog Day and the State of the Union Address occurs on the same day, Feb. 2, 2011.

“It is an ironic juxtaposition of events: One involves a meaningless ritual in which we look to an insignificant creature of little intelligence for prognostication.

While the other involves a groundhog."

(thanks and a Tip O' the Stetson to Air Force Bud Jay down in Florida)

Who is targeting whom???

I was gonna leave the story of this twisted kid alone -- everybody is beating it to death, But since I haven't heard one MSM outlet mention that most if not all, of his school friends are describing Laughner as a 'Left-Wing Pothead' .. I wonder why they don't report that -- surely they don't have an agenda that that description doesn't fit, do they?

I was gonna leave this story alone - but I keep hearing that this twisted kid has been 'bad mouthing and stalking' Gabby Giffords since 2007. Hmm, that would be a year before Sarah Palin ever left Alaska to visit the Lower 48?

Hmmm, that would be two years before the Tea Party came into being? Hmmm...

Now then, who is targeting whom? And I ain't even gonna mention the comments of the mealy mouthed Tuscon sheriff, the expected cry for new gun legislation from the left? Just like we don't already have a zillion laws on the books now that aren't being uniformly enforced?

Naw - I ain't gonna mention.....

But what you Pilgrims and I need to watch for, is the self serving weenies in Congress trying to used this singular incident to justify armored SUV's, protection details and more for each and every one of them...... Moving their 'Ruling Class' one step further away from the tax paying governed!!!

So BS Bob Gibbs left the White House....

.... to sell Shamwow on TV!!

"It's like Obamacare! It sucks, but you'll love it!!"

You say it your way, I'll say it mine..............

Still glowing from his multi-million dollar Hawaiian vacation, Barack Obama happily announced that the unemployment rate dropped to 9.4% last month... but was a little skimpy on the details.

And small wonder; although jobs increased by 103,000 last month, experts had expected the number to rise by as much as 300,000. Additionally, the jobless rate went down statistically because a surprisingly large number of people simply gave up on the Obama economy once and for all, and decided to just accept the fact that they'll be watching the Oprah Network 24 hours a day for the rest of their hopeless little lives.

Which, in Obama's world, is viewed as a success.

Huckleberry Finn - First Revision............

The Ghost of Thanksgiving Yet to Come (a lesson in the making)

This is a whole lot longer than anything I've ever thrown in here -- but as we watch the GOP try to rein in our Socialist Gob'mint -- I thought it might be a good time to share this great little story from the Canada Free Press last November --

“Winston, come into the dining room, it’s time to eat,” Julia yelled to her husband. “In a minute, honey, it’s a tie score,” he answered. Actually Winston wasn’t very interested in the traditional holiday football game between Detroit and Washington. Ever since the government passed the Civility in Sports Statute of 2017, outlawing tackle football for its “unseemly violence” and the “bad example it sets for the rest of the world,” Winston was far less of a football fan than he used to be. Two-hand touch wasn’t nearly as exciting.

Yet it wasn’t the game that Winston was uninterested in. It was more the thought of eating another TofuTurkey. Even though it was the best type of VeggieMeat available after the government revised the American Anti-Obesity Act of 2018, adding fowl to the list of federally-forbidden foods, (which already included potatoes, cranberry sauce and mince-meat pie), it wasn’t anything like real turkey. And ever since the government officially changed the name of “Thanksgiving Day” to “A National Day of Atonement” in 2020 to officially acknowledge the Pilgrims’ historically brutal treatment of Native Americans, the holiday had lost a lot of its luster.

Eating in the dining room was also a bit daunting. The unearthly gleam of government-mandated fluorescent light bulbs made the TofuTurkey look even weirder than it actually was, and the room was always cold. Ever since Congress passed the Power Conservation Act of 2016, mandating all thermostats—which were monitored and controlled by the electric company—be kept at 68 degrees, every room on the north side of the house was barely tolerable throughout the entire winter.

Still, it was good getting together with family. Or at least most of the family. Winston missed his mother, who passed on in October, when she had used up her legal allotment of live-saving medical treatment. He had had many heated conversations with the Regional Health Consortium, spawned when the private insurance market finally went bankrupt, and everyone was forced into the government health care program. And though he demanded she be kept on her treatment, it was a futile effort. “The RHC’s resources are limited,” explained the government bureaucrat Winston spoke with on the phone. “Your mother received all the benefits to which she was entitled. I’m sorry for your loss.”

Ed couldn’t make it either. He had forgotten to plug in his electric car last night, the only kind available after the Anti-Fossil Fuel Bill of 2021 outlawed the use of the combustion engines—for everyone but government officials. The fifty mile round trip was about ten miles too far, and Ed didn’t want to spend a frosty night on the road somewhere between here and there.

