June 1 (Bloomberg) -- Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner arrived in Beijing with a pledge that the Obama administration will control its borrowing as he sought to reassure China its holdings of U.S. government debt are safe.

“No one is going to be more concerned about future deficits than we are,” Geithner told reporters on the way to two days of meetings that start today in China’s capital.

Geithner will meet with Premier Wen Jiabao, who in March called for the U.S. to “guarantee the safety of China’s assets.” China is the largest foreign holder of U.S. government debt, which so far this year has handed investors the worst loss since at least 1977 on forecasts for ballooning federal budget deficits.

“I hope Geithner’s visit can soothe our nerves,” said Yu Yongding, a senior researcher at the government-backed Chinese Academy of Social Sciences and a former central bank adviser. “The Chinese public is worried about the safety of its foreign- exchange reserves,” Yu said in an e-mail. [. . . .]

It must be said, that like the breaking of a great dam, the American decent into Marxism is happening with breath taking speed, against the back drop of a passive, hapless sheeple, excuse me dear reader, I meant people.

True, the situation has been well prepared on and off for the past century, especially the past twenty years. The initial testing grounds was conducted upon our Holy Russia and a bloody test it was. But we Russians would not just roll over and give up our freedoms and our souls, no matter how much money Wall Street poured into the fists of the Marxists.

Those lessons were taken and used to properly prepare the American populace for the surrender of their freedoms and souls, to the whims of their elites and betters.

First, the population was dumbed down through a politicized and substandard education system based on pop culture, rather then the classics. Americans know more about their favorite TV dramas then the drama in DC that directly affects their lives. They care more for their "right" to choke down a McDonalds burger or a BurgerKing burger than for their constitutional rights. Then they turn around and lecture us about our rights and about our "democracy". Pride blind the foolish.

Then their faith in God was destroyed, until their churches, all tens of thousands of different "branches and denominations" were for the most part little more then Sunday circuses and their televangelists and top protestant mega preachers were more then happy to sell out their souls and flocks to be on the "winning" side of one pseudo Marxist politician or another. Their flocks may complain, but when explained that they would be on the "winning" side, their flocks were ever so quick to reject Christ in hopes for earthly power. Even our Holy Orthodox churches are scandalously liberalized in America.

The final collapse has come with the election of Barack Obama. His speed in the past three months has been truly impressive. His spending and money printing has been a record setting, not just in America's short history but in the world. If this keeps up for more then another year, and there is no sign that it will not, America at best will resemble the Wiemar Republic and at worst Zimbabwe.

These past two weeks have been the most breath taking of all. First came the announcement of a planned redesign of the American Byzantine tax system, by the very thieves who used it to bankroll their thefts, loses and swindles of hundreds of billions of dollars. These make our Russian oligarchs look little more then ordinary street thugs, in comparison. Yes, the Americans have beat our own thieves in the shear volumes. Should we congratulate them?

These men, of course, are not an elected panel but made up of appointees picked from the very financial oligarchs and their henchmen who are now gorging themselves on trillions of American dollars, in one bailout after another. They are also usurping the rights, duties and powers of the American congress (parliament). Again, congress has put up little more then a whimper to their masters.

Then came Barack Obama's command that GM's (General Motor) president step down from leadership of his company. That is correct, dear reader, in the land of "pure" free markets, the American president now has the power, the self given power, to fire CEOs and we can assume other employees of private companies, at will. Come hither, go dither, the centurion commands his minions.

So it should be no surprise, that the American president has followed this up with a "bold" move of declaring that he and another group of unelected, chosen stooges will now redesign the entire automotive industry and will even be the guarantee of automobile policies. I am sure that if given the chance, they would happily try and redesign it for the whole of the world, too. Prime Minister Putin, less then two months ago, warned Obama and UK's Blair, not to follow the path to Marxism, it only leads to disaster. Apparently, even though we suffered 70 years of this Western sponsored horror show, we know nothing, as foolish, drunken Russians, so let our "wise" Anglo-Saxon fools find out the folly of their own pride.

Again, the American public has taken this with barely a whimper...but a "freeman" whimper.

So, should it be any surprise to discover that the Democratically controlled Congress of America is working on passing a new regulation that would give the American Treasury department the power to set "fair" maximum salaries, evaluate performance and control how private companies give out pay raises and bonuses? Senator Barney Franks, a social pervert basking in his homosexuality (of course, amongst the modern, enlightened American societal norm, as well as that of the general West, homosexuality is not only not a looked down upon life choice, but is often praised as a virtue) and his Marxist enlightenment, has led this effort. He stresses that this only affects companies that receive government monies, but it is retroactive and taken to a logical extreme, this would include any company or industry that has ever received a tax break or incentive.

The Russian owners of American companies and industries should look thoughtfully at this and the option of closing their facilities down and fleeing the land of the Red as fast as possible. In other words, divest while there is still value left.

The proud American will go down into his slavery with out a fight, beating his chest and proclaiming to the world, how free he really is. The world will only snicker.

Climate change causes 315,000 deaths a year-report

LONDON, May 29 (Reuters) - Climate change kills about 315,000 people a year through hunger, sickness and weather disasters, and the annual death toll is expected to rise to half a million by 2030, a report said on Friday.

The study, commissioned by the Geneva-based Global Humanitarian Forum (GHF), estimates that climate change seriously affects 325 million people every year, a number that will more than double in 20 years to 10 percent of the world's population (now about 6.7 billion).

Economic losses due to global warming amount to over $125 billion annually -- more than the flow of aid from rich to poor nations -- and are expected to rise to $340 billion each year by 2030, according to the report.

"Climate change is the greatest emerging humanitarian challenge of our time, causing suffering to hundreds of millions of people worldwide," Kofi Annan, former U.N. secretary-general and GHF president, said in a statement.

"The first hit and worst affected are the world's poorest groups, and yet they have done least to cause the problem."

The report says developing countries bear more than nine-tenths of the human and economic burden of climate change, while the 50 poorest countries contribute less than 1 percent of the carbon emissions that are heating up the planet.

Annan urged governments due to meet at U.N. talks in Copenhagen in December to agree on an effective, fair and binding global pact to succeed the Kyoto Protocol, the world's main mechanism for tackling global warming.

Okay Pilgrims, let's get real. One Hundred Fifty Seven Million folks die on this planet every year! Yup, 157,000,000 souls pass on. Aside from the fact that WHO claims that 150,000 die because of global warming (a fact many dispute), where in Sam Hell does Kofi the Hustler, get his 315,000 figure..... probably out of a part of his anatomy we don't discuss.

And if it were true - his overblown numbers tell us that .002% of the worlds annual deaths are caused by the effect of global warming. Or putting it another way, if the entire civilized world gave up our standard of living (by his words) 156,685,000 will die instead of 157 million.

Give me a break!! Keep your eye on that Copenhagen meeting Pardners, they gonna get into your pants pocket again! If Obamanation has left anything in there for them to get!!!

Oh, just in case you were wondering, that cute little red car is the new one being introduced on the market in India..... experts predict that it will cause 150,000 vehicle deaths per year in that one country --- maybe if we just cancelled the car -- all this would balance out? Nahh!!

God save us from liberal "empathy." After President Barack Obama announced his empathetic Supreme Court nominee this week, Judge Sonia Sotomayor, we found out that some people are more deserving of empathy than others.

