Happy (????) Memorial Day!

Just when I think that the folks nowadays are not really as stupid as everybody credits them, they go and prove it time and again. 53% of the American Voters did it on election day, 2008, big time.

This week I have seen a hundred micro examples of stupidity at similar levels.... These being those who smile gaily and say "Have a Happy Memorial Day"! Or the cards that stare at me from the shelves in the Hallmark stores, shouting 'Happy Memorial Day' at me from their $3.95 cent pieces of paper printed with some drop out poet's words inside. I won't even mention mattress sales, they gotta make a living too, I reckon.

They are either absolutely clueless as to the meaning of this special day -- or sociopathically uncaring. Originally designated 'Decoration Day' and established for May 30, 1868, the day was dedicated to decorating the graves of the thousands of veterans that died in the Civil War with flags and flowers.

It later was renamed Memorial Day and dedicated to all the veterans who died in all the wars in which America has battled. Now of course, when decorating grave sites in National Cemeteries, no distinction is made between those who died in war, and those who served in uniform in any capacity, peacetime or wartime, but died of natural causes after their service.

Am I saying people of good thoughts shouldn't have a BBQ, pop a cap on a long neck, get together with family and friends.......... of course not! And any one of the millions buried in those cemeteries would agree with me! But please do remember the purpose of the day!!
That poignant picture of the young lady up there on the left, does not appear to be having a 'Happy' Memorial Day....... Click on the picture to get a closer look! (then hit the return arrow- of course)

And pause for a minute to thank those who made your BBQ in English - possible! Not to mention your freedoms and privileges.............

The History of the Red Poppy on Memorial Day

IN FLANDERS FIELDS

In Flanders fields the poppies blow
Between the crosses, row on row,
That mark our place; and in the sky
The larks, still bravely singing, fly
Scarce heard amid the guns below.

We are the Dead. Short days ago
We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow,
Loved, and were loved, and now we lie
In Flanders fields.

Take up our quarrel with the foe;
To you from failing hands we throw
The torch; be yours to hold it high.
If ye break faith with us who die
We shall not sleep, though poppies grow
In Flanders fields.

by John McRae

In 1915, inspired by the poem "In Flanders Fields," Moina Michael replied with her own poem:

We cherish too, the Poppy red
That grows on fields where valor led,
It seems to signal to the skies
That blood of heroes never dies.

She then conceived of an idea to wear red poppies on Memorial day in honor of those who died serving the nation during war. She was the first to wear one, and sold poppies to her friends and co-workers with the money going to benefit servicemen in need.

Later a Madam Guerin from France was visiting the United States and learned of this new custom started by Ms. Michael and when she returned to France, made artificial red poppies to raise money for war orphaned children and widowed women. This tradition spread to other countries.

In 1921, the Franco-American Children's League sold poppies nationally to benefit war orphans of France and Belgium. The League disbanded a year later and Madam Guerin approached the VFW for help. Shortly before Memorial Day in 1922 the VFW became the first veterans' organization to nationally sell poppies. Two years later their "Buddy" Poppy program was selling artificial poppies made by disabled veterans. In 1948 the US Post Office honored Ms. Michael for her role in founding the National Poppy movement by issuing a red 3-cent postage stamp with her likeness on it.

Ann Coulter is finally coming back to her strength and on target!!

Modern Civil Rights: Cockfighting and Same-Sex Proms
Ann CoulterWednesday, May 26, 2010

Watching TV this week, at first I thought Republican Senate nominee Rand Paul had flown a commercial jet into the World Trade Center. But then it turned out that he had only said there ought to be discussion about whether federal civil rights laws should be applied to private businesses.

This allowed the mainstream media to accuse Paul of being a racist. Twisting a conservative's words in order to accuse him of racism was evidently more urgent news than the fact that the attorney general of the United States admitted last week -- under oath in a congressional hearing -- that he had not read the 10-page Arizona law on illegal immigration, the very law he was noisily threatening to overturn.
And really, how could the U.S. attorney general have time to read a 10-page law when he's busy doing all the Sunday morning TV shows condemning it?

Eric Holder's astonishing admission was completely ignored by ABC, CBS, NBC, NPR, The New York Times, The Washington Post, USA Today, Los Angeles Times, The Associated Press, Time or Newsweek, according to Brent Bozell of the Media Research Center.
I just want to say: I think it's fantastic that the Democrats have finally come out against race discrimination. Any day now, maybe they'll come out for fighting the Cold War. Perhaps 100 years from now, they'll be ready to fight the war on terrorism or champion the rights of the unborn.

It would be a big help, though, if Democrats could support good causes when it mattered.
But as long as the media are so fascinated with the question of why anyone would want to "discuss" certain aspects of the 1964 Civil Rights Act, maybe they should ask Al Gore why his father was one of the leading opponents of the bill.

