Another WWII veteran died yesterday.......

.... his name was Bernard Schwartz, and he enlisted in the Navy at the age of 17 determined to become a submariner. He never got the chance to earn his Dolphin badge, but served on the Sub-Tender, USS Proteus (AS-19) in the Pacific and was wounded in Guam.

His greatest thrill? Being present aboard his ship at Yokosuka where from the signal bridge of his ship. ...... he witnessed the Document of Surrender aboard the USS Missouri in Tokyo Bay.

Oh yes................ we knew him best as the infamous hustler and Supply Officer, Lt Nicholas Holden of the USS Sea Tiger of "Operation Petticoat" fame.

You may also know him better as, Tony Curtis!

Rest in Peace Bernard --- and thank you for your service!

Mourning in America

As the country wallows in debt, jobs disappear, unemployment money runs out -- we have our Obamanation appointed National Commission on Fiscal Responsibility and Reform working diligently to help solve our problems.

As a demonstration of such high thinking and deep concern, the National Organization for Women (NOW) will be delivering 1,500 baby bottle nipples to commission Co-chairman Alan Simpson today to protest his e-mail last month:

"It began last month when Simpson, a former Republican senator from Wyoming, sent an email to Ashley Carson, executive director of the Older Women’s League, saying that there were people on Social Security “who milk it to the last degree. You know ‘em too. It’s the same with any system in America. We’ve reached a point now where it’s like a milk cow with 310 million tits! Call when you get honest work!”

NOW, showing their usual clASS, calls it's campaign, "Tits for an Ass".

I reckon even if he'd of said the more familiar bovine term, teats, they'd still be milking this for more publicity.

Has anybody noticed NOW standing up proudly for the strong voice of Sarah Palin, or showing support for Christine O'Donnell, Carly Fiorina,, and the rest of the outstanding, strong women running for public offices across the land this year..... No? I thought not.

I reckon their slogan - is "keep 'em outta the kitchens, pregnant and in abortion clinics for annual appointments'. It's a strange country and a strange time.

Isn't even their name, 'National Organization FOR Women' kind an oxymoron?

Question of the day.....

After writing the post down below regarding the Porkulus Bill of almost a trillion dollars.... as in $854,000,000 of our grandchildren's tax dollars (plus interest of course) thrown out among Obamations cronies and fellow travelers....

I got to wondering ................??

Just suppose that instead of spending money we don't have, the administration and the congress had granted $854,000,000 worth of tax relief (yes - you can call 'em tax breaks) to companies that invested in their brick and mortar sites, hired new employees, expanded their inventory & operations and opened new enterprises..... just supposing!

I wonder how many jobs would have been created -- permanent, solid jobs in the private economy? Wage earning jobs where the employee pays income taxes. Would there have been a net balance?

Nah, never happen --- Obamanation's brand of socialism isn't about creating jobs in the private sector --- just those public sector, gob'mint employee types...

Oh, Never mind......!

A 'Rule Too Far'??

For years, the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has grown and fed on itself like a tapeworm inside the Beltway. Originally established to monitor and execute the environmental laws from Congress and the POTUS, the department has taken on a life of it's own.

Every man, woman and child in this country has been effected by the EPA. At the gas pump, at the annual vehicle inspection station, in our electric bills, our water bills, our taxes, housing, grocery stores - everywhere. They brook no resistance from local or state gob'mints. Or even other Fed agencies.

But perhaps, they are now about to overstep so high a benchmark - that they will bring down their own house of cards.

In the last year, after a trillion dollar 'stimulus' spending spree -- we (the US) has suffered a net job loss in the hundreds of thousands.....

The EPA, however, is about to effect a new rule for standards for boilers (title too long) called Boiler MACT for short, which the EPA Administrator signed last April, and which will put entire industries out of bid'ness. And create a short term job loss of 800,000+ !!!! Note - this is a 'rule' from a gob'mint agency -- not legislation passed by our representatives in the congress.