For example, Judge Sotomayor apparently "empathized" more with New Haven, Conn., government officials than with white and Hispanic firefighters who were denied promotions by the city on the basis of their race.

Let's hope she's as empathetic to New Haven residents who die in fires fought by inferior firefighters as a result of her decision.

In the now-famous firefighters' case, Ricci v. DeStefano, the New Haven Fire Department administered a civil service exam to choose a new batch of lieutenants and captains. The city went so far as to hire an outside consultant to design the test in order to ensure that it was job-related and not racially biased. (You know, just like all written tests were pre-screened for racial bias back when we were in school.)

But when the results came in, only whites and Hispanics scored high enough to earn promotions.

Such results never entice Democrats to reconsider their undying devotion to the teachers' unions that routinely produce students who can't read, write or do basic math. Obviously, disadvantaged children from single-parent homes suffer the most from inadequate public schools -- and their tragic outcome bedevils the entire society for the rest of the students' lives.

Instead, Democrats hide the failure of government schools by punishing the high-scoring whites, Asians and Hispanics, who presumably learned everything they know at home. (If only successfully applying a condom were relevant to firefighting, public school graduates raised in single-parent homes would crush the home-learners!)

So naturally, New Haven city officials decided to scrap the exam results and promote no one.

Seventeen of the high-scoring whites and one high-scoring Hispanic sued the mayor, John DeStefano, and other city officials for denying them promotions solely because of their race.

The district court ruled that there was no race discrimination because the low-scoring blacks were not given promotions either -- citing the landmark case, One Bad Apple v. The Rest of the Barrel. (That's the sort of sophistry we're taught in law school.)

Concerned that Sotomayor's famed "empathy" might not shine through in cases such as Ricci v. DeStefano, the Democrats are claiming -- as Obama spokesman Robert Gibbs said on MSNBC -- that she was merely applying "precedent" to decide the case. You know, just like conservatives say judges should.

This was an interesting claim, in the sense that it was the exact polar opposite of the truth.

To be sure, there is "precedent" for racial discrimination by the government, but Plessy v. Ferguson was overturned in 1954 by Brown v. Board of Education. If Sotomayor had another case in mind, she wasn't telling: The lower court's dismissal of the firefighters' case was upheld by Sotomayor and two other judges in an unsigned, unpublished opinion, titled, "Talk to the Hand."

Not only that, but Sotomayor's fellow Clinton appointee, Jose Cabranes (who sounds like an "empathetic" fellow), issued a blistering dissent from the appellate court's denial of a rehearing specifically on the grounds that the case "raises important questions of first impression in our Circuit -- and indeed, in the nation."

A "case of first impression" means there's no precedent. If there were a precedent, it would be a case of, at least, "second impression."

If it were merely "empathy" that explained liberal judges' lawless opinions, one might expect some liberal judges to have empathy for the white and Hispanic firefighters being discriminated against today, and others to have empathy for the hypothetical black firefighters discriminated against in times past.

But all liberals only have empathy for the exact same victims -- always the ones that are represented by powerful liberal interest groups. As Joe Sobran says, it takes a lot of clout to be a victim.

Thus, the media and Democrats seem to find successful Hispanic attorney Sotomayor much more "empathetic" than successful Hispanic attorney Miguel Estrada.

After aggressively blocking Estrada's nomination to a federal appeals court during Bush's first term solely on the grounds that he is Hispanic and was likely headed for the Supreme Court -- according to Senate Democrat staff memos -- now Democrats have the audacity to rave that Sotomayor will be the first Hispanic Supreme Court justice!

If Sotomayor is not more empathetic than Estrada, liberals at least consider her more Hispanic -- an interesting conclusion inasmuch as Sotomayor was born in New York and Estrada was born in Honduras.

Forty-four of 48 Senate Democrats voted to filibuster Estrada's nomination to the D.C. Circuit Court of Appeals, with congressman and professional Hispanic Raul Grijalva assuring them that just because "he happens to be named 'Estrada' does not give him a free ride."

The truth is liberals couldn't care less about Sotomayor being Hispanic. Indeed, liberals often have trouble telling Hispanic people apart, as James Carville illustrated on "Good Morning America" Wednesday morning when he kept confusing Miguel Estrada with Alberto Gonzales.

"Empathy," in Liberalspeak, is nothing but raw political power.

WASHINGTON – President Barack Obama hit the golf course after marking his first Memorial Day as commander in chief.

The president's motorcade took him to Fort Belvoir in Virginia. That's where he went for a game of golf more than a week ago.

Obama grabbed his clubs after he participated in Memorial Day observances at Arlington National Cemetery. He laid a wreath at the Tomb of the Unknowns and, in brief remarks, saluted the men and women of America's fighting forces as "the best of America."

It was not immediately clear who joined the president for the round of golf.

Now don't misunderstand me folks, I got nothing against the POTUS playing around of golf, but I got to thinking about all the bad press that 'W' got when he played a round of golf during the War in Iraq . He even had to give the game up because of the constant negative publicity he received.

Now - here's the question: Did any of you see a picture of 'O', standing on the 1st tee an hour after the Memorial services on your evening news? Nope? Neither did I!! And us with two wars going on and men dying.....

Ain't that a wonderment? Oh, I did hear that he 'paused' for a moment at 3 PM in Honor of the millions of folks who have died in uniform protecting that White House he's rooming in. That was nice......

President Obama's energy adviser has suggested all the world's roofs should be painted white as part of efforts to slow global warming.

Professor Steven Chu, the US Energy Secretary, said the unusual proposal would mean homes in hot countries would save energy and money on air conditioning by deflecting the sun's rays.

More pale surfaces could also slow global warming by reflecting heat into space rather than allowing it to be absorbed by dark surfaces where it is trapped by greenhouse gases and increases temperatures.

In a wide-ranging discussion at the three-day Nobel laureate Symposium in London, the Professor described climate change as a "crisis situation", and called for a whole host of measures to be introduced, from promoting energy efficiency to renewable energy such as wind, wave and solar.

The Nobel Prize-winning physicist said the US was not considering any large scale "geo-engineering" projects where science is used to reverse global warming, but was in favour of "white roofs everywhere".

He said lightening roofs and roads in urban environments would offset the global warming effects of all the cars in the world for 11 years.

"If you look at all the buildings and if you make the roofs white and if you make the pavement more of a concrete type of colour rather than a black type of colour and if you do that uniformally, that would be the equivalent of... reducing the carbon emissions due to all the cars in the world by 11 years – just taking them off the road for 11 years," he said.

Kind of gives a whole new meaning to 'white washing' our problems away, doesn't it???

Supervisor Asks Woman To Take Down American Flag Reporting Carol Cavazos MANSFIELD (CBS 11 News) ― (London Telegraph)

Is it okay to show your patriotism at the office?

For one Arlington woman, the answer was "no" after she hung an American flag in her office just before the Memorial Day weekend. Debbie McLucas is one of four hospital supervisors at Kindred Hospital in Mansfield. Last week, she hung a three-by-five foot American flag in the office she shares with the other supervisors.

When McLucas came to work Friday, her boss told her another supervisor had found her flag offensive. "I was just totally speechless. I was like, 'You're kidding me,'" McLucas said.

McLucas' husband and sons are former military men. Her daughter is currently serving in Iraq as a combat medic. Stifling a cry, McLucas said, "I just wonder if all those young men and women over there are really doing this for nothing."