Or they could ask Bill Clinton, whose mentor, Sen. William Fulbright, actively supported segregation and also voted against the bill. Or they could talk to the only current member of the Senate to vote against it, Democrat Bob Byrd.

As with the 1957 and 1960 civil rights acts, it was Republicans who passed the 1964 Civil Rights Act by huge majorities. A distinctly smaller majority of Democrats voted for it.
In the Senate, for example, 82 percent of Republicans voted for the act, compared with only 66 percent of Democrats. In the House, 80 percent of Republicans supported the law, compared with only 63 percent of Democrats.

With even all Democrats coming aboard on opposition to race discrimination (and it only took them 45 years!) I think we can stipulate that everyone in America is opposed to discrimination against blacks.

Now let's talk about the "civil rights" lawsuits that are actually brought in modern America. Today's "civil rights" lawsuits have nothing to do with black Americans. Worse, blacks are used as props to benefit the Democrats' favored constituencies: feminists and trial lawyers.

Democratic political consultant Bob Shrum pioneered the technique, running ads against Republican Ellen Sauerbrey in the 1998 Maryland gubernatorial race, accusing her of having "a civil rights record to be ashamed of." To really drive the point home, Shrum's ads showed sad-looking black people in front of a mural of Africa.

Of course, if I were forced to appear in political ads for Bob Shrum, I'd be sad, too.
But the only "civil rights" bill that Sauerbrey opposed had nothing to do with blacks. It was a sexual harassment bill that was so silly that Democrats in the Maryland legislature helped kill it.

Similarly, the vast bulk of "civil rights" lawsuits today have nothing to do with race. Although plaintiffs will jam every possible allegation of discrimination in their complaints, in 2009, according to the website of the Equal Opportunity Employment Commission, 65 percent of all civil rights claims brought had absolutely nothing to do with race discrimination.

These days, a typical federal "civil rights" case is the one brought this year by the Game Fowl Breeders Association in New Mexico claiming their "civil rights" have been violated by a state law banning cockfighting.

Another modern "civil rights" lawsuit charged that a McDonald's restaurant violated the Americans With Disabilities Act by hanging a bathroom mirror two inches too high for people in wheelchairs. The error was made when employees replaced the original mirror, which had been destroyed by vandals, with a shorter one.

The restaurant owner, Ron Piazza, corrected the problem as soon as it was brought to his attention, but he got sued anyway. Curiously, the plaintiffs had retained their McDonalds' receipts, allowing them to claim damages for 27 separate visits to the restaurant.
And of course there are all the lesbians shutting down high school proms across the country because they can't take their girlfriends to the dance as the Founding Fathers intended.

This year's graduating class at Itawamba Agricultural High School in rural Mississippi will never have a school senior prom because the ACLU brought a lawsuit on behalf of Constance McMillen demanding that she be allowed to bring her girlfriend and wear a tuxedo.

With cockfighting bans and heterosexual proms, Martin Luther King's work remains unfinished!

Half a century ago, Democrats beat up the Freedom Riders. Today the Democrats insult the Freedom Riders by comparing them to irritating lesbians, lawsuit-happy disabled persons and cockfighters.

The question is not whether the federal government should be telling private businesses they can't engage in race discrimination. The question is whether federal civil rights laws should prevent any discrimination other than race discrimination.

It's a vertible 'fiesta' of Arizona bashing!!!

My old Dad used to say, "You get what you pay for!"

Which kind of answers the question 'What do unions want in their elected congressional representatives?"

Time was, when union activity in an election was pretty much limited to working phone banks, block walking, and other one on one activities, not money. No more!!

In addition, the unions we primarily heard about were the UAW (Union Auto Workers) and AFL-CIO. No more!!

In this off year election, the primary players are the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees (AFSCME) and the Service Employees International Union (SEIU). Their stated goal, saving the seats of incumbent 'friends' who have voted their way the last two years and are now in trouble with the electorate for spending those trillions of tax payer dollars and supported the Obamacare fiasco!

AFSCME (remember, these are gob'mint employees all) has bragged of planning to spend in excess of $50,000,000 for this purpose. The SEIU plans on spending more than $44,000,000 as well. Recipients of this largesse? High on the list are Senators Reid (NV), Boxer (CA).

I'll link you to 'the rest of the story' in "Thehill.com" so you can read for yourself.

http://thehill.com/homenews/campaign/99103-unions-100m-to-save-the-dems

I hope you note the headline 'save the Dem majorities'! Who says we ain't got the best politicians money can buy!!! Looks like us ordinary citizens are gonna have to look after our own interests...... cause the gob'mint employees are only worried about theirs - not ours!