The good news is that it has put CEO's, Unions, Industries, politicians and even academicians on the same side of the table.....! The other side!!

Let's hope this is the final straw - not just another straw.........!!!! Gonna be interesting to see if somebody blinks --- or pulls out their sword and draws a line in the sand.....

When the USA is 'highjacked' from within --- is that treason?

Folks I read an extremely disturbing article today (which I'll link you to) that caused me to go back to the basics and refresh my memory on the basic requirements for citizenship in this great country. Besides the residency length, moral standards and the rest -- there are these:

English Language Ability

You will have to pass a test verifying basic English language ability (some exceptions apply). The test is not difficult--if you can read this article, you should have no problem passing the test.

Knowledge of U.S. History and Government

You will have to pass a test on U.S. history and government. This test is not particularly difficult. An example of a typical test question is: "What are the colors of the U.S. flag?"

When you've finished that, I invite your attention to the linked list of New Jersey Voter Registration applications -- a whole different state than Missouri--- and when you view it, ask yourself --- WHAT THE HELL IS GOING ON IN OUR COUNTRY? What's up with all those foreign language applications if they all need to speak and read basic English??

Then get mad and do something --- at least volunteer as an official poll watcher in your community and encourage others to do the same.

Barbara Boxer: Faint with damned praise?.... or

..... Damned with no praise?? The uber-liberal San Francisco Chronicle - faced with a very important California Senator race between the dependably left wing, knee jerk voting of Barbara (Call me Senator) Boxer and a free enterprise, conservative self made millionairess, Carly Fiorina........... WILL NOT ENDORSE THEIR OWN TRAINED PET.......BABS BOXER!

In a scathing (in it's indifference) editiorial Sunday, they point out that Boxer has an indifferent 18 year resume in the Senate and yet: "There is no reason to believe that another six-year term would bring anything but more of the same uninspired representation."

They go on to add that Carly Fiorina (R) would probably be vigorous and effective in the Senate -- but not of course, for their liberal agenda!

This NON-ENDORSEMENT is probably the worst bitch slap that Boxer has ever received, even more so than her Dem Senate leader's snubs and by committee leadership by-passes!

Just in case any of you Pilgrims think the the United Nation is not staying on top of things and spending those billions of tax dollars we give it for their highest and best use --- as reported by Australian news:

UN to appoint Earth Contact for aliens

THE United Nations was set today to appoint an obscure Malaysian astrophysicist to act as Earth’s first contact for any aliens that may come visiting.

Mazlan Othman, the head of the UN's little-known Office for Outer Space Affairs (Unoosa), is to describe her potential new role next week at a scientific conference at the Royal Society’s Kavli conference centre in Buckinghamshire.

She is scheduled to tell delegates that the recent discovery of hundreds of planets around other stars has made the detection of extraterrestrial life more likely than ever before - and that means the UN must be ready to coordinate humanity’s response to any “first contact”.

During a talk Othman gave recently to fellow scientists, she said: “The continued search for extraterrestrial communication, by several entities, sustains the hope that some day humankind will receive signals from extraterrestrials.

"When we do, we should have in place a coordinated response that takes into account all the sensitivities related to the subject. The UN is a ready-made mechanism for such coordination.”

Professor Richard Crowther, an expert in space law and governance at the UK Space Agency and who leads British delegations to the UN on such matters, said: “Othman is absolutely the nearest thing we have to a ‘take me to your leader’ person.”

However, he thinks humanity’s first encounter with any intelligent aliens is more likely to be via radio or light signals from a distant planet than by beings arriving on Earth. And, he suggests, even if we do encounter aliens in the flesh, they are more likely to be microbes than anything intelligent.

Scary part of that last sentence is that next year, the United Nations might identify a specific petri dish and name it as Microbe Office for Interplanetary Communication. (MOIC)

Mealy Mouth 101

.... or maybe I should label this one --- "Why I don't watch much TV anymore."

