Too Little --- Too Late?

Ole' Pecoz has been watching with interest and admiration, the movements across the Country to help transport the elderly Veterans of WWII to Washington D.C. to visit the World War II Veterans Memorial recently dedicated. We are losing these Vet's at the rate of 1500 per day, and now the country finally realizes the debt that is owed...

How little! How late! Hold on there Buckaroos, I ain't disparaging those good folks that are doing these good deeds --- but....

I find it both telling, and unsettling, that:

The Vietnam Veteran's Memorial was completed and dedicated by a country with a conscience problem to salve on Nov 13, 1982, just nine years after the Jan 23, 1973 "Peace Accords"

The Korean Veteran's Memorial was completed and dedicated on July 27, 1995, forty-two years after the July 1953 "Cease Fire" was signed..

Here is a picture of a my cousin, "Stan" who served on the USS Hurlbert at Pearly Harbor.... he didn't live long enough to see the Memorial!! How many others did not make it as well?

But it took until May 29, 2004, to complete and dedicate the Memorial to the Veterans of WWII, which ended on VJ Day 2 Sept 1945, Unconditional Victory Day, after a war that cost 300,000 KIA and 700,000 WIA. FORTY-NINE YEARS LATER!

But you didn't see WWII Vets making themselves out as 'victims' and marching in the streets to demand this Memorial!!

Truly - "the GREATEST GENERATION"!

The Law of Unintended Consequences....

Ya'll remember a year or two ago when the animal rights insaniacs convinced a couple of judges in black dresses that killing horses was inhumane? That unlike chickens, cows, piggies, duckies, little lambs, stray dogs and cats, - horsies had some inherent right to live until they dropped dead in some starving farmers field? Well, by golly, they got their wish... now it is illegal to slaughter horses in U.S., federally supervised facilities.
So what's to be done with all those "Black Beauties" and "Flikka's" of modern day .... well, you don't reckon that farmers and ranchers were gonna be able to put them in an old folks home or buy them a rocker for the front porch.....

Horse slaughters taking place on the border
(San Antonio Express-news, Sept 30)
CIUDAD JUÁREZ, Mexico — The American mare swung her head frantically when the door shut to the kill box, trapping her inside. A worker jabbed her in the back with a small knife — seven, eight, nine times.
Eyes wild, she lowered her head and raised it as the blade punctured her body around the withers, again and again.

At the 10th jab, she fell to the floor of this Mexican slaughterhouse, bloodied and paralyzed, but not yet dead. She would lay there a good two minutes before being hoisted from a chained rear leg so her throat could be slit and she could bleed to death.
The primitive procedure at the Ciudad Juárez plant now is the fate of thousands of exported U.S. horses since court rulings closed horse slaughter operations in the United States.
The roan mare was one of nearly 30,000 American horses shipped to Mexican processing plants so far this year, a 369 percent increase from the number recorded this time last year.
By the time she and her unlucky peers were led into this city-owned plant, they typically had traveled in packed trucks 700 miles or more, say the American traders who ship them there.
The lucky ones arrive dead. Many of the others come in "fractured, battered and bruised," said José Cuellar, the plant's veterinarian.

No one disputes that slaughter-bound horses have it far worse today than before U.S. courts, upholding state bans, ended horse slaughter at two plants in Texas earlier this year and at the nation's single remaining one in Illinois on Sept. 21.
Animal welfare advocates who lobbied to end horse slaughter in the United States gambled that Congress would pass legislation by next year barring horses from being exported for slaughter and prohibiting their slaughter in states that don't already ban it.

The rest of the story that the Public Editor of the Express-News, in an accompanying feature column, points out - is that there will now be an outcry to ban exporting the animals. Like that's gonna solve the problem of thousands of excess horses each year.

The wisest head in the bunch, a bona fide animal lover, trained horsewoman and president of the World Cat Congress (whatever in the world that is) said: "This is the fallout, this is the other side of the legislation... horses won't be humanely slaughtered, or they'll be starved to death." She added that prior to this foolishness, horses were killed humanely and the meat shipped to where it was legal and desirable to eat, including zoos.
Anybody want to bet against the animal rights insaniacs will go for the export ban instead of removing the ban on humane, supervised, American meat packing plant operations? Send me your money and save time.........

An apology in Durham

Something very unusual out of Durham, N.C., today, and no, it's not a Duke football victory. Instead, Duke president Richard Brodhead apologized during a speech at the university's law school for failing to support three men's lacrosse players accused of rape in the spring of 2006.
"Given the complexities of this case, getting the communication right would never have been easy," Brodhead said. "But the fact is that we did not get it right, causing the families to feel abandoned when they were most in need of support. This was a mistake. I take responsibility for it and I apologize for it."
What is interesting is just how long the higher-ups at Duke -- notably Brodhead and athletic director Joe Alleva -- have remained silent. There was not much in the form of conciliatory comments when all charges were dropped against Dave Evans, Reade Seligmann and Collin Finnerty this spring.
There always seemed to be a sharp dichotomy between a team that drew attention for its march to the national title game in its first season back and the institution that didn't lend much support (and really, had members of its community help foment a rush to judgment while ignoring a little thing called due process) to this group.
In fact, an equally important part of that story -- covered admirably for the last year-plus by the Associated Press' Aaron Beard -- is as follows:
Brodhead also said the school could have done more to show that some members of Duke's faculty who were openly critical of the lacrosse team did not speak for the university as a whole.
Naturally, Brodhead was not available for further comment.
But at least one of the school's top luminaries finally acknowledged there was more Duke could have done to contain an explosive situation that in the final analysis should never have generated so much attention and vitriol