The day of the 'Brown Shirts & Socialist Democratic Workers Party' draws ever nearer!

I recall reading of Hitler's Germany in the 1930's, when the gob'mints 'Brown Shirted' police force would protect the socialist demonstrators as they broke into Jew's stores, businesses and homes. Not only allowing it to happen, but encouraging it and standing by to protect them as they did it.

Couldn't happen here in the good ol' USA, right? Wrong!

When those SEIU bullies and thugs terrorized that teenaged kid in the house in Montgomery County Md, this week, tromping on private property, breaking Montgomery County protest laws, they were escorted by, protected by, and observed by the D.C. Metropolitan Police! Who, by the way, have no jurisdiction in Montgomery Country, and who didn't even bother to contact the Montgomery County Police Department to let them know they were bringing protesters onto their turf!!

If this makes you mad enough, or scared enough, to want to read more, follow this link.... and as you do -- remember your history books!!!

http://bigjournalism.com/acary/2010/05/21/d-c-metro-police-escorted-seiu-protesters-to-greg-baers-home/

Kinda makes you want to tap an e-mail or two out on that keyboard in front of you, doesn't it? Back in the 30's, none of the neighbors protested.... and we know what happened. Don't let us let it happen again!!! No stamps required!

By God, I think she's got it!!!!

Our Gob'mint at work!!!

Even in Texas, apparently we have gob'mint workers with too much time on their hands. John Kelso shares the story in in column in the Statesman:

If a hunter's gotta go, what's wrong with the woods?
John Kelso, Commentary

If it's permissible for bears to do what bears do in the woods, why not Texas hunters?
This question popped up March 9 when the Waco regional office of the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality got a complaint on hunters pooping in the woods in rural Limestone County, east of Waco.

"The complainant alleged that David Cousins had been leasing out a hunting cabin and allowing the hunters to deficate (sic) in the woods," the TCEQ complaint report says.
Part of the problem, said Anna Dunbar, regional director of TCEQ's Waco office, is that the hunting cabin had an outhouse. "It was just an old-fashioned hole in the ground with a little seat over it," she said. She explained that outhouses of this sort are "strictly prohibited."

Outhouses are illegal in Texas? What's this state coming to?

This brings up a serious philosophical question. Should hunters have plumbing, and if they do, should they be forced to use it? Doesn't the Second Amendment address hunters going in the woods? If it doesn't, it should. Many hunters go hunting not so much for the deer as to get away from the "Yes, dear." Hey, there is such a thing as quality of life.

The complaint was referred to Limestone County Judge Daniel Burkeen, who wrote a response to Tim Blackmon, water and waste section work leader for the TCEQ's Waco regional office.
"Dear Tim," Judge Burkeen's letter begins. "We have had some delay in our investigation of the incidents alleged in the complaint which you kindly forwarded to us. The problem is, we have recently had a rash of reports of cows, horses, sheep and goats defecating at will in pastures throughout the county. On top of this, we suspect that wild hogs, deer, and all sorts of other animals are defecating without even trying to find a proper facility. In addition, I have personal proof on my windshield of a mischievous bird defecating in flight."

You can imagine all the working hours Limestone County would burn up, and the excessive expense, if the county had to assign workers to go into the woods to gather samples and have them mailed off to be analyzed to determine who or what is the responsible party.
Or as Burkeen writes in his letter to TCEQ's Waco office, "Should we send these to you, or directly to Austin?"

"It's just one of those things that struck me: Don't these people have better things to do?" said Burkeen, who doesn't hunt. "It's one of those things that's just not really a big problem. We've got bigger problems to deal with."
In his letter, Burkeen urges the TCEQ to handle the matter locally.

"When it comes to matters of excessive defecation, Washington bureaucrats would only add to our misery," he writes.

Los Angeles Party Pissant Meets Arizona Godzilla!

As I am sure you are all aware, the mayor of Los Angeles convinced his cronies on the city council to 'boycott' the State of Arizona to bring it to it's knees because of AZ SB -10-70 (Support our Law Enforcement and Safe Neighborhoods Act)

As often happens (but not often enough) this cowardly little grasp at MSM attention has blown up in his face...... little did he realize that he was kicking open a nest full of heretofore quiet Desert Rattlesnakes with his little dog and pony show.

In an open letter to this local hack, the Arizona Commissioner has issued a counter demand that will sound as cold as the cocking of the hammer on a Colt 45 to the sweaty citizens of Los Angeles. Rather than copying the letter here and losing something in the translation, I am linking y'all straight to a pdf copy of it!

Ain't you glad your not the mayor of a city of millions, with a long hot summer coming, that got this letter in your mail today?