Thankfully, Winston’s brother, John, and his wife were flying in. Winston made sure that the dining room chairs had extra cushions for the occasion. No one complained more than John about the pain of sitting down so soon after the government-mandated cavity searches at airports, which severely aggravated his hemorrhoids. Ever since a terrorist successfully smuggled a cavity bomb onto a jetliner, the TSA told Americans the added “inconvenience” was an “absolute necessity” in order to stay “one step ahead of the terrorists.” Winston’s own body had grown accustomed to such probing ever since the government expanded their scope to just about anywhere a crowd gathered, via Anti-Profiling Act of 2022. That law made it a crime to single out any group or individual for “unequal scrutiny,” even when probable cause was involved. Thus, cavity searches at malls, train stations, bus depots, etc., etc., had become almost routine. Almost.

The Supreme Court is reviewing the statute, but most Americans expect a Court composed of six progressives and three conservatives to leave the law intact. “A living Constitution is extremely flexible,” said the Court’s eldest member, Elena Kagan. “Europe has had laws like this one for years. We should learn from their example,” she added.

Winston’s thoughts turned to his own children. He got along fairly well with his 12-year-old daughter, Brittany, mostly because she ignored him. Winston had long ago surrendered to the idea that she could text anyone at any time, even during Atonement Dinner. Their only real confrontation had occurred when he limited her to 50,000 texts a month, explaining that was all he could afford. She whined for a week, but got over it.

His 16-year-old son, Jason, was another matter altogether. Perhaps it was the constant bombarding he got in public school that global warming, the bird flu, terrorism or any of a number of other calamities were “just around the corner,” but Jason had developed a kind of nihilistic attitude that ranged between simmering surliness and outright hostility. It didn’t help that Jason had reported his father to the police for smoking a cigarette in the house, an act made criminal by the Smoking Control Statute of 2018, which outlawed smoking anywhere within 500 feet of another human being. Winston paid the $5000 fine, which might have been considered excessive before the American dollar became virtually worthless as a result of QE13. The latest round of quantitative easing the federal government initiated was, once again, to “spur economic growth.” This time they promised to push unemployment below its years-long rate of 18%, but Winston was not particularly hopeful.

Yet the family had a lot for which to be thankful, Winston thought, before remembering it was a Day of Atonement. At least he had his memories. He felt a twinge of sadness when he realized his children would never know what like was like in the Good Old Days, long before government promises to make life “fair for everyone” realized their full potential. Winston, like so many of his fellow Americans, never realized how much things could change when they didn’t happen all at once, but little by little, so people could get used to them.

He wondered what might have happened if the public had stood up while there was still time, maybe back around 2010, when all the real nonsense began. “Maybe we wouldn’t be where we are today if we’d just said ‘enough is enough’ when we had the chance,” he thought.

Maybe so, Winston. Maybe so.

One small step for man.......

.... one giant smack down on political correctness.

The Pennsylvania State Police have agreed to a policy change
and will stop citing folks for firing profanities without a license.
If a motorcycle swerves in front of you --- you may now fire
four letter words at will without fear of receiving a disorderly
conduct ticket.....

ACLU is pleased.......motorcyclists who swerve in and out of
traffic have yet to be heard from.

Here is a link to the story.

'I can change my tune in one election!"

On ABC's 'This Week", the DNC Morning show on Sunday, Senior White House economic advisor AustanGoolsbee warned that failure to raise the debt limit would be 'catastrophic'!

He added: "It pains me that we would even be talking about this,... This is not a game. You know, the debt ceiling is not something to toy with. …"

Flash back to 2006, when his boss, then the junior senator from Illinois said on the Senate Floor:

"The fact that we are here today to debate raising America’s debt limit is a sign of leadership failure. It is a sign that the U.S. Government can’t pay its own bills. It is a sign that we now depend on ongoing financial assistance from foreign countries to finance our Government’s reckless fiscal policies. … Increasing America’s debt weakens us domestically and internationally. Leadership means that ‘the buck stops here. Instead, Washington is shifting the burden of bad choices today onto the backs of our children and grandchildren. America has a debt problem and a failure of leadership. Americans deserve better."

And then voted AGAINST the bill raising the debt limit. He was AWOL for the votes in 2007 and 2008.

World Borders Week?

Early in the week, our own 'Big Sis' Secretary of Homeless Security was lecturing on the importance of a country maintaining the integrity of the national border - and controlling access to the country.

The bad news she was in Afghanistan lecturing their gob'mint about their border with Pakistan instead of Southern California or New Mexico!