Ole' Pecoz wonders what happened to the resume's and tenure of those 88 liberal arts professors that signed the letter demanding the ouster of the students, the program and the coach.... none of whom had been convicted of anything! Seems to Ole' PecozBill that perhaps Duke President Broadhead and these other fine upstanding folks ought to submit their resignations in a display of intellectual, collegial, integrity!

Right!! And then the next thing you know, Bubba will admit having sex with that woman! And Hellary will admit her complicity in the Whitewater affair. The Chinese will admit to donating millions to his and her campaigns... oh never mind!

Czech Pres has "been there - done that!!

As the leader of a country that suffered for years under the bootheel of communism and fascism, Czech President Klaus speaks from experience ---- and the world should listen!

Czech President Klaus for modernisation of United Nations
New York- Czech President Vaclav Klaus spoke in favour of modernisation of the United Nations at the General Debate of the 62nd Session of the U.N..
However, he rejected the effort at increasing the ability to act at the expense of pluralism of views.
He said the Czech Republic deserved to be elected a non-permanent member of the U.N. Security Council for 2008-2009.
"I believe that we can be trusted by the majority of Member States and that we do deserve their votes," Klaus said. Klaus stressed that the Czech Republic had been present in the body in 1994-1995.
"We were predictable and committed to hard work," Klaus said. "Now, as President of the Czech Republic I can assure you that we will do even a better job," he added.
The Czech Republic is deeply convinced about the necessity of prevention of and non-violent solution to conflicts, Klaus said.
"This can be proved by our own behavior - by the peaceful dissolution of Czechoslovakia in 1992. Over the last years, we have multiplied our official development assistance," he added.
Klaus spoke in favour of removal of the barriers "that hinder economic progress, especially of developing countries."

The United Nations need changes that should more reflect the current situation in the world than at the time when it was established 62 years ago, Klaus said.
It is a "an extremely important and in fact irreplaceable platform. There is no substitute for it in the current world. It is a platform for meetings and consultations, for dialogue and - eventually - for reaching agreements on treaties among nations sharing the same or similar values and political stances," he added.

"This unique platform is based on the plurality of views of 192 Member States and on our mutual respect towards their, sometimes differing positions. The ambition of the U.N. is not, and should never be, searching for one obligatory, unitary view imposed by some of us on those who disagree," Klaus said.
Klaus said he was against the concept of "global governance," based on the "indefensible idea" that the world can be masterminded, controlled, managed and planned.
"To aspire to do that is something we can never accept," he added.
The efforts at making the decisions in the United Nations easier and faster should not threaten the exchange of views, Klaus said.
"Our communist past tells us that we should not do that. We also want the U.N. to be reasonably operational. But we categorically oppose that it happens at the expense of individual Member States," he added.
Klaus said meaningful activities should be supported, but not programmes that restrict human activities and harm economic development.
"We would help global development more by reducing barriers than by providing more conditional aid," Klaus said.
Klaus reiterated the issue of climate changes, he addressed at the Monday meeting of world statesmen in the United Nations.
"Even this potential problem, as well as any other, can never be solved without relying on freedom, free markets, free trade and other attributes of free society," Klaus said.
"To preserve environment is very important but we have to be more modest in our attempting to control the complexities of the world," he added.

You folks might also be interested to know that President Klaus has equally strong opinions regarding Al Gorebot's chicken little global warming shouts. Totally unsubstantiated hogwash that is being used as political tool to interfere with how independent nations function. He (along with several others) has challenged Gore to a public debate on the subject -- any place, any time! But like all the other challenges, Gorebot just jumps on his Limousine Lear and heads out of town..... Looks like Klaus would knock his ball out of the court as well! Hellery - Mathmatically challenged Candidate....

WASHINGTON (AP) - Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Rodham Clinton said Friday that every child born in the United States should get a $5,000 "baby bond" from the government to help pay for future costs of college or buying a home.
Clinton, her party's front-runner in the 2008 race, made the suggestion during a forum hosted by the
Congressional Black Caucus.
"I like the idea of giving every baby born in America a $5,000 account that will grow over time, so that when that young person turns 18 if they have finished high school they will be able to access it to go to college or maybe they will be able to make that downpayment on their first home," she said.
The New York senator did not offer any estimate of the
total cost of such a program or how she would pay for it. Approximately 4 million babies are born each year in the United States.

Ms Clinton, it's been a long time since I went to grade school, and we didn't have calculators then but I reckon 4 million babies times $5,000 is in the neighborhood of $20,000,000,000! That's with a capital "B" darlin'! A pretty darn expensive neighborhood. I know you said that you would tax the rich to pay for it, but you also said you'd tax the rich to pay for your socialized health program, your education programs, and a half dozen others government programs. Once there ain't no "rich" folks left - they've all been taxed to middle income... what then?