This morning as I was sitting at the breakfast table, the CBS Sunday Morning show was on the TV. It's usually a pretty laid back program with pretty laid back moderators, from the late Charles Kuralt to the current easy going Charles Osgood.

Anyway, just as I am about to dip into my softly poached egg on corned beef hash......... some hippy looking Hollywoody face mean spirited filled the screen and started excoriating (one of them new words I've been dying to use) Ben Stein for having the temerity (another one!) to complain about Obamation wanting to raised taxes on the wealthy.

Apparently Ms Linda McGibney writes scripts for the SyFy Channel. This of course makes her an expert on all things - including federal budgets, fiscal realities, and gob'mint spending. Hell, if they can't figure it out on the SyFy Channel -- where can they?

In any event, the lite, Liberal Linda's comments included, among other things:

- "All I have to say is, Ben Stein is wrong.
I am an American. I am in the highest tax bracket. I also work in entertainment - which is what Mr. Stein does as well. I am fine with the tax increase. I think it patriotic that I am taxed in this way. I want to help my country. "
....

She ranted on and added:

"I have always understood that the "haves" were greedy. This is the first time I've heard one of them express it out loud so openly.

I am a "have." I am willing to pay this tax increase. I'm not going to whine about it. I won't feel punished. I will understand it's the cost of doing business. "

Unfortunately, nobody asked this spoiled Gen X'er why, if she felt this way, she wasn't already sending in extra money with her tax return. I have never seen a single line entry on my annual #1040 tax form that precludes me from adding a few thousand extra tax dollars to help the gob'mint "do business". Of course, I didn't know the government was in 'business' , but that just me.

I am too lazy to dig out the numbers and bore you here, but folks who study such things have found and published summaries which point out that the rich liberals in this country are the most tight fisted, non-charitable giving, tax dodging group in the nation. Setting up trust funds, hiding money...... anything to avoid paying taxes.....

I think I'll leave the TV off until the golf comes on this afternoon...... it's easier on my ole' blood pressure!

A Tale of Two Soldiers.....

.... a strange, but pointed coincidence brought two stories to the forefront of military news this quiet Sunday morning. The first relates the outstanding heart and courage of a double amputee who returned to battle and will one day be remembered in the 101st Airbornes Hall of Fame. The second unfortunately, tells the story of a former non-combat veteran double amputee whose sick mind and lack of conscience led him to steal the valor of those who served in Afghanistan.

The first, the story of Lieutenant Dan Luckett, an infantry platoon leader who lost his left leg and half of his right foot to an IED explosive in Baghdad on Mother's Day, 2008.

Evacuated, treated, furnished with prosthetics, he struggled to regain his physical condition. He eventually earned the Expert Infantryman's Badge, which included running 12 miles with a 35 pound backpack among other similar feats.

Lt Luckett was promoted to captain and achieved the goal he struggled for, was deployed to Afghanistan where he serves today! Click here for more on this American hero.

On the other, dark side of the coin, a young man came forward in Colorado and scammed the local press, the Mayor's Office, state lawmakers and even the local VFW commander. Claiming to have have lost his legs as a special forces vet during operation Enduring Freedom in Kandahar, Afghanistan, he misled them all.

His actual brief military tour was ten years before the US got involved in Afghanistan. His legs were lost in an civilian car wreck in Southern California wherein, he now claims, he was trying to commit suicide. Here is more to his story of Stolen Valor.

Two young Americans, one a true hero in America's finest military tradition...... the other a sick, sorry, and yes - even pathetic figure.

The 'haughty' Mr John Kerry-Heinz....

who lives off the largess of the late Republican Senator Heinz's estate by marrying his widow, stepped on his....err, um, uh, ...tongue again! As reported in the Boston Herald:

This is of course, the same John Kerry that pretended to stop for lunch at Wendy's with the pious and loosely zipped John Edwards for the photo op during the campaign, and then dined on a country club catered Lobster Salad in the campaign motor home as soon as they pulled out of town while campaigning to be the peoples president...