I developed even more respect for Governor Brewer of Arizona after her talk on Monday attacking Obamanation and his weak, uncalled for jokes about Arizona. Now it appears, that she ain't the only professional, state wide elected official with a 'set' in the good state of Arizona!

By the way, after you read the letter the first time -- read it again slower, and picture looking into Clint Eastwood's eyes as he reads it to you again, slower ---- ooooops!

Gotta wonder what rolling brown-outs and doubled electric bills in LA this summer would do to Villaraigosa's re-election bid?

The Law of Unintended Consequences -- Rears it's head in Texas

A few years ago, medical doctors - primary care and OB/GYN doctors in particular, were quitting their practice or leaving Texas in droves. The reason? The sky rocketing cost of malpractice insurance brought about by egregious jury awards in lawsuits across the state.

Texas solved the problem by passing a serious tort reform bill which limited jury awards to actual damages and costs, with a cap on maximum of penalties for 'pain & suffering'.

Soon, the U-Haul trailers started flooding back to Texas with doctor's office equipment aboard. The number of new licensees in the state grew rapidly. Quality health care became available in the furthest corners of this great State!

But alas, then came Medicare payment cuts imposed by Congress in an effort to cut expenditures back in 1997. These cuts, thought to be modest, have grown substantially.

"Congress would overturn the cuts, but their short-term fixes didn't keep up with inflation. The Texas Medical Association says the cumulative effect since 2001 already amounts to an inflation-adjusted cut of 20.9 percent. In 2001, doctors receiving a $1,000 Medicare payment made roughly $410, after taking out operating expenses. In 2010, they'll net $290. If the scheduled 21.2 percent cut goes through, they'd net $72, effectively an 83 percent cut since 2001."

So, what is the result? With these cuts already in place and predicted greater cuts to Medicare to find money for the Obamacare fiasco -- Texas doctors are dropping Medicare patients like they were radio-active! Not by the tens, not by the fifties, but by the hundreds of doctors. Those that haven't 'opted' out of Medicare practice, are no longer accepting new Medicare patients. This goes for specialists as well as General Practitioners.

The question then becomes, "Is there an answer?" and the answer is Yes. But if the question is rephrased, "Is there an EASY answer?". the answer is No!

If you are a seasoned citizen, or retired military, you might want to ask your GP on your next visit, no matter what state you live in..... for his/her outlook. It's not too early to worry!

I know Chip Reid is with CBS, but you ain't gonna believe this report...

The man who was literally crowned "POTUS" by the MSM, is now so arrogantly confident, that he won't even acknowledge them, much less answer a question. It kind of brings up the question, "When will the MSM lap dogs quit performing the 'Monica' on him and start biting him in the butt?"

Press Freedom, Sure. But No Questions.
Posted by
Chip Reid

May 17, 2010

There was some rich irony at the White House today -- President Obama signed the Press Freedom Act, and then promptly refused to take any questions.

The new law expands the State Department's annual human rights reports to include a description of press freedoms in each country. It seemed a good opportunity to showcase press freedom in this country.

Recall that last Friday the president refused to take any questions after delivering his angry statement on the oil spill in the Rose Garden. And he has not held a prime-time White House news conference in many months, despite much pleading from pundits and members of the media.

So after he signed the bill, and as the press "wranglers" began aggressively herding us out of the room, I asked if he still has confidence in BP. He ignored the question so I tried this: "In the interest of press freedom, would you take a couple questions on BP?"

That did elicit a smile, and he told me I was free to ask questions. Someone else shouted, "Will you answer them?"

He said he's not holding a press conference today as we were escorted out the door.

Chip Reid is CBS News' chief White House correspondent. You can read more of his posts in Hotsheet here.

Sooner or later, Pilgrims, they will turn on him! Wait 'til the Dog Days of summer and they smell blood in the water......and the November elections! A whore is a whore, and these MSM prostitutes follow the money!!!

I love this picture of a Marine's private vehicle entering the base!

(Thanx and a tip O' the Stetson to Al of Maryland) Clik on pic if you need to!

Look out folks, Chavez just played a trump card on Obamanation's GM Deal!

In their private game of who is the biggest Socialist, Chavez has just thrown out a trump card on Obama..... first Chavez nationalized Oil and Electric companies. "O" raised six banks, AIG, and General Motors ,

Chavez then led by taking over a steel company and a coffee outfit, 'O' came back with Chrysler....

Now Chavez is leading with a gob'mint takeover of Venezuela's iron -makers... What will Obamanation come back with.... AT&T? Union and Pacific Railroads? As reported by AP yesterday.