By the way, if we have 15 million illegal aliens here now, how many more pregnant mommas gonna sneak illegally into this country to birth a "natural born U.S. citizen" to pick up their $5000 check?

Update -- Turban Durbin's "DREAM" dies................

Ole' Pecoz recently shared an e-mail bein' sent to to LULAC members to lean on their Senators to vote for the Turban Durbin's DREAM (Development, Relief and Education for Alien Minors) amendment to the Defense Authorization Bill.

I am just pleased as punch to let you know that the liberals failed to nail that dude onto this totally unrelated Bill. But stay tuned .... as La Raza and their spokesperson, Nancy Pelosi, said last night... they'll be back! Pelosi's pledge to, "use every parliamentary tactic" to help pass the amendment!

Smokey and the bandit smokers - bound to happen!

Tennessee Revenoors are cracking down on those dastardly citizens who dare cross the state border to buy cigarettes at a cheaper price.....Tennessee cigarette surveillance program begins today. With states using "sin" taxes to raise revenues for big spending legislatures --- what else did they expect?

Motorists bringing large numbers of smokes into state will be charged
By Tom Humphrey Thursday, September 27, 2007

NASHVILLE — Starting today, state Department of Revenue agents will begin stopping Tennessee motorists spotted buying large quantities of cigarettes in border states, then charging them with a crime and, in some cases, seizing their cars.
Critics say the new “cigarette surveillance program” amounts to the use of “police state” tactics and wrongfully interferes with interstate commerce. But state Revenue Commissioner Reagan Farr says his department is simply doing its job, enforcing a valid state law while protecting Tennessee retailers who properly pay state taxes.
Agents have already been watching out-of-state stores that sell cigarettes near the Tennessee border to “get a feel where problem areas are,” Farr said.
While declining to be specific, the commissioner said “problem areas” are generally along interstate highways with exits near the Tennessee border.
The idea is for the monitoring agent to spot a person buying cigarettes in volume at an out-of-state market, then departing in a vehicle with Tennessee license tags. Starting today, monitoring agents spotting such a suspect will call an arresting agent who will stop the car when it enters Tennessee, he said.
The agents will work “in roving teams at random times,” he said.
“This shows once again that Reagan Farr and the Department of Revenue are more interested in turning Tennessee into a police state than doing their job of collecting taxes,” said Drew Johnson, president of the Tennessee Center for Policy Research.
Farr said the program is partly an “education initiative” to make people aware of tobacco tax provisions in state law and a response to complaints from Tennessee tobacco retailers about “streams of Tennessee license plates crossing the border” from out-of-state retailers.
“I don’t think (Johnson) or anyone else wants to see the commissioner of revenue deciding which laws passed by the Tennessee Legislature to enforce and which not to enforce,” Farr said. “If that were the case, they (legislators) could just tell the commissioner ‘get me $11 billion’ wherever you think best.”
Tennessee’s cigarette tax went from 20 cents per pack to 62 cents per pack effective July 1. All eight states that border Tennessee have lower tax rates, meaning smokers can save up to 45 cents per pack — $4.50 for a 10-pack carton — by purchasing out of state.
The border states with the lowest cigarette taxes are Missouri with 17 cents and Mississippi at 18 cents. The highest is Arkansas with 59 cents.
Kentucky and Virginia both tax cigarettes at 30 cents a pack, North Carolina at 35 cents, Georgia at 37 cents and Alabama at 42.5 cents.
Under state law, bringing more than two cartons of cigarettes into the state without paying Tennessee taxes is a “Class B” misdemeanor, carrying punishment of up to six months in jail and/or a $500 fine. Bringing 25 or more cartons is a “Class E” felony, with minimum penalty of one year in prison and a maximum of six years plus a fine of up to $3,000.
In addition, the specific state statute dealing with untaxed cigarettes provides that vehicles used to transport more than two cartons “are considered contraband and are subject to seizure,” says a Department of Revenue statement.
Farr said that agents have been instructed to seize any vehicle carrying more than 25 cartons of cigarettes without Tennessee tax stamps. In cases where three to 24 cartons are involved, he said vehicle seizure is “at the officer’s discretion.”
Rep. Stacey Campfield, R-Knoxville, said he sees inconsistency in the enforcement program.
“This administration has been very willing to turn a blind eye to illegal aliens pouring into our state, yet, when a natural Tennessean brings a couple of cartons of smokes across the state line, they want to arrest them,” Campfield said.
He and Johnson both said the program appears to involve the state in interstate commerce, an area where the federal government is granted sole authority by the U.S. Constitution. Johnson said he hopes an arrested motorist will file a lawsuit against the program, and further predicted the state would lose.
Farr said the program does not run afoul of federal restrictions on state interference with interstate commerce.
“We’re not regulating the purchase of anything in another state,” he said. “We’re regulating the possession of contraband in Tennessee.”

Even "Snopes" loves this story.......