McLucas said the supervisor who complained has been in the United States for 14 years and is formerly from Africa. McLucas said the supervisor took down Debbie's flag herself. "The flag and the pole had been placed on the floor," McLucas said. But McLucas also said hospital higher ups had told her some patients' families and visitors had also complained. "I was told it wouldn't matter if it was only one person," she said. "It would have to come down."

McLucas said hospital bosses told her as far as patriotism was concerned, the flag flying outside the hospital building would have to suffice. Kindred Hospital Corporate Headquarters are located in Kentucky. They have yet to make a final decision on the matter. They have not returned our phone calls for comment. The Kindred Hospital Corporation was chosen as Fortune's most admired for 2009.

McLucas hopes they'll back her patriotism. "I find it very frightening because if I can't display my flag, what other freedoms will I lose before all is said and done," McLucas asked

I tell you what Pilgrims...... I see this anti-American thing coming down from the top, and now every dip-stick immigrant or Islamic convert-come-lately is exercising their new PC muscles. GIVE up lamb roasts and save the planet. Government advisers are developing menus to combat climate change by cutting out “high carbon” food such as meat from sheep, whose burping poses a serious threat to the environment.

Out will go kebabs, greenhouse tomatoes and alcohol. Instead, diners will be encouraged to consume more potatoes and seasonal vegetables, as well as pork and chicken, which generate fewer carbon emissions.

“Changing our lifestyles, including our diets, is going to be one of the crucial elements in cutting carbon emissions,” said David Kennedy, chief executive of the Committee on Climate Change.

Kennedy has stopped eating his favourite doner kebabs because they contain lamb.

Now Pilgrims, you probably think I'm gonna tell you that this Kennedy fella's elevator doesn't go all the way to the top, but I'm not. That would be to simple an answer-- 'cause the world is full of elitist hair brains like this dude. That's the scary part.

Earths atmosphere is comprised of water vapor; apart from that, dry air consists of approximately

and small amounts of other gases.

The amount of carbon dioxide is important to the earth's climate even though it makes up less than 4/100 of 1% percent of the total atmosphere.. yep -you read it right CO2 makes up 4/100's of One Percent!

Without that tiny amount of CO2, all things green, including those rain forests that everybody wrings their hands over, would plumb curl up and die..

Whee Doggies, where do these idiots come from -- and why do other idiots give them ink space? "Burpin' Lambs" indeed! Where's them fellers in the white coats. I'll bet ole' Al Gorebot soils hisself when he sees stuff like this.

Next time you Pilgrims see one of these airheads spouting such nonsense -- remember this high placed gooney bird, and put what you are reading in the right perspective.

Geithner carries fat fiscal burden but thin wallet

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - What's in the wallet of Timothy Geithner, whose hands as U.S. Treasury secretary are on some of the fattest government purse strings in the world?

Not much, it appears, beyond a few bank cards, some euros and a worthless Zimbabwean bill.

Geithner, testifying to a congressional panel on Thursday about efforts to tackle the financial crisis, was shown a $50 billion bank note from Zimbabwe that has nearly no value due to hyperinflation in that African country.

Representative John Culberson asked Geithner if he had ever seen such a bill himself, prompting the Treasury secretary to reach into his pocket and produce a Zimbabwean note.

"I often have some foreign currency in my wallet," Geithner told Reuters during a break. "Want to see?"

Many of the slots in the thin, weathered leather wallet were empty. There were three cards with Visa and MasterCard logos -- all inserted upside down so the issuers could not be seen -- and a yellowed identification card of some sort.

From inside, Geithner pulled a small pile of receipts and papers, including a New York City transit card, pointing out there were some euros tucked in there too.

Anything else? Not a single U.S. dollar was in sight.

Is business or politics the culprit in our current plight?

Each day free people voluntarily take money from their pockets to reward “entrepreneurs” who have produced goods andservices that are of greater value to them than the money.

That is why free enterprise economies create the inventions and innovations that are the envy of socialist nations.

The person responsible for leading these organizations (businesses), constantly seeking to satisfy the consumer, is the Chief Executive Officer (CEO). Every day their performance is put to the judges (consumers) for their approval. Success means jobs, profit, more goods and services, higher standard of living, tax payments, a better community and nation.

Thus, all energies are focused on keeping the business profitable.

Failure to satisfy the consumer means no jobs, no profit, fewer goods and services, lower standard of living, diminished tax receipts and a poorer community and nation.

Simple enough.

America is the richest nation on earth because we have, until recent weeks, honored and encouraged business success.

But today, too many do not seem to understand this basic concept. Politicians are not business people. Rather than seeking profits necessary for jobs and national prosperity, they seek votes. Decisions are motivated not by “what will best satisfy the consumer’?” but rather what will best benefit political success.

The question each morning before the CEO is, “will this help create a profit?”

The question each morning before the politician is “will this help create a vote.?

Two weeks ago Americans, and the world, saw the CEO and the politicians meet.

Edward Liddy is the voluntary CEO for the bereft AIG. Like those in FDR’s kitchen cabinet, he is a “$1 a-year-man,” working for less than 2 cents a week. He is seeking to use his skills to save AIG, its employees and the hundreds of companies and the thousands of their employees impacted by it.

Congress is, of course, well aware of this. So how did Washington politicians express their gratitude to the charitable Mr. Liddy? He was hauled in front of a Congressional Committee to be publically berated.

Here is the real sticker, however. He was not berated for anything he did. He was berated by the majority members in Congress for WHAT THEY DID!

They wrote a federal law, signed by the President of the United States and recorded into the United States Code, that it would be a federal offense for Mr. Liddy to deny bonuses to AIG employees if they had negotiated those bonuses prior to February 11, 2009.

Mr. Liddy, an honest businessman, had no choice by to follow the law. This action aroused the most severe hostility of the very Congressmen who wrote the law he obeyed.

Representative Paul Hodes’ (D-N.H.) fumed, “A.I.G.” now stands for “arrogance, incompetence and greed.” Hodes’ bile typified the hypocritical speechifying that members of Congress engaged in for public consumption. They were posturing political hypocrites and it all came at the expense of the law-abiding Liddy.

Not to be left out of this arrogant charade, the president, as he headed toward his helicopter and 5 jumbo jets waiting to whisk off the uber-community organizer to Europe, coerced the General Motors Corporation to fire their 31 year veteran and CEO Rick Wagoner.

Politicians who have never met a payroll or sufficiently satisfied a consumer to turn a profit at anything are laying down the law to private businesses about whom they should follow and how much money they should make.

America attained its greatness by entrusting its economy to the ruthless, but fair, disciplines of consumers in the marketplace. Mr. Obama and his fans on Capitol Hill are rapidly changing that system.

The commanding heights of the world’s most successful economy are being taken over by an utterly unqualified political class. We are watching CEOs who make business decisions to earn a profit being vilified and cashiered by politicians who haughtily make decisions to get votes.

That is a dangerous trade.

President Obama is not the first to follow this path. History is replete with predecessors.

America is populated with those who escaped their tyrannies. Where will we go now?

More Obama mis-direction...... beware Pilgrims!!

After losing the Washington DC 2nd Amendment case in the Supreme Court, Obamanation and his beltway cabal have obviously decided to sneak in the back door. If they can't take our weapons away --- they'll take away the ammunition and we'll be left with wood and metal clubs on our gun racks. Here is just the latest example:

Georgia Arms is the 5th largest retailer of .223 Ammo in America . They sell 9mm, .45, .223 ammunition. They normally buy spent brass from the US Department of Defense. Spent brass is "one time used" shell cases used by our Military for training purposes.