The Associated Press May 15, 2010
"Venezuela's Chavez orders takeover of iron-makers"

CARACAS, Venezuela
"President Hugo Chavez announced Saturday the expropriation of a group of iron, aluminum and transportation companies in Venezuela's mining region.
Among the expropriated companies is Materiales Siderurgicos, or Matesi, which is the Venezuelan subsidiary of Luxembourg-based steel maker Tenaris SA.

Venezuela's socialist president said in a televised that his government was going to take over Matesi because "we couldn't reach an amicable and reasonable settlement with the owners."
Chavez said production at the company has been paralyzed since midway through last year, when Venezuela's president announced plans to nationalize it.

Chavez said he was also going to expropriate Venezuelan-owned Orinoco Iron and aluminum-maker Norpro de Venezuela C.A., which is an affiliate of the U.S. company Norpro in association with France's Saint Gobain, among other companies.

As well, Venezuela will take over transport companies that ship raw materials in areas southeast of Caracas. He did not name the companies."

I hope Bill Gates and Steve Jobs have their taxes paid and their parachutes ready! What's in your stock portfolio, Mate?

Armed Forces Day - May 15, 2010

If you are serving in uniform or have served in uniform.......we thank you!

When you meet someone who is serving or has served in the uniform of the United States Military -- make everyday an 'Armed Forces Day' and offer a friendly salute and take a minute to say thanks..............

Both you and the Veteran will feel the better for it!!!!

Everything but spilled milk...........

Meet the man who will decide on your health care -- or lack of it!!

Obamanation has nominated Dr Donald Berwick as head of the Centers for Medicaid and Medicare Services.

Apparently Berwick is a big time fan of Britain's National Health Service -- especially it's 'National Institute for Clinical Excellence" or NICE! Isn't that a 'nice name? It seems that NICE is the unelected body (panel) that decides what health treatments are available in Britain AND WHO IS WORTH RECEIVING THEM!!!

Berwick said, "The more I have studied it, the more I believe that less discretion for doctors would improve patient safety."
He'd prefer that practicing physicians just get out of the way and leave the important decisions to the academics and the bureaucrats such as the NICE ones Britain has. NICE is ObamaCare's model and is what gave rise to the phrase "death panels," for it literally decides matters of life and death. It's coming soon to a doctor's office or hospital near you.

Berwick says: "NICE is an extremely effective and a conscientious, valuable and — importantly — knowledge-building system." That must explain why breast cancer in America has a 25% mortality rate and in Britain it's almost double at 46%. Prostate cancer is fatal to 19% of American men who get it; in Britain it kills 57% of those it strikes.

Isn't that NICE? And they pilloried Sarah Palin for pointing out Death Panels in our Obamacare Bill....... For the whole story, click on the link, take two aspirins and don't bother to call anyone!!

Viva La Boycotts!!!

What with all the talk of boycotting Arizona over SB 1070, it might do well to examine the success of such ventures in other venues.

This uplifting story came via e-mail. The author’s name is unknown so the veracity and timing of the piece is difficult to measure.

Nevertheless, the story sounds plausible: “Victoria, Texas is a town about 80 miles west of Houston. Local Hispanic leaders there, in opposition to pending Immigration Legislation, boycotted all Caucasian -owned businesses in the Victoria area last month as a demonstration of their economic impact on the community.

“The boycott was declared a success by the Hispanic community, noting that revenue in Caucasian owned businesses was down by 19%.

“Business owners declared the boycott a success as well, pointing out that shoplifting was reduced by 77%, money orders sent out of the country were down by 97%, and the cost of daily clean-up and trash collection was down by 84%.

“Shoppers reported that they could actually hear English being spoken throughout the community for the first time in recent memory, and customers actually paid for purchases with real money, not government debit cards or food stamps!”

May the idiot-sponsored boycotts of Arizona be as profitable for the good people of that state as were the boycotts for Americans in Victoria, Texas!

(Thanks & a Tip O' the Stetson to a hundred publishers of this sweet and humorous item!"

Reminds me of the World War II Posters -- is this WW III?

(Thanx and a Tip 'O the Stetson to Paul up in Rhode Island!)

The 'Two Faces" of Eric Holder....

We all heard Attorney General Eric Holder testify before Congress that he 'had not read" the new Arizona law on illegal aliens. We all knew that this was horse manure and only said to prevent having to answer any questions about it -- the Congressman asking the questions knew what he was doing - but didn't push it!

What a menagerie of legalspeaking phonies we have inside that Washington Beltway nowadays.... a pox on both their houses!!!

This video is only one minute long -- and speaks volumes!!!!!

http://townhall.com/blog/g/08af71c7-ef5a-4b73-99dc-153f11732695

He opines on the effect of the bill one day and denies, under oath, having ever read it, the very next day!!!

Chalk up another PC 'Insanity Plea", but on the school, not the student!