~ DESKS ~

Back in September of 2005, on the first day of school, Martha Cothren, a social studies school teacher at Robinson High School in Little Rock, did something not to be forgotten. On the first day of school, with the permission of the school superintendent, the principal and the building supervisor, she removed all of the desks out of her classroom.

When the first period kids entered the room they discovered that there were no desks. Looking around, confused, they asked, 'Ms. Cothren, where are our desks?' She replied, 'You can't have a desk until you tell me what you have done to earn the right to sit at a desk.' They thought, 'Well, maybe it's our grades.' 'No,' she said. 'Maybe it's our behavior.' She told them, 'No, it's not even your behavior.'* And so, they came and went, the first period, second period, third period. Still no desks in the classroom. By early afternoon television news crews had started gathering in Ms. Cothren's classroom to report about this crazy teacher who had taken all the desks out of her room.

The final period of the day came and as the puzzled students found seats on the floor of the deskless classroom. Martha Cothren said, 'Throughout the day no one has been able to tell me just what he/she has done to earn the right to sit at the desks that are ordinarily found in this classroom. Now I am going to tell you.'

At this point, Martha Cothren went over to the door of her classroom and opened it.Twenty-seven (27) U.S. Veterans, all in uniforms, walked into that classroom, each one carrying a school desk. The Vets began placing the school desks in rows, and then they would walk over and stand alongside the wall. By the time the last soldier had set the final desk in place those kids started to understand, perhaps for the first time in their lives, just how the right to sit at those desks had been earned.

Martha said, 'You didn't earn the right to sit at these desks. These heroes did it for you. They placed the desks here for you. Now, it's up to you to sit in them. It is your responsibility to learn, to be good students, to be good citizens. They paid the price so that you could have the freedom to get an education. Don't ever forget it.'

By the way, this is a true story.... If you can read this, Thank a teacher . If you read it in English , Thank a soldier

(You can bet Ole' Pecoz checked this story out with Snopes before sharing with y'all! And even old hard hearted Snopes loved it! Check for your own self! I owe a 'tip of the hat to an ole' Air Force Chum, Syd, for bringing this to my attention)

Lord help us...............SHE'S BACKKKKKK!!!

Small wonder he's being forced to retire.......

Highly decorated, Four Star Marine General Peter Pace is being forced to retire after just one term as Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff! Why, one might wonder, would the U.S. Senate force President Bush to make this decision... Ole' Pecozbill can give you one of the major reasons in one sentence;

General Peter Pace stands on his feet and states his personal beliefs, and the law of the land, not the politically correct pap of the Senate liberals.

"Are there wonderful Americans who happen to be homosexual serving in the military? Yes," he told the Senate Appropriations Committee during a hearing focused on the Pentagon's 2008 war spending request.
"We need to be very precise then, about what I said wearing my stars and being very conscious of it," he added. "And that is, very simply, that we should respect those who want to serve the nation but not through the law of the land, condone activity that, in my upbringing, is counter to God's law."

"I would be very willing and able and supportive" to changes to the policy "to continue to allow the homosexual community to contribute to the nation without condoning what I believe to be activity - whether it to be heterosexual or homosexual - that in my upbringing is not right," Pace said.

During his appearance before the Senate Appropriations Committee, he was attacked and berated by that bastion of the limousine liberals, Tom Harkin. Seated safely behind the raised thrones senators use to elevate their position, literally - not figuratively, he came after the good General repeatedly. When, toward the conclusion of this shameful exchange, General Pace pointed out that homosexual activity and adultery both are violations of the Uniform Code of Military Justice.... Harkins parting inglorious shot was; "Well, then, maybe we should change that."

How scary is that????

From S. Utah "Spectrum"... Joint Task Force Formed...

I may just be an Ole' Country boy, but from their name, it sure sounds to me like this Utah group ought to be look'n into abuse of marijuana instead of meth...

"Meth drug awareness campaign launched by joint committee

ST. GEORGE - On Monday afternoon at the Dixie Center the Utah Association of Counties and Utah Methamphetamine Joint Task Force presented a new public awareness campaign for methamphetamine - "End Meth Now."

When Gov. Jon Huntsman Jr. saw the results of what meth does to people he decided to push forward with a campaign of awareness. Huntsman presented the meth awareness campaign in Salt Lake City on Monday.
Although he didn't make it to the meeting at the Dixie Center he had several representatives there to deliver his message.

Where were you on September, 1983? This is scary!

Sept. 26, 1983: The Man Who Saved the World by Doing....Nothing!
By Tony Long 09.26.07