They buy the brass, recondition it, and then reload the brass for resale to Law Enforcement Departments across the country, Gun Clubs, and Gun Shops. They normally buy 30,000 lbs of spent brass at a time.

This spring, Obamanation's new DoD wrote a letter to the owner of Georgia Arms and informed him that from now on the DoD will be destroying the spent brass, shredding it. It will no longer be available to the ammo makers, unless they buy it in a scrap shredded condition (which they have no use for).

The shredded brass is now going to be sold by the DOD to China as scrap metal, after the DOD pays for it to be shredded. The DOD is selling the brass to China for less money than the ammo makers have been paying, plus the DOD has to pay to have the brass shredded and
do the accounting paperwork.

This sure helps the economy now doesn't it? Sell cheaper to China , and do not sell at all to a proven US business. Any hidden agenda working here?
Obama is going after the Firearms Industry and our ammunition!!


The Georgia Arms owner even related a story that one of his competitors had already purchased a load of brass recently. The DOD contacted him and said they were sending someone over to
make sure it was destroyed. Shell cases he had already bought!

The brass has no value to the ammo maker if it is destroyed/shredded/melted. The ammo manufacturer only uses the empty brass cases to reload different calibers, mainly .223 bullets.

The owner of Georgia Arms says that he will have to lay off at least half of his 60 workers,
within 2-3 months if the DOD will no longer sell spent brass cases to the industry. Georgia Arms has 2-3 months of inventory to use, by summer they're out.

If the Reloading Industry has to purchase new manufacture brass cases, then the cost of ammunition will double or even triple, plus Obama wants to add a huge tax on each round.

One of the more salient comments posted to this latest example of O's socialist programs reminded us that Law Enforcement Agencies (your local police department) are some of the greatest users of this reloaded ammo in their training programs. The point being, that we the tax payers have to buy that ammo for police training -- and we are once again, gonna get bit in the pocketbook when these law enforcement agencies have to start paying double and triple prices for their ammo.

All of those pilgirms who voted for 'Hope' and 'Change' should be plumb proud....

My name is George C. Joseph. I am the sole owner of Sunshine Dodge-Isuzu, a family owned and operated business in Melbourne, Florida. My family bought and paid for this automobile franchise 35 years ago in 1974. I am the second generation to manage this business.

We currently employ 50+ people and before the economic slowdown we employed over 70 local people. We are active in the community and the local chamber of commerce. We deal with several dozen local vendors on a day to day basis and many more during a month. All depend on our business for part of their livelihood. We are financially strong with great respect in the market place and community. We have strong local presence and stability.

I work every day the store is open, nine to ten hours a day. I know most of our customers and all our employees. Sunshine Dodge is my life.

On Thursday, May 14, 2009 I was notified that my Dodge franchise, that we purchased, will be taken away from my family on June 9, 2009 without compensation and given to another dealer at no cost to them. My new vehicle inventory consists of 125 vehicles with a financed balance of 3 million dollars. This inventory becomes impossible to sell with no factory incentives beyond June 9, 2009. Without the Dodge franchise we can no longer sell a new Dodge as "new," nor will we be able to do any warranty service work. Additionally, my Dodge parts inventory, (approximately $300,000.) is virtually worthless without the ability to perform warranty service. There is no offer from Chrysler to buy back the vehicles or parts inventory.

Our facility was recently totally renovated at Chrysler's insistence, incurring a multi-million dollar debt in the form of a mortgage at Sun Trust Bank.

HOW IN THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA CAN THIS HAPPEN?

THIS IS A PRIVATE BUSINESS NOT A GOVERNMENT ENTITY

This is beyond imagination! My business is being stolen from me through NO FAULT OF OUR OWN. We did NOTHING wrong.

This atrocity will most likely force my family into bankruptcy. This will also cause our 50+ employees to be unemployed. How will they provide for their families? This is a total economic disaster.

HOW CAN THIS HAPPEN IN A FREE MARKET ECONOMY IN THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA?

WASHINGTON -- Democrats in the House Energy and Commerce Committee have taken a novel precaution to head off Republican efforts to slow action this week on a sweeping climate bill. They are hiring a speed reader.

Republicans on the committee have said they may force the reading of the entire 946-page bill -- as well as major amendments that measure several hundred pages -- all aloud. This is a procedure lawmakers have a right to invoke. Republicans are largely against the bill, which aims to cut emissions of so-called greenhouse gases by more than 80% over the next half-century but would be costly.

Republicans haven't tried the tactic, but Committee Chairman Henry Waxman (D., Calif.) is prepared.

A committee spokeswoman said the speed reader -- a young man who was on door duty at the hearing as he awaited a call to the microphone -- was hired to help staffers. After years of practice, the panel's clerks can read at a good clip. But the speed reader is a lot faster, she said.

"Judging by the size of the amendments, I can read a page about every 34 seconds," said the newly hired staff assistant, who declined to give his name. Based on that estimate, it would take him about nine hours.

It took the committee more than two hours Tuesday to debate and vote on the first proposed amendment. By the time Capitol Hill interns finally left for tacos and happy-hour drinks at the local Mexican restaurant, the panel had approved just three amendments. Among them was a proposal to give government subsidies to people who trade in old cars or trucks for new, more efficient ones.

Mr. Waxman has said he still hopes to finish the bill by Thursday, meeting his goal of moving the climate bill out of committee by Memorial Day.

"He's dreaming. It ain't going to happen," said Texas Rep. Joe Barton, the panel's ranking Republican. He added that Republicans "have 400 amendments that we could offer, but there are at least 75-80 that we almost have to offer."

It appears to me that those Dems will do whatever it takes to get this brother-in-law, boondoggling, tax money throw-away bill passed. Full steam ahead and don't spare the lips!!

The life-size figure stands as a busty beacon outside a restaurant in suburban Reading owned by Kenny Tessel. He told zoning officials at a hearing Wednesday night that the advertising gimmick has boosted business 40 percent.

The 5-foot-10 mannequin is on the street wearing a bikini top and tight short-shorts, though Tessel brought her to the hearing draped in a long, sleeveless gray T-shirt.

The board said Tessel may continue to use the figure only if it's dressed more modestly in front of the restaurant, too.

He plans to appeal.

Lets hope that Bar Be Q prevails and the good citizens of Reading continue to enjoy her company................and cooking.

Granted, the MSM has done a good job in suppressing any sort of coverage ahead of time (and the little coverage they did provide was derisive at best),but how out of touch is the Community Organizer in Chief, really?

This much:

- He was unaware that he was attending a church (for 20 years) with a racist pastor who hates America .

- He was unaware that he was family friends with, and started his political career in the living room of, a domestic terrorist.

- He was unaware that he had invested in two speculative companies backed by some of his top donors right after taking office in 2005.

- He was unaware that his own aunt was living in the US illegally.

- He was unaware that his own brother lives on pennies a day in a hut in Kenya .

- He was unaware of the AIG bonuses that he and his administration approved and signed into a bill.

- He was unaware that the man he nominated to be his Secretary of Commerce was under investigation in a bribery scandal.

- He was unaware that the man he nominated to be his Secretary of Health and Human Services was a tax cheat.

- He was unaware that the man he nominated to be his Secretary of the Treasury was a tax cheat.