....On his way to a California college to tell students that if didn't study hard and stay in school, they'd end up in Iraq............ with the others that didn't , I guess.

I ain't even gonna mention his parking his new yacht in Rhode Island to avoid Massachusetts taxes.........cause that's old news... isn't it?

She, who the Senate Republican leadership decided to strip of her key committee positions to ensure that she couldn't use them as a wedge against the GOP candidate in November....

Yep - her!! Well now Partners, the RINO's in the Senate - led by that bulwark of conscience, Orrin Hatch of Utah, have rethought the process and decided to let her keep her seniority on the Senate Energy Committee, as a 'matter of good taste'.

I seem to recall a book back in the Fifties that was made into a movie with Peter Sellers, titled, 'The Mouse That Roared"

It was about some little pissant country that declared war on the United States just so they could lose and then live off the largess of the American people in post-war aid.

All the usual suspects, nuclear bombs, top secrets, all made for a fun and rollicking read.

Now one wonders if perhaps Pajammajiimmyjohn, of Iran, didn't obsess over this book and is now trying to bring it to life.

Dem's arrogance knows no bounds.....

Today, Wednesday- September 22, Dingy Harry Reid and his cronies have scheduled a debate on the Senate Floor .... the debate? The Disclose Act, a campaign reform bill that failed in July because the GOP saw it as 'pro-union' - anti-bid'ness political finance bill!

Two questions arise -- Why now, when they haven't even passed a budget bill? The answer of course --- politics as usual - the mid-terms are coming up!

Why have they put the vote on the debate off until tomorrow, Thursday - September 23? Why, hells bells, they are all leaving early today to go to New York City for a HIGH ROLLERS, FAT CATS only BIG BUCKS FUNDRAISER FOR THE DNC AND DNSC!!!

Then tomorrow, they'll be back, like the Cheshire cats, licking their lips after tonight's revelry and money grubbing ----- to vote on the DISCLOSE Act!!

What was that phrase voiced in the Congressional hearings back in the Fifties? Oh yeah--
'HAVE YOU NO SHAME, SENATOR?"

Jumpin' Jaysus!!! Jimmah Carter was the first 'Tea Partier' !!

At least that's what he opines in a recent interview published by AP. Pimping his latest book, 'White House Diary' (damn, that's got to be a must read for geek historians only) he allowed as how he was the first:

"I was a candidate that was in some ways like the tea party candidate," Carter said in an interview. "I was a complete outsider. I capitalized legitimately on the dissatisfaction that was permeating our society."

He said the tea party's momentum will likely wear off and they will be co-opted by the Republican Party.

Who knew? From Peanut Farmer to POTUS -- as a cult, not a leader (his words). By the way, Pilgrims, in the book, which won't even be a best seller in Plains Georgia, he still blames his disastrous landslide loss to RWR, the hostage crisis and the Kennedys. Anybody but himself and his own incompetence.

I look back with fond remembrance of his great years in the White House, 20% mortgage rates, stagflation, the national malaise...... yessir, it was everybody else's fault but Jimmah's!!

Obamanation's character assassination of John Boehner may backfire......

.... and blow up in his face! He has been bad mouthing, belittling and borderline psychotic in his attacks on the House Minority Leader. In one speech, he mentioned Boehner by name at least nine time in his elitist tirade.

The good news is that these histrionic hissy fits of BO seem to be having the opposite effect of that which he intended. Folks who never heard of John Boehner are now finding out that his is the perfect example of success in the American way. Born in near poverty, with 11 siblings, living in that house on the right, Boehner worked his way through college as a janitor, and then rose to success in private industry - before entering politics.

He is apparently, everything that Obamanation is not! The only things they seem to have in common are love of the game of golf, and a cigarette between holes. One is honest and forthright, the other == voted 'present' in all votes of import during his brief, greased, legislative career. And never had a real job in his life.