Lt. Col. Stanislav Petrov prevented a Soviet retaliation against the United States by detecting a satellite error. Photo: Gyori Antoine / Corbis
1983: A Soviet ballistics officer draws the right conclusion -- that a satellite report indicating incoming U.S. nuclear missiles is, in fact, a false alarm -- thereby averting a potential nuclear holocaust.
Lt. Col. Stanislav Petrov was duty officer at Serpukhov-15, the secret bunker outside Moscow that monitored the Soviet Union's early-warning satellite system, when the
alarm bells went off shortly after midnight. One of the satellites signaled Moscow that the United States had launched five ballistic missiles at Russia.
Given the heightened tensions between the two countries -- the alarm coincided with the beginning of provocative NATO military exercises and barely three weeks after the Russians shot down a South Korean airliner that had wandered into Soviet air space -- Petrov could have been forgiven for believing the signal was accurate. The electronic maps flashing around him didn't do anything to ease the stress of the moment.
But Petrov smelled a rat. "I had a funny feeling in my gut" that this was a false alarm. For one thing, the report indicated that only five missiles had been fired. Had the United States been launching an actual nuclear attack, he reasoned, ICBMs would be raining down on them.
"I didn't want to make a mistake. I made a decision, and that was it." Petrov's gut feeling was due in large part to his lack of faith in the Soviet early-warning system, which he subsequently described as "raw." He reported it as a false alarm to his superiors, and hoped to hell he was right.
Petrov was initially praised for his cool head but later came under criticism and was, for a while, made the scapegoat for the false alarm. Further investigation, however, found that the satellite in question had picked up the sun's reflection off the cloud tops and somehow interpreted that as a missile launch.

Petrov lives today on his army pension in a village outside of Moscow.

Before we leave September ... in memorium...

September 11th, 2001
Never Forget
The sky in New York was autumn azure blue
Cloudless and serene,
A September day for photographers
Skylines on their screen.
A puff of smoke - then a splash of fire
A hit on Tower One,
Minutes later we watched with mouths agape
A world war begun!
Then the Pentagon - no, it can't be done
A targeted burning mass,
Apparently alternative target two
To an insane Capital crash.
The Pittsburgh airplane - to be missile four
Who's heroic folks on board
Gave up their lives and died before
Into the White house their plane roared.
Those who know me might expect
"Nuke 'em until they glow!"
I think that that is not the answer
Let's breathe deep and take it slow.
We are a civilized land of laws
Thus, when all is done and said,
Let's carefully track each person down
And castrate them in their bed!

Y'all have seen pics of Cindy "Clueless" Sheehan with Chavez but,...

We can understand that Ms Ditz Mother of America, Cindy Sheehan, would chill with Hugo Chavez..... let's face it - she makes Ms Teen South Carolina look like Madame Curie in the brains department. You've seen their love-in pictures enough, so I ain't gonna post it here again.

But what really makes the hair in my ears turn curly, is the whip snappin' stupidity of folks who ought to know better. Sean Penn ain't never gonna make it to the moon 'cept'n as a paying passenger - no rocket scientist he; but even he has to know when he's being used! Ain't it amazin' that Chavez always has a royal photographer at hand for these private sessions. And ain't it amazin' that those pictures end up in all the rags the next day with appropriate quotes.

Same goes for Kevin Spacey, another aptly named space cadet! Celebrities like them must have somebody in their posse's who could stand up on their hind legs and say' "Whoa dude, that Chavez is playing you like a three string fiddle. The only thing you bring to the party is yur celebrity!!" Maybe not, maybe these twits actually believe that Chavez let's 'em hang around so he can learn something from him..... NOT! Then again, Monica probably thought Bubba admired her for her thoughts on foreign policy. The purpose these guys play for Chavez ain't all that different from Monica's.......

Just in case you wondered........

When the new liberal gov'nor of New Yawk State just declared that New York State drivers licenses will be issued to ILLEGAL ALIENS without regard to their status -- Ole Pecoz got to wonderin', just how common is this sanctuary foolishness nowadays? Just in case that you doubting Thomas's think Ole' Pecoz would try to pull that wool sombrero over your eyes - I'm gonna do a cut and paste of a report prepared by the Congressional Research Service (CRS) for Congress August '06. Read the list, then study on my follow-up question:

85 Cities and counties currently that have sanctuary policies are;
Anchorage, AK, Fairbanks, AK, Chandler, AZ, Fresno, CA, Los Angeles, CA, San Diego, CA, San Francisco, CA, Sonoma County, CA, Evanston, IL, Cicero, IL, Cambridge, MA, Orleans, MA, Portland, ME, Baltimore, MD, Takoma Park, MD, Ann Arbor, MI, Detroit, MI, Minneapolis, MN, Durham, NC, Albuquerque, NM, Aztec, NM, Rio Arriba, County, NM, Sante Fe, NM, New York, NY, Ashland, OR, Gaston, OR, Marion County, OR, Austin, TX, Houston, TX, Katy, TX, Seattle, WA, and Madison, WI.
86 H.J.Res. 22, 23rd Leg., 1st sess., (Ak. 2003).
87 Or. Rev. Stat. §181.850.
Selected Issues
In addition to the legal complexities that may arise with respect to utilizing state
and local law enforcement to enforce immigration law, several additional issues have
been noted.
Sanctuary States and Cities
According to proponents, the movement to provide coverage for unauthorized
aliens stems from the belief that the enforcement of immigration law is the
responsibility of federal authorities, and that state resources should not be used for
this purpose. Some view these policies to be at odds with §642 of IIRIRA, which
permits the sharing of information between agencies and requires state and local
agencies to share information with INS and prohibits

Okay - you folks ready for the big question? The big example up there is New York, NY, who we have all heard whine 'cause they don't get a bigger piece of the pie! After you've cogitated on the answer, why don't you act on your feelings and pick up that phone or put those magic e-mail fingers to work?