Autistic Boy Charged With Making Terrorist Threats Over Stick-Figure Sketch

SANDY SPRINGS, Ga. - A fourteen-year-old autistic boy is facing terrorist charges after a sketch he made in school.

The sketch shows two stick-figures. One of them is labeled ‘Me’ and is shown shooting a gun at another with a teacher’s name above it.

Karen Finn says that her son, 8th grader Shane Finn, doesn’t understand why he is in trouble. She says the boy is autistic and has the mental capacity of a 3rd grader.

Officials at Ridgeview Charter School say the student will face a tribunal and is being charged with making terrorist threats.

The boy will face a 'tribunal'?? Lordy Lordy, where is this country headed? We can't even send rag headed terrorist bombers to 'tribunals' but we can send a 14 year old autistic kid before one for drawing a stick figure?

Amnesty Anyone?

There have been a million words written about the pros and cons of granting Amnesty to illegal aliens in this country. Some are well thought out words, others are pure political hyperbole! For anybody who cares, here is my take on the topic and I'll even offer a solution.

First of all, let's make sure we agree on what we mean by amnesty:

Amnesty legal definition

A pardon for past criminal offenses for a class or group of individuals who are subject to trial but have not yet been convicted. Amnesty may be limited or conditional. For example, amnesty may be offered only to those who perform a certain act, such as community service, within a specific period of time. Also referred to as grant of amnesty.

('Webster\'s New World Law Dictionary Copyright © 2010)

Now then, in my retired military mind, there is no guarantee of what will happen in an act of amnesty -- only what won't happen. No Trial or punishment for the illegal act.

Thus, if amnesty were granted to those illegal aliens in this country (under certain conditions), that act of amnesty does not promise or guarantee any follow up privileges - like permanent resident status, or eventual citizenship. Again, all it promises is no arrest, trial and punishment if apprehended.

What do I propose? Glad you asked.....

First and foremost, since guarding our borders and immigration are Federal responsibilities, I would leave it in their hands:

1. Declare a 180 day period of 'Amnesty' for any illegal alien in this country to go to the nearest US Post Office or Federal Courthouse and register, giving full name, age, residence, place of employment, and list the name and age and location of any underage dependents. After the Federal Government had thirty days to investigate for any criminal or illegal activity, each registrant would be issued a hologram protected, photo ID granting two, four or six year visitor status. Such temporary status would be renewed absent any criminal or other unseemly behavior during the period of the temporary status.

First sixty day registrants get six years, second sixty day registrants get four years, and third sixty day registrants get two years. This would encourage early registration as well as stagger the eventual re-registration loads.

2. In addition to providing the above information, each registrant would be required to sign a statement acknowledging that Temporary Visitor status does NOT include, Social Security rights, medical care or other benefits available to permanent residents and citizens. Each registrant would be assigned a Tax ID Number for paying federal taxes, not a SSAN.

Further, they would acknowledge that this status does not put them on any 'fast track' to obtain citizenship, they must return to their homeland or apply through their Nation's embassy or consulate here in the US for permanent immigration status in the same line as all others seeking such status.

3. Effective on Day 181, any illegal immigrant without such a temporary visitor identification card, would be summarily jailed and deported forthwith..... no hearings required.

4. On Day #1 of this program, our Borders would be shut down, sealed, completely, with all armed force necessary - to ensure no further illegal aliens enter the country.

5. Also from Day #1 of this program, every single Federal law currently on the books regarding employer hiring of illegals would be enforced to the letter!!

How much would all this cost? It would be damned expensive! But not nearly as much as the current cost of supporting all these illegals each year. Politicians hide behind numbers like six million or maybe even ten million illegals in the country. The experts with no reason to hide behind federal incompetence settle more on the Twenty to Twenty-two Million number..

Ye gads! That's 7% of the population of the US, or one out of every 13 folks strolling down main street! We are either a Nation (with a capital N) or we ain't Pilgrims..... we can't have it both ways!!

What do you think?

A timeless cartoon, or a lesson from the past...

This Cartoon (8 minutes long) was produced and released in 1948. Sixty-two years ago this year... and it is more timely now than ever!!

I apologise to those of you on Dial Up service.... but for those of you on DSL, please share it after you have enjoyed it!

That snake oil saleman is baaaaaaack!!!!

And now, My Friends, for 'The rest of the story...."

And now, my friends, --- for the "Rest of the story"!!

Just days after Iranian clerics attacked “immodest dress” by women and threatened suntanned women with arrest, Iran won a seat on a United Nations women’s rights commission. The American delegation could easily have thwarted the move by raising an objection. But U.N. Ambassador Susan Rice was not on hand for the vote. In fact, she wasn’t even at the U.N.