The shame of it is, America's main stream media doesn't seem too eager to share the facts. The London Telegraph does (why is it always a foreign newspaper that seems to get the American truth out?) a great job in their article Friday. From which I borrowed several lines and the two pictures for this post.

Ask yourself, why isn't this story on an American network, or even on an inside page of a major American newspaper?

Speaking of the Constitution.....

.... and I was speaking of it down below.... apparently a few other folks have noticed how it's been abused these last 20 months......

Did you wish it a Happy Birthday yesterday? September 17th is Constitution Day. It was signed by 39 true Americans on that day in 1787!

223 years it's lasted -- hope it makes it for two more despite Obamanations best efforts to shred it!!

God Save our Honorable Supreme Court....

Once upon a time, long long ago, about 1782, a gob'mint was established which was designed as a system of checks and balances. To wit:

- A legislature which wrote the rules, and had approval authority over the presidents appointments to high federal office.

- A president (CEO) who executed the rules as set forth by the legislature and administrated the country according to the rules.

- A supreme court which decided if the rules were IAW the constitution that was created.

All went well for many years, until the 20th Century, when the legislative branch started handing over the rule making power to the CEO, and weakened their own position. And the court abstained because nobody brought complaints to it.

Now, in the young 21st century, in September of 2010, we find:

- Twenty states suing the CEO over a confiscatory health care plan

- The CEO suing one of the states (AZ) over it's immigration laws (which mirror the CEO's own rules)

- One of the states (TX) suing the CEO over his EPA rules which were not legislated, simply enacted. (see link)

- And many more being filed weekly.

I expect the low profile position the Court has maintained over the last half century is about to be elevated.. And there ain't nobody gonna be arguing about Roe V Wade.. that's just a mouse, when we have elephants running around the federal house.

The law that established the new Consumer Financial Protection Bureau requires that the US Senate shall confirm the Director.

Oh my, such a bother, even though Obamanation's party controls the Senate, he doesn't feel good about running her through for such confirmation. He and she are SO above all that detail stuff.

So, he has just named Elizabeth Warren, an 'assistant to the POTUS' and 'special advisor to the Treasury Secretary', Timmie (the Tax Dodger) Geithner.

No need for that troublesome vetting procedure, or listening to those pesky old white haired Senators..... there you go!!!

You get the job, the authority, the perks, the bucks, the staff, the limo, the credit card, just not the title, darlin'!!

And so it goes in this administration that has admitted they find the US Constitution too full of 'constraints'..........

Understatement of the Month........ drum roll........

.... "The Los Angeles City Controller, Wendy Greuel said on Thursday the city's use of its share of the $800 billion federal stimulus fund has been disappointing."

Turns out that the City of the Liberal Angels received $111 million ($111,000,000) of our tax dollars -- under the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (aka - ARRA or Porkulus Bill) to create jobs.. The net result?? TA DA!!! 55 JOBS !!!

The LA Controller went on to add: “While it doesn’t appear that any of the ARRA funds were misspent, the City needs to do a better job expediting the process and creating jobs."

As my Granddaughter would say.................DUH!!!!!!!

For you folks who might not have had your morning coffee yet..... that works out to a cost of TWO MILLION TAXPAYER DOLLARS PER JOB!!

Great to see how careful all those Gob'mint hustlers are with OUR money!! Hell, I'll bet even ACORN had a better track record than this........ at least they tried to put pimps and whores to work............

The Bad News is that the 1st day polling shows Dim Dem Coons leading Christine O'Donnell by 11 points with six weeks to go.

The Good News is that Dingy Harry Reid has endorsed Dim Dem Coons and called him 'my favorite PET twice in the endorsement. That ought to erase those 11 points among the good citizens of Delaware in short order.

They might have had doubts about "Tokyo Rove"s favorite RINO candidate --- but I'll bet a double slug of top shelf whiskey - they ain't gonna be thrilled to vote for Harry Reid's favorite pet (anything).

It's hard to insult a drunken sailor, but it can be done......