WHY SHOULD THE U.S. GOVERNMENT SEND ONE DAMN CENT OF OUR HOMELAND SECURITY TAX DOLLARS TO ANY ONE OF THESE LOCAL GOVERNMENTS THAT INVITE ILLEGAL LAW BREAKERS AND THE ALIEN TERRORISTS AMONG THEM TO "COME AND SIT A SPELL"?

Say it ain't so, GI Joe!!!

G.I. Joe to Become Global Task Force in Movie
By Catherine Donaldson-Evans (Fox News)

Say it ain't so, G.I. Joe.
The popular all-American comic-book military man and action figure dating back to the 1940s is undergoing a significant transformation for the Paramount Pictures-distributed "G.I. Joe" film, which begins production in February and is scheduled for release in summer 2009.
No longer will G.I. Joe be a U.S. Special Forces soldier, the "Real American Hero" who, in his glory days, single-handedly won World War II.
In the politically correct new millennium, G.I. Joe bears no resemblance to the original.

Paramount has confirmed that in the movie, the name G.I. Joe will become an acronym for "Global Integrated Joint Operating Entity" — an international, coed task force charged with defeating bad guys. It will no longer stand for government issued, as in issued by the American government.

The studio won't elaborate, saying filming hasn't begun and details are still in the works, but the behind-the-scenes rumblings are that the producers have decided to change the nature of G.I. Joe in order to appeal to a wider, more international audience.
The word is that in the current political climate, they're afraid that a heroic U.S. soldier won't fly.
Joe's transformation, however, isn't sitting well with die hard fans and military types.
"I find it outrageous that they'd want to drop everything American" from the character, said conservative blogger Warner Todd Huston, who wrote about the rumors this week on Newsbusters.org and his own
blog. "That's nuts."
Retired Army Col. David W. Hunt, a FOX News military and terrorism analyst, called the scheme to make a whole new Joe "a shame."
"G.I. Joe is a U.S. guy," Hunt said. "What are we going to call it — Global Joe? International Joe? It's kind of stupid. It's ridiculous that they're doing that."

What's next? RAMBO VI becomes Randomly Assembled Military Barracks Outcast? Give me a break.... political correctness goes berserk!!!!

Keep your eye upon the donut?

Apparently the powers that be have decided that the Senior Citizens Center up in Putnam County NY, should be a donut free zone! For years, local bakeries and food distributors have delivered complimentary day old donuts and cakes. But alas no more! Folks are fired up, pointing out that they are eighty - not eight years old!
Optimist's Creed
As you ramble on through life, Brother
Whatever be your goal,
Keep your eye upon the donut
And not upon the hole!!
Power to the Seasoned Citizens -- May they always remain optimists!

Say what????

Don't know how many of you watched Hellery's Sunday morning marathon "Talk-in" yestidy, but she sure did show her command of the language. I'll bet she was a varsity player on her Dodge Ball Teams in school!!
The question from Georgie, Bubba's water boy, was; "Will you withdraw all troops from Iraq during a first term as president?"

Hellery responded; "You know, I'm not going to get into hypotheticals and make pledges, because I don't know what I'm going to inherit. George, I don't know and neither do any of us know what will be the situation in the region. How much more aggressive will Iran have become? What will be happening in the Middle East? How much more of an influence will the chaos in Iraq have in terms of what's going on in the greater region? Will we have pushed al-Qaida in Iraq out of their strongholds with our new partnership with some of the tribal sheiks or will they have regrouped and retrenched?"

I think what all that means is ---- I don't know! Sure took the scenic route to get there didn't she... Bye the bye, I thought her position was that there is no al-Quaida in Iraq and never has been...? Shucks, now she's gone and confused me!

New York Times Says It Violated Policies Over MoveOn Ad
By Howard KurtzWashington Post Staff WriterMonday, September 24, 2007; A08

After two weeks of denials, the New York Times acknowledged that it should not have given a discount to MoveOn.org for a full-page advertisement assailing Gen. David H. Petraeus.
The liberal advocacy group should have paid $142,000 for the ad calling the U.S. commander in
Iraq "General Betray Us," not $65,000, the paper's public editor wrote yesterday.
Clark Hoyt said in his column that MoveOn was not entitled to the cheaper "standby" rate for advertising that can run any time over the following week because the Times did promise that the ad would run Sept. 10, the day Petraeus began his congressional testimony. "We made a mistake," Times spokeswoman Catherine Mathis was quoted as saying.
MoveOn, saying it had no reason to believe it was paying "anything other than the normal and usual charge," said yesterday that it would send the Times $77,000 to make up the difference.
The Times also violated its own advertising policy, which bars "attacks of a personal nature," Hoyt reported. He wrote that the episode "gave fresh ammunition to a cottage industry that loves to bash The Times as a bastion of the 'liberal media.' "
Many Republicans have seemed to prefer talking about MoveOn's ad rather than the war itself.
On Thursday,
President Bush called the ad "disgusting," saying that "most Democrats . . . are more afraid of irritating [MoveOn] than they are of irritating the United States military."
On Friday, the Senate voted 75 to 25 to denounce the ad.
Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton (N.Y.), the Democratic presidential front-runner, was questioned repeatedly about the ad yesterday while taping interviews with all five Sunday talk shows.
Clinton said she did not approve of personal attacks from any quarter but avoided criticizing MoveOn by name.
The group told its 3 million members by e-mail that some might think "the language went too far. . . . But make no mistake: this is much bigger than one ad."