Today I see a "giant new border wall" is being constructed to keep out a flood of new illegal immigrants..... unfortunately, the wall is being built by the Greeks along their border with Turkey, not in Southern California or New Mexico!

Bid'ness as usual in this US of A, I reckon......

One more ugly sign of the times......

Parents of the 450 pupils (aged 3 to 11) at Applecroft primary school in Welwyn Garden City, England, were given individualized yearbooks recently with all the children's faces obscured by black bars over the eyes (except for photos of the recipient's own children, which had no obstructions). The precautions (described by one parent as "creepy," like kids were "prisoner(s)") were ordered by headmistress Vicky Parsley, who feared that clear photos of children would inevitably wind up in child pornography. Last year, Parsley famously prohibited parents from taking photographs during school plays -- of their kids or any others -- for the same fear. Link here: [Daily Mail, 11-27-10

Dim Dems Dump on Voters in Smallsville, WA...

I ain't just sure, Pilgrims, but I'm thinking that the Dem dimwits done lost a whole family (perhaps a whole community) of votes up in the blue state of Washington. There is a word we used to use in the military to describe this kind of activity - I won't spell it out for you, but it ended with "Cluster...k"!!!

Family of fallen soldier warmed by letters, stung by politicians

Posted By Adam Ashton on December 30, 2010

The parents of a Yelm soldier killed in Afghanistan earlier this month have received cards from friends and strangers expressing condolences, and they’re grateful for the support.

“As a father of someone killed, it is overwhelming,” said Lt. Col. Patrick Collins (Ret.). His son, Sgt. Sean Collins, was buried Wednesday at the Tahoma National Cemetery.

Among that outpouring of empathy, two politicians inadvertently stung the family.

One slight came in a letter of condolences the family received from the office of Sen. Maria Cantwell, D-Wash.

At first, the Collins family appreciated that Cantwell had taken the time to send a letter acknowledging their son’s sacrifice.

But the letter misidentified the slain soldier in its last paragraph, which reads:

“Again, please accept my warmest condolences. May your memories of Bryn and the knowledge that he made a positive impact on the lives of so many serve as a source of comfort to you during this time of sorrow.”

The letter was dated Dec. 20 and delivered to Sean Collins’ mother, Linda Collins of Yelm. The error conveyed to the family that Cantwell had sent a form letter.

“They couldn’t even proofread it,” she said. “I’m sure if her son had died, she would’ve at least wanted his name spelled correctly.”

“That’s just sloppy staff work, that’s an embarrassment,” Patrick Collins said. He has not yet called Cantwell’s office to ask for an apology.

Cantwell’s office is on short staffing for the holiday week and has not replied to an email to its press staff. The Collins family was in touch with Cantwell’s office in the capital Thursday, and was told Cantwell’s staffers were looking into the mistake.

The other slight came when Patrick Collins called the White House and asked to have President Obama call his ex-wife, Linda, to talk about their son.

He was told that Obama did not regularly make phone calls to the families of fallen soldiers.

Later, Patrick Collins read a story about Obama’s phone call to Philadelphia Eagles owner Jeffery Lurie. Obama reportedly praised Lurie for giving quarterback Michael Vick a second chance to play football after serving time in prison for running a dog fighting ring.

“That burns,” Patrick Collins said Thursday.

“Any soldier that gets killed in action, you’d think the president would be calling someone in the family. There’s no politics in it. His predecessor did it,” Collins said.

What do you think? You reckon they'll be sending a generous check to Ms Senator Cantwell for her 2012 re-electon campaign soon?

Happy 2011 to Y'all.........

No, I ain't been drunk and disorderly the last few days -- my machine has been kicking my butt all over the office.... Hopefully the problem is settled down fer a while!! Although I am sitting here keying (typing?) on my original keyboard that came with this lash up. Little devil feels like I'm typing on one of those pansy-azz laptops or notebooks after two years of keying on my kick butt 3 foot ergonomic, wavy keyboard.

Oh well..... Hope you and y'all's had a safe and happy holiday season, whichever one you celebrate. as long as you don't celebrate the 'Winter Holiday" or 'Winter Solstice' Season... if that's your bag - I hope you was miserable!!!

The onliest New Years Resolution I ever kept was one I made about ten years ago -- and that was 'I will not make any more New Years Resolutions!'

But once again, I am gonna try to stay away from Obamanation (although he do make it hard) 'cause there are so many great professional Blogs that do him up plumb fancy! I'll try to stick to the more local stuff -- or what ever grabs my fancy --- If there is something you'd like to see me kick around (and down the street) make a comment here or e-mail me and I'll see if I can oblige!