- He was unaware that the man he nominated to be the U.S. Trade Representative was a tax cheat.

- He was unaware that the woman he nominated to be his Chief Performance Officer was a tax cheat.

- He was unaware that the man he nominated to be #2 at the Environmental Protection Agency was under investigation for mismanaging $25 million in EPA grants.

For the love of God, there are people in comas that are more aware of world affairs than this guy.

New meaning to the term.. Caught with his pants down....

Texas soldier leaped to defense sans trousers and boots!! In a sudden morning attack by the Taliban on his position in Afghanistan, he grabbed his helmet, flak jacket and weapon. His "I love NY" pink boxers and flip flops weren't the uniform of the day--
When 19 year old Zachary Boyd, was rudely awakened by the attack, he had no idea that an AP photographer was in the area and that he'd end up on the front page of the NY Times & London Telegraph.

The young soldier's dad said, "'I knew he was a boxer guy. I knew that for sure. I did not know they were pink, and I didn't know they said, 'I love New York'. He told his local Texas radio station WBAP. 'After I saw the picture I just laughed for about five minutes.'

Boyd, who graduated from Keller Central High School in 2007, decided to join the army because of the September 11 attacks. He was promoted to the rank of Army Specialist last week.

At an age when most American kids are 'trying to find themselves' or find a college to go laze the next four years away, Specialist Boyd is a very special lad!!! Like millions in the generations before him, he's the reason you are reading this in English, not your teachers or politicians!!!

Had an old friend pass me a story this morning that I got to share with all you vet's..... & fighter pilot fans....

This from a fighter pilot who runs a 2000 acre corn farm up around Barron WI, not far from Oshkosh. He used to fly F4Es and F-16s for the Guard and participated in the first Gulf War...

The Great Air Battle

I went out to plant corn for a bit to finish a
field before tomorrow morning and witnessed The Great Battle.

A golden eagle - a big bastard, about six foot
wingspan - flew right in front of the
tractor. It was being chased by three crows that
were continually dive bombing it and pecking at
it. The crows do this because the eagles rob their nests when they find them.

At any rate, the eagle banked hard right in one
evasive maneuver, then landed in the field about
100 feet from the tractor. This eagle stood
about 3 feet tall. The crows all landed too and
took up positions around the eagle at 120° apart,
but kept their distance at about 20 feet from the
big bird. The eagle would take a couple steps
towards one of the crows and they'd hop backwards
and forward to keep their distance.

Then, the reinforcements showed up.

I happened to spot the eagle's mate hurtling down
out of the sky at what appeared to be
approximately Mach 1.5. Just before impact, the
eagle on the ground took flight, and the three
crows which were watching the grounded eagle,
also took flight thinking they were going to get
in some more pecking on the big bird. The first
crow being targeted by the diving eagle never
stood a snowball's chance in hell.
There was a mid-air explosion of black feathers
and that crow was done. The diving eagle then
banked hard left in what had to be a 9G climbing
turn, using the energy it had accumulated in the
dive, and hit crow #2 less than two seconds later. Another crow dead.

The grounded eagle, which was now airborne and
had an altitude advantage on the remaining crow,
which was streaking eastward in full burner, made
a short dive then banked hard right when the
escaping crow tried to evade the hit. It didn't
work - crow #3 bit the dust at about 20 feet altitude.

This aerial battle was better than any airshow
I've been to, including the warbirds show at
Oshkosh! The two eagles ripped the crows apart
and ate them on the ground, and as I got closer
and closer working my way across the field, I
passed within 20 feet of one of them as it ate
its catch. It stopped and looked at me as I went
by and you could see in the look of that bird
that it knew who's Boss Of The Sky. What a beaut !!

The Lord works in mysterious ways, delivering heroes just when we need them most.

It was a bleak January afternoon. There were months to slog through before spring came and the daily financial news was the most apocalyptic I'd ever heard. And then, on the 15th, there was that news flash: a crippled plane had downed in the Hudson....but, but... all 155 passengers were safe! They were standing on the wings! In the middle of the frozen river! With tugs and row boats and everything else New York harbor could muster racing toward them. For days afterward, a grateful nation turned over details of the amazing tale of US Airways pilot Chesly Sullenberger like children examining a gift train set: How he'd calmly told New York air traffic controllers "We're going in the river," how he'd walked the length of the fuselage in knee-high water to ensure everyone was out. And I sincerely felt at the time that "Sully", as the entire country came to know him, had been sent to us to lift our spirits and remind us what bravery looks like.

A few months later, a tense spring. Financial news still apocalyptic. And suddenly a YouTube link appears and we are mesmerized by a spunky little lady named Susan Boyle who marched into the Belly of the Beast of agesim and lookism with her chin up and a glint in her eye. Women everywhere wept and wept because...for a complex of reasons...maybe because we thought of all the times we'd told ourselves we were too old or too fat and hadn't held our chin up like Susan.

And now He has brought us the latest inspirational figure. The hills 'round New York ring with the name of Molly the Cow -- another lady with an unfashionably plump (500 pounds) figure. Just as the world shows itself, once again, all too ready to line up behind particularly dangerous leaders, this all-black heifer emerges to show us, literally, that we don't have to placidly follow the herd to destruction. Molly, she has only recently acquired this name, was one of a multitude of anonymous bovines standing in a pen outside the Musa Halal slaughterhouse in Queens, New York waiting to be herded inside when she apparently decided, "Oh no you don't, bub."

According to news reports she butted her way through a fence and then "charged up 109th Street with a butcher along with several responding officers hot on her tail. Witnesses, shocked at what they were seeing, steered clear of the animal ...After a chase that lasted nearly an hour, the New York City Police Department's Emergency Service Unit managed to corner the cow in a residential yard... Officers used tranquilizer darts to calm the animal, before loading her into a police horse trailer that was brought to the scene. It reportedly took at least a dozen cops to get the stumbling cow into the trailer." And not before she'd knocked a nice hole in the trailer all with her stubby horns.

Now, Musa Halal might have just come picked her up and dragged her back, except -- and here the story takes a post-modern twist -- Molly was now too famous! She was "the renegade cow" as one newspaper put it. The Daily News had ended its story on her with "Go Molly Go!." So the slaughterhouse instead released her to to the Center for Animal Care and Control in East New York which in turn announced that, as an unclaimed animal, she would go to the first viable owner who appeared. Offers poured in.

The ending is so sweet it's almost Disney-esque: Molly was claimed by an 60-acre organic farm on Long Island, about 15 miles from the Hamptons (should she be nominated to be a mascot at a film festival or something.) The owner has no untoward plans for her, only that she "eat some good organic hay and hang around with a lot of her friends." He has parked her across a fence from Wexler, a friendly steer (who is also a "rescue animal" having been taken over from a school-childrens' agricultural club that lost its financing) and the news media has already swarmed around taking pictures of Molly with her new "boyfriend." "Molly Escapes Death and Finds Love," blared the New York Post's headline.

"She can eat and sleep for the rest of her life," the farmer said. "She is not going anywhere. The bottom line is she will have a very good home.”

A lesson for us all: Never say die. Don't let the bastards get you down. Question authority. And always, always, Go for it!

Yours truly had a 'Come to Jesus' chat with a couple of other retired military bloggers yesterday, and I came a way with the feeling that I oughtta be more positive! So with that in mind, I started looking around the news of the day today and see:

- Obamanation run Chrysler & GM have announced the closure of about 2,000 dealerships. With about 50 employees per dealership - that looks to be about 100,000 new folks in line at the unemployment office in the last 24 hours......