If any of you pilgrims believe that Moveon.org sent that additional $77,000 just out of the goodness of their heart and desire to right a wrong, leave a message with your phone number - I've got some land near the everglades I'll sell you!

Word for the day; "synecdoche" !

What does it mean -- hell - Ole Pecoz has looked it up in the dictionary , Googled it, and read it a half dozen times in reference to the wussy administration of Columbia University's invite to the flamin' jihadist, beheader, kidnapper of American hostages, Ahmadinejad, and I still don't understand it!

Here's what the dictionary says: : a figure of speech by which a part is put for the whole (as fifty sail for fifty ships), the whole for a part (as society for high society), the species for the genus (as cutthroat for assassin), the genus for the species (as a creature for a man), or the name of the material for the thing made (as boards for stage)

And here's what ole Bill Kristol, editor of The Weekly Standard, says:
"Actually, this is a liberal university president at his stupidest. As Powerline's Scott Johnson put it, "Columbia's prattle about free speech may be a tale told by an idiot, but it signifies something. And President Bollinger is a fool who is not excused from the dishonor he brings to his institution and his fellow citizens by the fact that he doesn't know what he is doing."Meanwhile: As Columbia welcomes Ahmadinejad to campus, Columbia students who want to serve their country cannot enroll in the Reserve Officers Training Corps (ROTC) at Columbia. Columbia students who want to enroll in ROTC must travel to other universities to fulfill their obligations. ROTC has been banned from the Columbia campus since 1969. In 2003, a majority of polled Columbia students supported reinstating ROTC on campus. But in 2005, when the Columbia faculty senate debated the issue, President Bollinger joined the opponents in defeating the effort to invite ROTC back on campus.A perfect synecdoche for too much of American higher education: they are friendlier to Ahmadinejad than to the U.S. military."

The Columbia Dean says: If Adolph Hitler came here and wanted a platform -- we would give him one......

So once again, I 'fess up that I am clueless! But it sure does sound like a typical IVY league school once again show'n their ass to the the Citizens of these here United States and their hearts to our enemies... go figure!
Just for the heck of it, why don't you e-mail your congressman or senator and ask how many American tax dollars go to to Columbia U. in New York City each year? Then come back here and comment and share that number.....

CICADA QUESTION???

Jes' a little public service announcement for my friends...

Time flies, and it's been almost five years since you registered your telephone number on the Fed's "Do Not Call" list. You might want to check it out and renew it. They make it plumb easy; just go to www.donotcall.gov and click on the "Verify a Registration" button. I did it this morning, took all of five seconds to find out that I don't 'expire' until next June. Reckon I was not only a late bloomer, but was also a late do not call registrant.
By the way -- there was some doubt - but ain't no more, while you are there renewing your do not call registration for your landline - you can register your cell phone now as well. The companies haven't sold any lists yet - but - the price is right - why worry? Do it now. BTW, you can do it by telephone as well @ #888-382-1222 (but they'll probably want you to hit #1 for English and ruin your day....

Y'all have a nice weekend now , hear?

Surprise - Surprise Y'all

What do you know --- Alan Greenspan came out of his coffin to pimp his new book,... and then to help sell a few extra copies decided (or his ghost sidekick did) to lay some badmouth on young George W! Yeah, that same President that honored him with appointments to his job and that Gold Medal, which he accepted unabashedly. Is that a surprise? Nah, that's how those piranhas inside the beltway make a living.

The real big surprise, the Democrat's Towel Boy on NBC, Tim Russert, all of a sudden found room on this Sunday morning's program -- "Meet The Demo's Depressed", for Greenspan's peddling and for a special guest... you guessed it -- Hellary her own self, loves Greenspan's new 'tude and will bare her breast to a grinding interview by Timmy the Thuck up! If she doesn't choke on a soft ball right up the middle, she and her new found friend Mr Greenjeans, might just make it through early service on Sunday morning! Here's a riddle: When was the last time you saw Hellery stand before a free, open and uncontrolled press conference? Who said NEVER! You da winner boy!

You can bet Ole' Pecoz will be there watching Sunday morning ......NOT!! It's a shame that a man like Greenspan, who had earned the respect of the Nation and both parties during his long career , decided to become a streetwalker in his dotage...... a cry'n shame!

A Good Wife.............

Would your wife do this for you.............???

...........?

I hate to make light of a man's death, but....

It might not be a bad thing that this young feller ain't never gonna be contributing to the worlds gene pool --- Darwin lives!!

When dreams become nightmares....

Here is the Internet call to action by LULAC (Latin American League After Control) for all illegal aliens to call, write and e-mail OUR elected representatives to encourage them to vote yes for the "DREAM" amendment. Please note that Senator "Turban" Durban has offered this amendment to the DOD Defense Authorization Bill. Not exactly a related bill .... but one he and his twinky gobbling, liberal, limp wristed U.S. hating friends hope that President Bush wouldn't dare veto!