[.....[

According to Richard Grenell (former spokesman for four UN Ambassadors, Rice’s failure to act is not surprising. “For Rice, this silence is becoming a pattern,” he wrote. “Rice has been routinely unavailable to reporters, absent from daily U.N. meetings, and all too often silent when the American people needed a strong voice to speak out on an important issue.

From Iran to Zimbabwe to Sudan to Cuba, Rice consistently stays silent. “It’s no wonder other countries at the U.N. think the Obama administration is so easy to work with. And it also explains why we haven’t had one single Security Council resolution on Iran since Rice arrived.”

Where is the press on this one?

I see a vision on the horizon..............

Thought of the week...........

I had an old military friend from Rhode Island, pose this thought today:

"I just heard Pelosi stating that you can't arrest everybody that came here illegally and tell them either go back where they came from or go to jail. I agree, we aren't going to throw 10-20 million people in jail .

What bothers me is that she just pushed through a law that states if you don't buy health insurance, you could be put in jail for up to one year. If we can't jail or deport illegal aliens, how can we do it to our own citizens?"

Thanks, and a Tip O' the Stetson to Paulie, of Rhode Island.

Arizona Governor to Obamanation..... 'You are worse than clueless'!!

Governor Jan Brewer of Arizona, obviously less than thrilled with Obamanations slurs, sleights, bad jokes and general un-presidential behavior toward her state -- decided to fight back.

If you look up succinct, on point, direct, and in your face in your Funk & Wagnall, it will probably refer you to this video tape!!!!

Current White House Priorities seem a little confused.....

About that 'White Male' of interest...

I recall that the day after the Car Bomb Fizzle in Times Square that the TV networks showed a video clip of a WHITE MALE changing his shirt near the parked SUV..... and said he was a person of interest..... (emphasis mine)

They must have shown this video clip with that same WHITE MALE accusation voice over at least twenty time while I was watching - and I don't watch much TV. Since this Shazhamm (sic) feller has been arrested..... the MSM seems to have lost all interest in the WHITE MALE feller.

You don't reckon they are disappointed that it was an Arab that did the dirty do you? 'Cause if you think that - it would follow that they indeed hoped it would be a WHITE MALE so they could reinforce all of their angry white male, Tea Party, skin head terrorists, American Vet stereotypes that Big Sis and the MSM has been trying to foist on us?

How about you? Have you seen this video lately, with an ID and a follow up? I thought not!!

20 Examples of How the World Would Look if Big Government Worked

John HawkinsTuesday, May 04, 2010

If you ran into people who insisted on trying to pound nails with a screwdriver no matter how many times they were shown a better way, wouldn't you think there was something wrong with them? What if those people not only used a screwdriver, but demanded that everyone else use a screwdriver instead of a hammer, too? Worse yet, what if those people did this for decades on end?

Well, guess what? We have people like that in this country. They're called liberals and the screwdriver they're using to try to fix America's problems is called big government. Despite the fact that we have decades of accumulated evidence proving that big government doesn't work, liberals just won't give up on it.

Now we may not be able to convince the hidebound Left that government doesn't work, but there are a lot of other Americans with open minds. Maybe some of them can be reached by pointing out how life would be if big government actually worked as well as liberals seem to believe it does.

* FedEx and UPS would be out of business because there'd be no way they could compete with the ruthless efficiency, amazing speed, & dazzling customer service of the post office.
* Our southern and northern borders would be completely secure, the fence on the southern border would be done, and there wouldn't be enough illegals in the United States to even merit a debate about amnesty.
* Social Security would be fully funded and every dime you contribute would be invested, ready to be withdrawn when the government needs to pay your benefits.
* Something as important as
Medicare wouldn't be a giant "Bernie Madoff style" Ponzi scheme that would merit fraud charges if a private citizen tried to create a similar project.
* When George W. Bush said, "Brownie, you're doing a heck of a job," people all across the country would have said, "Yeah, he's right. He is doing a heck of a good job. Go, Brownie!"
* The American people would be clamoring for the billing departments of private companies to match the professionalism, customer service, and competence of the IRS.
* The massive government regulation that was already in place would have prevented the housing crisis that led to the latest recession that affects America -- instead of
creating it by demanding that housing loans be given to poor risks.
* A trip to the DMV would be no more of a hassle than stopping by Wal-Mart to pick up some laundry detergent.
* The Soviet Union would have won the Cold War.
* Members of Congress would actually read and understand the bills they sign into law instead of
saying things like,
What good is reading the (health care) bill if it's a thousand pages and you don't have two days and two lawyers to find out what it means after you read the bill? -- John Conyers (D-MI)
* Prominent supporters of big government like Tim Geithner, Charles Rangel, Tom Daschle, and Al Franken wouldn't have been caught cheating on the taxes required to pay for the huge government programs they advocate.
* It would be as easy to fill out your taxes as it is to apply for a credit card.
* Amtrak would be a cash cow instead of a 40 billion dollar money pit that has
never recorded a profit.
* The government wouldn't have just decided that sending a manned mission to the moon, something we last did way back in 1972,
now and for the foreseeable future is going to be beyond our capabilities.
* Instead of trying to figure out what to do about our massive debt, Americans would be debating whether we want to cut taxes or save all the extra tax dollars we raise in a rainy day fund.
* Government mandated price controls would work and therefore, we wouldn't have had gas lines during the seventies, California wouldn't have had blackouts, and rent control in New York would be producing some of the nation's cheapest housing.
* Having to deal with a government bureaucrat would produce a feeling of cheerful confidence that things are about to start looking up instead of a sense of dread that your afternoon is about to be wasted without getting your problem solved.
* Private schools wouldn't exist because they simply couldn't match the quality education provided by our public schools.
* Rich people would be pulling strings to get into public housing.
* After spending
10 trillion dollars plus fighting the war on poverty, the government would have already won and American society would consist almost entirely of the middle class and the rich.