- The 'Buy America' clause in O's Porkulus bill has forced companies across the country to cancel long term contracts with our neighbors the the North. And so the Canadians are now getting red in the face, reciprocating -- and many US firms are losing major markets, and making cuts!

-- and then I read this in Bloomberg News this morning -- the 'TOTUS' told the POTUS to say:

Obama Says U.S. Long-Term Debt Load ‘Unsustainable’

May 14 (Bloomberg) -- President Barack Obama, calling current deficit spending “unsustainable,” warned of skyrocketing interest rates for consumers if the U.S. continues to finance government by borrowing from other countries.

“We can’t keep on just borrowing from China,” Obama said at a town-hall meeting in Rio Rancho, New Mexico, outside Albuquerque. “We have to pay interest on that debt, and that means we are mortgaging our children’s future with more and more debt.”

Holders of U.S. debt will eventually “get tired” of buying it, causing interest rates on everything from auto loans to home mortgages to increase, Obama said. “It will have a dampening effect on our economy.”

Earlier this week, the Obama administration revised its own budget estimates and raised the projected deficit for this year to a record $1.84 trillion, up 5 percent from the February estimate. The revision for the 2010 fiscal year estimated the deficit at $1.26 trillion, up 7.4 percent from the February figure. The White House Office of Management and Budget also projected next year’s budget will end up at $3.59 trillion, compared with the $3.55 trillion it estimated previously.

Two weeks ago, the president proposed $17 billion in budget cuts, with plans to eliminate or reduce 121 federal programs. Republicans ridiculed the amount, saying that it represented one-half of 1 percent of the entire budget. They noted that Obama is seeking an $81 billion increase in other spending.

Not even Dick Cheney can incite the blood-curdling rage of liberals at the sight of a sexy Evangelical Christian. Paula Jones, Katherine Harris, Michele Bachmann, Sarah Palin and, most recently, Miss California, Carrie Prejean, have all come under a frenzy of attacks from liberals.

Christians are supposed to be fat, balding sweaty little men with bad complexions. It's liberals who are supposed to be the sexy ones. (I know that from watching "The West Wing" and all movies starring Julia Roberts.)

But sadly for liberals, in real life, the fat, balding sweaty little guy with the bad complexion is Perez Hilton and the smoking-hot babe is Carrie Prejean.

This apparent contradiction incites violent anger in liberals, triggering their famous "flight or flight" response. So liberal masturbators are, once again, launching furious attacks on a beautiful Christian in a fit of pique similar to the one directed at Joan of Arc.

First, the Miss USA contest held a press conference to announce that Prejean had breast implants. Take a Christian position in public and Satan's handmaidens will turn all your secrets into front-page news.

Next, a photographer released a single cheesecake photo of Prejean. This prompted liberal reporters who have never met a Christian to proclaim that Christians were outraged by the photo. Liberals believe abortion is a sacrament, but smoking, wearing short skirts and modeling lingerie are mortal sins. (And if wearing women's underwear is a basis for being disqualified from the pageant, that's the end of Perez Hilton's judging career.)

Then on Monday some genuine "semi-nude" photos were released. These were not what we'd call appropriate for a Christian. In a curiously similar attack, the left's final attempt to destroy Paula Jones was to lure her into appearing naked in Penthouse magazine. Oh well.

Christians aren't people who believe they are without sin; they're people who know they're sinners and are awestruck by God's grace in sending his only Son to take the punishment they deserve.

This is in contradistinction to liberals, all of whom believe they're on a fast track to heaven on the basis of being "basically good" people -- and also believe that anyone who disagrees with that theological view is evil.

Finally (so far, anyway), reporters gleefully released the divorce records of Prejean's parents. Because when you want the truth, what is more reliable than angry accusations traded in the middle of an acrimonious divorce?

Liberals used the divorce papers to argue that Prejean had some deep-seated psychological disturbance causing her to oppose gay marriage. Symptoms of this debilitating illness include a belief in some sort of "god" and a reverence for the Bible.

It's not as if Prejean's special talent in the Miss USA contest was to perform an opposite-sex marriage. (Or, as the president and I call it, "marriage.") She didn't even volunteer her "controversial" views on marriage. Rather, she was asked for her opinion on gay marriage and gave it -- in an answer wrapped in so many layers of sugar it took 10 minutes to get to the point.

"Well, I think it's great that Americans are able to choose one way or the other. We live in a land where you can choose same-sex marriage or opposite marriage. You know what, in my country, in my family, I do believe that marriage should be between a man and a woman, no offense to anybody out there. But that's how I was raised, and I believe that it should be between a man and a woman."

What a vicious hate-monger! Any second there I was expecting her to bust out a "by golly!" or an "oh my gosh!" Angry gay-marriage supporters should be happy they didn't get my version of that answer. It contains some terms you won't find in your Bible.

Liberals wouldn't attack James Dobson with the amount of bile they've directed at a 21-year-old beauty contestant. It's not just Christianity -- it's women liberals hate.

From Jean-Paul Sartre, Pablo Picasso and Bertrand Russell, who treated women -- mostly their mistresses -- like dogs, to Teddy Kennedy and Bill Clinton in our own day, liberals are ferocious misogynists. They share Muslims' opinion of women, differing only to the extent that liberals also support a women's right to have an abortion and to perform lap dances.

You'd be better off in a real burqa than under the authority of a liberal American male.

I'm not sure we needed a psychological profile of Prejean to figure out why she holds the same position on gay marriage as: the president, the vice president, the secretary of state, Bill Clinton, John Kerry, John Edwards and his mistress, and the vast majority of the American people.

But what is crying out for an explanation is why every bubble-head TV news anchorette from a nice, churchgoing red state ends up adopting the political views of Karl Marx.

From Katie Couric on CBS to Norah O'Donnell on MSNBC, the whole stable of TV anchorettes weirdly have the exact same politics as their liberal masters. It's the ideological burqa women are required to wear to work in the mainstream media. As with a conventional burqa, it enforces conformity and severely restricts the vision.

The only way to protect yourself is to do the liberal male's bidding, as the bubble-head anchorettes do, or stand on the rock of Christianity.

Now, another beautiful Christian has thrown off the liberal burqa, thereby inciting mass hysteria throughout the liberal establishment. Prejean doesn't care. She is blazing across the sky, as impotent nose-pickers jockey for a piece of her reflected light by hurling insults at her.

The Food and Drug Administration scolded the makers of Cheerios about the way they promote the cereal's health benefits. The FDA sent a letter of warning to General Mills accusing them of making unauthorized health claims.

Current boxes of Cheerios are touting what the company calls exciting news -- the cereal's ability to help lower cholesterol 10 percent in one month.

"My mother actually eats it every day, seven days a week for breakfast to lower her cholesterol," Staten Island resident Lauren Schwam said.

According to a letter from the FDA General Mills' advertising violates the federal Food, Drug and Cosmetic Act. The agency said claims that Cheerios ingredients can lower cholesterol within a certain amount of time, all while providing cancer-fighting and heart-healthy benefits, essentially makes Cheerios "a drug" by their definition. And no drug in this country can be legally marketed without an approved new drug application.

As a certified dietetic nutritionist, Keri Glassman often recommends foods high in soluble fiber for patients looking to lower their cholesterol.