No, I ain't talking about Superman........ I'm talking about how fast a catch phrase or a nick-name can catch on.

The other day on Sean Hannity's show, a caller. commenting on Karl Rove's instant, personal and over the top attack on Christine O'Donnell (winner of the Delaware Republican senate primary) was so incensed - he coined the phrase, "Tokyo Rove". This instantly identifiable name caught everybody's attention......... including your humble host!

What an arrow! - aimed right at the gizzard of a guy who has been feeding at the trough of the Republican Party for years..... has become one of the 'Ruling Class' and now has the temerity to attack a fellow Republican's success over one of his favorite pet RINO's.

And in doing so - is giving aid and comfort to the enemy!!! In this case of course, that would be the Dim Dems and their fellow traveling uber-liberals.

I've heard of YouTube video's going viral, meaning that they got thousands of hits within a few days --- Well Pardners, when you get a minute, Google 'Tokyo Rove' and then stand back as the 125,000 hits pile up!!!!

Even an old mule gets the idea when he is slapped up aside his head with a two by four.... why is it that these entrenched RINOs just don't seem to 'get it'?

The TV show, American Idol, gave birth to the nation-wide raucous call of "Pants on the Ground'! I'll link it for you folks who might have missed it, cause it only lasted for 7.5 minutes instead of fifteen.

But back to the courtroom, a Minnesota Court of Appeals heard the appealed case of a lad who was arrested - told to 'get 'em up' by the police officer, and when he did, his saggy pants fell around his ankles. Apparently when the officer went to pull the trousers up, she discovered a loaded 38 caliber pistol in the pocket... and a resultant five year stretch to think about illegally carrying a weapon ensued.....

The 'Day after the Primaries"......

...... and the lesson for the day, that the GOP hierarchy still doesn't get? PRAGMATISM - You are sooo yesterday!!

Once again across the country, but especially in neon lights in the teeny state of Delaware, the voters in the Republican primaries have shouted --- 'We want conservatives - We want conservatives!"

The Republican establishment, they of the newly identified 'Ruling Party', of course pooh poohed those hungry voters and said, "We know best. A liberal/moderate candidate is more electable in the general election, doncha' know."

Well Well. The votes are in, the ballots tallied, and the Tea Party's candidate, Christine O'Donnell kicked the establishment's favorite RINO right through the goal posts!!

America as a whole, may not be ready to return completely to our Constitutional roots, but Left, Right and Center, everybody knows that there is a fundamental fault in the direction the Country is taking. They may not want the ship turned around, but they want an adult in the wheelhouse and the course corrected by several degrees!

So this morning, we see the Karl Roves, (he that turned 'W', a great governor, into a 'compassionate conservative' and Dem party suck up) wringing his hands and whining on TV. We see the chair of the Republican Senate Election Committee and the Republican leader in the Senate -- all having panic attacks ... 'the sky is falling, the sky is falling'!!

People to pragmatists... "Hello, if there is anybody home, read the headlines and learn!"

I noted with little interest that Obamanation's gob'mint spent $835,000 of our stimulus money on a study by a UCLA research team to teach uncircumcised African men how to wash their genitals after having sex.

The genitalia-washing program is part of a larger $12-million UCLA study examining how to better encourage Africans to undergo voluntary HIV testing and counseling – however, only the penis-washing study received money from the 2009 economic stimulus law. The washing portion of the study is set to end in 2011.

This brings two questions to my old head.... first off: What the hell does the gob'mint think they are stimulating with this waste of our tax dollars? And secondly.....

How much more stimulating it would have been if they had used that same $835,000 and gone to an American manufacturer these hand operated, non-electric washers, purchased 21,000 of them at $40bucks each and installed one on every major street corner in Africa!!

CNSNews asked the lead investigator the following question: : “The Census Bureau says the median household income in the United States is $52,000. How would you explain to the average American mom and dad -- who make $52,000 per year -- that taxing themto pay for this grant was justified?”

Neither the neither the lead investigator or his assistant replied.