Semen Donor to the Republican Party?

Hotair.com's Ed Morrisey reported today that New Jersey's new Republican Governor became the first New Jersey Governor in 63 years to refuse to reappoint a sitting State Supreme Court justice..... instead of reappointing this old school, activist liberal justice, Christi is nominating a choice of his own...... a proponent of judicial restraint!!!

Imagine that, a Republican with a set of brass ones, that said what he was going to do, got elected, and is now doing it.. Right on Gov!!!

How about spreading some of that sperm around the next RNC Convention Hall! God knows, they could use a serious influx of new genes in their RINO pool!!

For the full article go to the link... and if you do, read some of the comments!!

There are a great many unhappy folks around this country that would make Christi, some kind of RNC czar if they could!!!

"Gerrymandering" ---- making the vote work for me!!

There is a special election coming up next week.

I was watching the race for Pennsylvania's Congressional District 12 race this weekend, and thought I'd take a peek at the late Congressman Murfa's district....... Shucks, I thought our Texas districts were disjointed...!!!

Can you say ------'GERRYMANDERING ON STEROIDS"?
I've watched Obmanation knock the Tea Partiers, the Patriots who wave little American flags, sing National Anthems, and do all those 'love America' things he abhors...... and wonder why he bad mouths them....

I've heard Big Sis, our illlustrious Secy of Homeland Security accuse all of us retired Vets of being mean spirited and dangerous......and wonder why does she do that......

And I've watched the mains stream media (MSM) echo these vacuous thoughts.... ... but weirdly enough, I ain't heard a damned word about the destruction this Saturday (May 1st) across the country, the graffitti, the windows broken, the sherrifes shot, nor the other ugly things that happened..... I wonder why is that?

In years gone by, I've seen Bush postered as a Hitler and no regrets posted by the Press.... and wonder why is that....

And now the Governor of Arizona.... but I see no regrets expressed by the press.... I wonder why is that.....

When this country finally gives it over to socialism, or islamism,... the press and the elite's AND THE WOMEN will be the first in front of the firing squads............ our soldiers protected them for more than 200 years -- but now they turn their backs on these self same soldiers .......... I wonder why is that...

Give me a break!!!! And a front door......

WASHINGTON – The Supreme Court is closing its iconic front entrance beneath the words "Equal Justice Under Law."

Beginning Tuesday, visitors no longer will ascend the wide marble steps to enter the 75-year-old building. Instead, they will be directed to a central screening facility to the side of and beneath the central steps that was built to improve the court's security as part of a $122 million renovation.
Two justices, Stephen Breyer and Ruth Bader Ginsburg, called the change unfortunate and unjustified.
Breyer said no other high court in the world, not even Israel's, has closed its front entrance over security concerns.
He said the main entrance and front steps "are not only a means to, but also a metaphor for, access to the court itself."
Breyer, joined by Ginsburg, issued an unusual statement that read almost like a dissenting opinion. It was made public at the same time as a press release from the court announcing the change.
Other justices, including Chief Justice John Roberts, have spoken fondly of being able to walk up the steps and through the 1,300-pound bronze doors at the center of the court's columned entryway. Justice Anthony Kennedy told C-SPAN last year that the steps and the words, written by building architect Cass Gilbert, were intended to inspire visitors and justices alike.
The court said the new entrance grew out of two independent security studies in 2001 and 2009.
It also noted that visitors still may exit through the central doors and walk down the 44 steps to the street.
Am I the only guy in the room who noticed that nowhere in that article does it say who made this decision to separate the Court from the Citizens of the USA?