"Because of the oats, because of the soluble fiber in Cheerios, it may help you reduce cholesterol and I think the FDA is still acknowledging that ... I just think they are saying but you can't really say that because you are a food product, not a drug," Glassman said.

Well shucks Pilgrims, all I can say is Thank God and Praise Be that we have Obamanation in the White House. How did Maryland legislators manage to sneak this law through?

As of 2009 in Maryland, “insurance companies wishing to do business…must disclose any policies they or their predecessor firms provided to slave owners until 1865...”

You read that correctly. The quote comes from The Daily Record of April 14. Gov. Martin O’Malley signed this meaningless, do-nothing bill into law on April 12. It was sponsored by Baltimore state Sen. Lisa Gladden. As a result of this latest display of “Democrats Gone Wild,” insurance company executives now have to become historians. To quote directly from The Daily Record story:

“The law, formerly Senate Bill 751, requires insurance companies to disclose to the state’s insurance commissioner each of their slaveholder policies, including the name of the owner and the slaves. The companies have until Oct. 1, 2011, to comply. The insurance commissioner will issue a report by April 1, 2012, containing those names as well as copies of the policies. The report will be made available to the public and posted on the Maryland Insurance Administration’s Web site. The new law also requires that a copy of the report be kept at the Thurgood Marshall Law Library at the University of Maryland School of Law to honor the late black civil rights attorney and Supreme Court justice…”

And how did Gladden justify wasting taxpayers’ time and money by having her fellow legislators pass such useless legislation? It’s “not about meting out punishment for long-ago wrongs but helping Americans gain a deeper understanding of the evils of slavery and to find peace with the nation’s checkered past,” she told The Daily Record. Then she added this corker.

“This is about becoming comfortable with our history. This is about healing. Let’s move on.”

It occurs to me that 99.9 percent of the nation’s population has already “moved on.” Most Americans know slavery was evil. If those advocates of reparations for slavery had a buck for every white American who has said slavery was evil, then those advocates wouldn’t need reparations. When it comes to slavery, the vast majority of Americans have already “moved on.” Gladden just needs to catch up with the rest of us.

Usually when something like this happens, you can bet there’s a hidden agenda involved. In fact, if you Google the words “hidden agenda” I wouldn’t be surprised if Gladden’s picture popped up. Either hers or some other reparations for slavery advocates.

Because that is where this will lead. First comes the hump-busting law requiring companies to show that they were involved in and profited from slavery. Once that’s done, you can bet there will be a call for those companies to pay out some reparations money.

And it won’t be cheap.

Gladden tried to mask her hidden agenda with some noble, high-falutin’ language. So did some of the University of Maryland School of Law students who helped her draft SB 751. One of them, Michelle McCloud, told The Daily Record she hopes the law “sparks a discussion” about slavery and that “it’s important to get a dialogue going.”

Once again it is my happy duty to translate sappy liberal-ese into plain, simple English. When libs and lefties say they want to “talk about” slavery or race relations or “get a dialogue” going about those matters, what they mean is this:

“We only want those people who agree with us to take part in the discussion. If you’re going to bring up that annoying business of how whites in Europe and America tried to end slavery and the slave trade while Africans and Arabs were actively engaged in it, then you’re not welcome in the discussion.”

The late Daniel Patrick Moynihan, who worked in the administration of President Lyndon Johnson before he became a U.S. senator from New York, found this out the hard way when his report on the black family came out in 1965. Moynihan said that the matriarchal family structure of black America was a problem, and predicted with chilling accuracy what would happen if the problem got worse.

Moynihan, a liberal, was shouted down by his fellow liberals who happened to be black before the ink was barely dry on his report. So much for “dialogue.”

CBS Sports commentator David Feherty drew criticism Friday for suggesting any U.S. soldier would murder House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) and Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) if given the chance.

"From my own experience visiting the troops in the Middle East, I can tell you this, though: despite how the conflict has been portrayed by our glorious media, if you gave any U.S. soldier a gun with two bullets in it, and he found himself in an elevator with Nancy Pelosi, Harry Reid, and Osama bin Laden, there's a good chance that Nancy Pelosi would get shot twice, and Harry Reid and bin Laden would be strangled to death," Feherty wrote in an a D Magazine piece welcoming former President George W. Bush back to Dallas.

Feherty, a former professional golfer who now helps call golf events for CBS, said that troops love former President Bush by contrast, and praised the former commander-in-chief for having prevented additional terrorist attacks during his time in office.

Liberal media watchdog Media Matters for America demanded an apology for the remarks Friday.

"Mr. Feherty's violent comments about Speaker Pelosi and Majority Leader Reid are disgusting," said Media Matters President Eric Burns. "Suggesting that our troops would attack the leaders of the very democracy they've sworn to sacrifice their lives for is an insult to their integrity, honor, and professionalism. CBS Sports should demand its golf analyst apologize to our soldiers."

That Media Matters flack, Erik Burns is probably right, our troops wouldn't attack leaders of our democracy --- but then he errs, and presupposes that anybody recognizes the Wicked Witch of the West, and the pencil necked geek from Nevada as .........'leaders' of anything or anybody!

President Obama voted in the Senate to provide additional funding for a program targeted for elimination by his budget that provides states a federal subsidy to offset the costs of jailing illegal immigrants.

Killing the State Criminal Alien Assistance Program (SCAPP) would save $400 million, according to Obama's budget for fiscal 2010 released Thursday. It's one of the largest non-defense discretionary cuts proposed in the president's budget.

The program is popular with border-state politicians on Capitol Hill, however, making its elimination a tough sell to lawmakers, particularly from California.

Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D-Calif.) has repeatedly pushed for additional funding for the program, and lawmakers from other states that have costs associated with illegal aliens have also offered support.

A bipartisan trio of House members from California have drafted a letter urging the House Appropriations subcommittee on Commerce, Justice, Science and Related Agencies to restore funding for the SCAAP program. The three members, Reps. Mike Honda (D), Adam Schiff (D) and Jerry Lewis, the top Republican on the Appropriations Committee, are also asking the rest of the California House delegation to sign the letter, Honda's office said.

As an Illinois senator, Obama co-sponsored an amendment offered by then-Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton (D-N.Y.), now Obama's secretary of state, that would have provided additional funding for the program. It also would have established a grant program to defray local government healthcare and education costs for non-citizens.

Reporting from Sacramento -- The Obama administration is threatening to rescind billions of dollars in federal stimulus money if Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger and state lawmakers do not restore wage cuts to unionized home healthcare workers approved in February as part of the budget.

Schwarzenegger's office was advised this week by federal health officials that the wage reduction, which will save California $74 million, violates provisions of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act. Failure to revoke the scheduled wage cut before it takes effect July 1 could cost California $6.8 billion in stimulus money, according to state officials.

The wages at issue involve workers who care for some 440,000 low-income disabled and elderly Californians. The workers, who collectively contribute millions of dollars in dues each month to the influential Service Employees International Union and the United Domestic Workers, will see the state's contribution to their wages cut from a maximum of $12.10 per hour to a maximum of $10.10.

The SEIU said in a statement that it had asked the Obama administration for the ruling.

Now then Pilgrims, how about that last sentence -- Time was when such string pulling was done, it was done behind closed doors, but apparently the SEIU sees a benefit (Recruiting?) of boasting about their new White House boy-toy!!!

NEW YORK (Reuters) - The architect of the 1970s financial rescue of New York City said on Wednesday the federal government should create a powerful national agency to bail out dozens of floundering U.S. cities.