Note for you non-golfers, what you are seeing is a pole mounted golf 'ball washer', but I think with a little adapting, and taking the plunger out of the circular brush hole, it would serve the purpose needed for this project.....

Ole' Pecozbill had another one of them 'birthday' things today....

.....and when I woke up this morning and discovered I had made it through another year.... I also came to another conclusion about the thrill of aging into the 'golden' years......

I've discovered that the human skeleton is like a calendar, ..... every year, another hitherto unknown bone starts to ache -- and sure as hell, this morning when I woke up - #74 joined the chorus!

Which poses the other thought, why is it that in our youth, a long uninterrupted sleep caused us to wake up refreshed and rarin' to go --- but in our senior years, we go to bed reluctantly because we know we are going to wake up with aches and pains instead of refreshed.....?

The desperate CNN, bottom feeder of all the cable channels, being whipped even by PMSNBC, has really started grasping -- They are premiering a 'new show' (name later) at prime time, with two members of the 'Ruling Class' exchanging wit and witticisms, bits and bitticisms, for their the benefit of the half dozen viewers they enjoy at 8 PM.

Yessir, an admitted ex-governor whoremonger, NY Dem Eliot Spitzer, will sit knee to knee with her haughty supremeness, RINO blond, columnist Kathleen Parker in a whole new format.... duh.... two talking heads. Oh yes, the name of the show will be, cleverly enough, 'Parker - Spitzer', which one commenter so aptly pointed out sounds like the name of some porn show in itself.......

Oh My..... So, all you Dems, who hang on every word that Der Spitzermeister spits out, and you Republicans, that think that Parker's daily diatribe against Beck and Palin is a hoot, will love this show.............. stay tuned!!!!

Three disjointed thoughts on this September 11th

1. When I tuned into the LPGA Tourney in Arkansas today, I thought it was a very nice touch that they had replaced the pin flags on all the holes with small American Flags!! Good on 'em! (I'll bet the caddies got serious instructions about not laying those pins down on the green!)

2. For the second year in a row, I note that the POTUS constrained his 9-11 appearance to the controlled military crowd at the Pentagon. No chance of hearing the disparate sounds that he might hear up at Ground Zero in New York from those Bible totin', unwashed citizens....

3. Unrelated to 9-11, but as a big fan of Fox's Newswatch program, I was sorely disappointed that they have added Alan (the mouth) Combs to the panel. I respect his opinions and am sure he's a fine feller, but he was raised in the shout and talk over days and leaves his manners with out in the hall closet.

If I want to see folks talk over each other and screech at each other, I'll watch Eleanor Cliff on the McLaughlin panel on PBS or Chris (the motor mouth) Matthews on CNN or Bill (It's all about me) O'Reilly on Fox.

Newswatch has always been a pleasure to watch, get views from both sides and think media coverage thru..... alas .... no mas!!

There's something about Barry,.....

Yesterday, Obamanation had his first live press conference in more than six months...... I'm not talking about the 210 times he stood in front of the cameras while the TOTUS talked to us.

Yesterday, he was being asked questions and had no prepared TOTUS talk for us.... Coincidentally, I happened to be sitting in the waiting room of a large military medical center during his press conference. The large screen flat TV on the wall was broadcasting the conference but the sound was so low it was inaudible.

Normally, when this happens, either one of the many folks present turn up the sound or ask for it to be turned up. In this waiting room. folks read, chatted with one another, or people watched like I did. The occasional glance at the screen and then away -- with little interest in him or what he was saying.

The only reason I mention this is because everybody in that room was either active duty military, retired military, or a military dependent. A group that as a whole, is very politically astute and current. The total lack of interest in whatever spin he happened to be sharing at that moment, or whether once again he was blaming 'W' for everything was almost surreal.

What's that old saying.... "If his lips are moving, I know he's lying, so why bother to listen?" came to mind.. Strange turn of events we are seeing.