Today, scores of cities and states are running billions of dollars of deficits. Some have suspended non-critical services by furloughing workers to save money. California and New York state have raised taxes, unpopular steps in a recession.

Unlike the U.S. government, which can print money to close deficits, states and cities are required to balance their budgets.

(Hot Damn, what a concept!!!)

Rohatyn said hard-pressed state and local governments should be temporarily allowed to run deficits instead of curtailing vital services.

If these governments cannot solve their deficits by themselves, then a national agency could step in, he said. That was how New York state's control board solved the city's budget crisis in the 1970s.

"I think there is a yawning need for a serious look at urban and state problems," Rohatyn said.

Rohatyn recalled that tens of thousands of city workers were laid off in just a few years while subway fares doubled.

The Republican Party is in big trouble and needs to find a way to move back to the middle of the country, former Secretary of State Colin Powell said Monday.

Powell said the GOP is "getting smaller and smaller" and "that's not good for the nation." He also said he hopes that emerging GOP leaders, such as House Minority Whip Cantor, will not keep repeating mantras of the far right.

"The Republican Party is in deep trouble," Powell told corporate security executives at a conference in Washington sponsored by Fortify Software Inc. The party must realize that the country has changed, he said. "Americans do want to pay taxes for services," he said. "Americans are looking for more government in their life, not less."

Here is a guy who rode the tide of affirmative action to the highest tier, rode the waves of the Republican Party to four stars and secretary of state..... probably would have retired as one of thousands of disgruntled lieutenant colonels without them..... and now offers unsolicited advice.

If we were having a conversation, my first question would be; "When were the Republicans in the center?" and then "When the Republicans stick to their conservative base, they win landslide elections -- is that why you'd like to see them in the muddled middle?"

My last question would be; "Do you keep your eyes open when you stand in front of a mirror and shave in the morning?"

Baby given reprieve --- oh, and the Mom too!!

In Laos, a young British gal, 20, has been given a reprieve from the firing squad .... because she is pregnant. She was arrested and convicted of having almost a kilo of heroin in her possession with intent to distribute ---

The normal sentence for such behavior in Laos is death before a Firing Squad, but this gal is getting a reprieve 'cause she got pregnant while in prison.

Bless her heart, good thing she wasn't convicted in the USA, we have no problem with executing a couple of million babies every year!!! Of course, we call it elective abortion.

BTW. doesn't that 'Firing Squad' means of execution sound much more satisfactory than 'Death by Injection' or 'putting the dude to sleep'!!! I wonder if they swab the heart area with alcohol before pulling the trigger like they do here before they insert the needle?

Conservatism - what the Republicans used to be proud to be--

Liberalism - what the Democrats claim to be but ain't by a long shot!

Socialism - what the Democrats have evolved into and are becoming moreso every day under Obamanation and his Chicago cabal and team of tax cheats...

Seems to me that instead of being on this 'talking tour', this group of moderate Republicans should be out here listening to their conservative base and give up on become some brand of Dimmocrat Lite!!

I am truly disappointed in Jeb Bush's comments this weekend --- forget Reagan indeed!!! Wait 'til another true conservative comes along to lead the party and perhaps the GOP will rise again from the ashes of mediocrity!!!

Wacky Warning Label Contest Winner Named

2009 Winners of the Wacky Warning Label Contest have been announced. Now in its 12th year, the internationally known contest is sponsored by the Foundation for Fair Civil Justice. Millions of people around the world are reading stories or watching television news reports about the contest and laugh at how silly the warning labels are.

Bob Dorigo Jones, who developed the contest, explained that behind these silly labels is a serious public policy concern—America’s out-of-whack system of civil justice. The contest reveals how lawsuits and the fear of lawsuits have driven companies to spend millions on common-sense warnings.

This year’s winner is a submission from Steve Shiflett of Hampton, Georgia. The label is attached to a portable toilet seat for outdoorsmen called “The Off-Road Commode” because it is designed to attach to a vehicle’s trailer hitch.

The warning label reads "Not for use on moving vehicles".

Other winners include:

A wart removal product instruction guide that warns, “Do not use if you cannot see clearly to read the information in the information booklet.”

A label on the underside of a cereal bowl warns, “Always use this product with adult supervision.”

A small, 1” x 4” LCD panel warns, “Do not eat the LCD panel.”

And my favorite:
A bag of livestock castration rings warns, “For animal use only.”


“Once a year, millions of people around the world get a collective laugh from our winners,” said Bob Dorigo Jones, contest creator and bestselling author. “The truth is, this is no laughing matter. April deadliest month for US in Iraq in 7 months

In the latest violence, a suicide bomber blew himself up at a restaurant on the reservoir of Iraq's largest dam near the northern city of Mosul. At least five people were killed and 10 wounded, according to U.S. and Iraqi officials.

The spike in attacks has raised concerns that insurgents are stepping up their efforts to re-ignite sectarian bloodshed as well as questions about the readiness of the Iraqis to take over responsibility for their own security as U.S. troops begin to withdraw.

U.S. military spokesman Maj. Gen. David Perkins blamed the recent bombings on al-Qaida in Iraq, saying the terror network is making a push to regain influence, particularly in Baghdad.

"We have had some increase in the number of these high-profile attacks, but nowhere near what we were seeing a year or a year and half ago," he said Friday in a briefing for reporters.

They would have killed a lot of trees to trumpet this headline - count on it!!

The 'Gray Lady' flaunts her expertise.......

The New York Times gave unions at the Boston Globe overnight to negotiate $20 million in concessions....

How great is that! The NY Times bought the Boston Globe for the ginormous amount of $1.1 Billion (for you folks enamored with Obamanations numbers, that would be $1.100,000,000) in 1993. Today's value is reported to be in the low class neighborhood of $20 million.....

Kinda like the Messiah has done to banks and automobile makers..... doncha' know! How far behind do you reckon the NY Times herself is from going down that circling toilet?

Do you reckon that loss of value is from loss of readership and advertising or from folks plumb tired of the paper's Left Wing rhetoric on the front page as well as the editorial page.........? We won't even address those unhappy topics of plagiarism or fictionalized news

Michelle Obama has taken casual to a haute new level.

While volunteering Wednesday at a D.C. food bank, the First Lady sported her usual J.Crew cardigan, a pair of utilitarian capri pants and, on her feet, a sneaky splurge: trainers that go for $540.

That's right: These sneakers - suede, with grosgrain ribbon laces and metallic pink toe caps - are made by French design house Lanvin, one of fashion's hottest labels. They come in denim and satin versions, and have been a brisk seller all spring.

They're out of stock at posh Meatpacking District boutique Jeffrey, and Barneys New York boasts a limited selection of the sneaks, which are a cult favorite among fashionistas.

It's likely Michelle got hers through Ikram, the Chicago retailer that often outfits her.

"They're shoes," the First Lady's reps sniffed when curious reporters inquired about the fancy footwear.

Michelle has stepped out in Lanvin before while getting down to business. A week ago, she shoveled dirt at a tree planting while wearing the line's chiffon tank.

Dresses and strappy pumps cost upward of $1,500, while tops go for $400 to $1,000.

Other celebrity fans of Lanvin's costly kicks include Ellen DeGeneres and Kanye West, who has blogged about his faves.

As the family's primary dog walker, Michelle clearly requires comfortable footwear.