That poster I have posted to the right is the new 'in' tee shirt design for the youngsters of the country -- the very ones who were drawn into his hope and change web such a short time ago. It would appear that the kittens and puppies eyes have begun to open in the last 18 months.

Just sayin'.............

3D Speed Bump illusions..... Clever or dumber'n dirt??

That little gal on the right that appears to be chasing a ball into the middle of the street is a new kind of speed bump created in Canada.

Shocking new 3D speed bump illusion of girl crossing the road that suddenly 'appears' in front of drivers

It sounds like a terrifying experience that would make even the most seasoned of drivers panic or even crash.

But a school in Canada is using a bizarre 3D optical illusion of a young girl crossing the road to try and make drivers slow down.

The image of a girl chasing after a ball is painted on the road and elongated to make it appear three-dimensional when seen from an approaching car.

Critics say that the child’s image could surprise drivers so much that they will slam on the brakes or even swerve off the road if they do not realise the girl is just an illusion.

At a distance it just looks like a marking on the road but when the car is 30 metres away it appears to suddenly rise up from the road.

When the driver is closer than 30 metres the image appears to sink back into the road.

If a car is traveling at the speed limit for the road, 30km/h, then he should be able to stop in time before he reaches the image.

Safety experts say the alarming image is designed to teach drivers to always be prepared for the unexpected.

The illusion is to be placed on the road outside École Pauline Johnson Elementary School in West Vancouver in Canada and will be accompanied by a sign which reads: ‘You’re probably not expecting kids to run into the road.’

Council bosses in the area say that the illusion will encourage drivers to drive defensively, as though a child could run out into the road at any moment.

So, what do you think folks? A clever ploy to get drivers to slow down or one of the dumbest, accident causing ideas to come along since the LED roadside advertising signs? Be interesting to see the law suits after the first three car pile up!!

On Immigration: "It's the Economy, Stupid"

Less than 24 hours. That’s the amount of time it took the Obama Administration to take credit for a decrease in illegal immigration to the United States after the Pew Hispanic Center published a new study. The study found that between March 2007 and March 2009 illegal immigration to the United States declined by about 67%. The study also estimates that the total illegal immigrant population in the United States has declined from a high of about 12 million people in 2009 to about 11.1 million people in 2010. In Florida, the total illegal immigrant population is estimated to have declined from over one million to about 675,000 during this same two-year period.

The authors of the study did not credit any of President Obama’s policies for the decrease but that has not stopped the wily coyotes in the Administration from trying to spin the story in their favor. “This administration’s unprecedented commitment of manpower, technology and infrastructure to the Southwest border has been a major factor in this dramatic drop in illegal crossings,” a spokesman for the Obama Administration said. As careful readers may have noticed, however, the Pew analysis covered the period from March 2007 to March 2009. President Obama was sworn into office on January 20, 2009 and did nothing in the first two months he was in office to fight illegal immigration. But that hasn’t stopped him from trying to take credit for the decrease. The real reason behind the change is rather simple. As former President Bill Clinton’s adviser, James Carville, liked to say, “it’s the economy, stupid.”

The main factor in stemming the flow of illegal immigration to the United States is the recession. Hundreds of thousands of illegal immigrants have left Florida because there are no jobs. There are still 11.1 million illegal immigrants in the United States and 13 million unemployed Americans. So yes, suffocating the economy with failed economic policies will succeed in driving more illegal immigrants out of America but if that’s the President’s only real plan for illegal immigration, it’s a rather abysmal one.

The midterm elections are now only a few months away and President Obama is afraid his party is going to suffer a major defeat, so perhaps it is unsurprising that the President is trying to have it both ways. Instead of engaging in double speak, the President and Democrats in Congress should work with me and my Republican colleagues to increase border security, expand employment verification programs like E-Verify, and enable state governments like Arizona to assist the federal government in enforcing our laws. Now is the time to enhance border security and interior enforcement measures so that when the economy does begin to recover, illegal immigrants do not take the new jobs that out-of-work Americans deserve.