LULAC's Call to action.....
"Senate Expected to Vote on the DREAM Act.
Immediate Action Must be Taken! LULAC Calls on Bipartisan Support to Make This DREAM a Reality !
The Senate has introduced the DREAM Act as an amendment to H.R. 1585, the Department of Defense Authorization bill. Senators Richard Durbin (D-IL) .....announced last week that S. 774, a bill that was originally introduced back in March, would be added as a provision to the DOD Authorization bill. The provisions of the DREAM Amendment are expected to be identical to S.774.
IMMEDIATE ACTION IS NEEDED
If passed, the amendment would provide a six year path to permanent residency and an eventual citizenship for millions of undocumented children and students if they graduate from high school and continue on to college or the military. The Amendment needs 60 votes to be adopted and its passage would be a monumental leap forward to finally passing the DREAM Act, but this amendment must be adopted first."

Question? When did the word "illegal" get changed to "undocumented" in the dictionary? This bill offers amnesty, cut rate tuition's (less than your kids pay) to American Colleges, and a path to citizenship ahead of those who stood in line to enter this country legally!. Ole' Pecoz realizes that you probably can't e-mail or call in Spanish... but do it in English just in case they have an interpreter who understands our language! As a side note - be aware that Turban Durbin offered this same amendment to the failed Shamnesty Bill that failed in July! This is just a ressurection of the same bovine excretions.....

THIS WEEK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Whee Doggies.... you go dudes!!!!!

Y'a just gotta be hot .....

Senate Condemns General Betray Us Ad
Thursday, September 20, 2007 3:57 PM

"The Senate voted Thursday to condemn an advertisement by the liberal anti-war group MoveOn.org that accused the top military commander in Iraq of betrayal.
The 72-25 vote condemned the full-page ad that appeared in The New York Times last week as Gen. David Petraeus, the top military commander in Iraq, testified on Capitol Hill. The ad was headlined: ''General Petraeus or General Betray Us? Cooking the books for the White House.''
The ad became a life raft for the Republican party as the war debate kicked into high gear. With several Republicans opposed to President Bush's war strategy, GOP members were able to put aside their differences and rally around their disapproval of the ad.
Sen. Gordon Smith, one of the few Republican senators who supports legislation ordering troop withdrawals, told reporters Thursday he thought Petraeus' testimony and the MoveOn.org ad were the two biggest factors in keeping Republicans from breaking ranks with the president: Petraeus' testimony because it was persuasive and the MoveOn add because it went too far by attacking a popular uniformed officer.
''It was stupid on their part and disgraceful,'' said Smith, R-Ore.
The resolution condemning the ad was sponsored by conservative Republican John Cornyn of Texas. Voting against it were Democratic presidential hopefuls Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton of New York and Christopher Dodd of Connecticut.
Sen. Barack Obama of Illinois, another contender for the Democratic nomination, did not vote, although he voted minutes earlier for an alternative resolution
by Sen. Barbara Boxer, D-Calif. That resolution condemned the MoveOn ad as an ''unwarranted personal attack,'' but also condemned political attack ads that questioned the patriotism of Sen. John Kerry, D-Mass., and former Sen. Max Cleland, D-Ga., both Vietnam veterans.
In a news conference, President Bush denounced the ad as ''disgusting'' and criticized Democrats for not immediately condemning it.
''And that leads me to come to this conclusion: that most Democrats are afraid of irritating a left-wing group like MoveOn.org, or more afraid of irritating them, then they are of irritating the United States military,'' Bush said Thursday. "

So if you are a Democrat, you pays yer money and you takes yer choice: Do you vote for Hellery who was more afraid of Moveon.org than offending the U.S. Military, or do you vote for Barack Hussain Obama who was just too scared to vote either way and get his name on the record? Not much of choice I reckon!!

Now here is a REAL litmus test.......

on the backbone of our New York and Federal Governments......

Iranian president intends to visit Ground Zero
Iranian mission says he'll go despite NYPD rejection

(New York - WABC, September 19, 2007) - Iranian president Mahmoud Ahmadinejad requested to visit Ground Zero during an upcoming trip to New York. That request was rejected Wednesday. But a source tells Eyewitness News that the decision may not stop him.
A law enforcement source says the Iranian mission to the United Nations has informed the Secret Service that the Iranian president intends to visit Ground Zero Monday at 10 a.m.
The source says regardless of the NYPD's rejection of the request for a Ground Zero tour, Iran's president and his entourage will be accompanied by a Secret Service protective detail, a detail provided to all heads of state when they visit the United States.
The Iranian mission to the United Nations made the initial request to the NYPD and the Secret Service, who will jointly oversee security during the president's two-day visit.
Ahmadinejad is scheduled to arrive September 24 to speak to the U.N. General Assembly, as the Security Council decides whether to increase sanctions against Iran for its uranium enrichment program.
Police Commissioner Ray Kelly said the NYPD and Secret Service were in discussions with the Iranian mission about the logistics for the possible visit to the World Trade Center site.
"There has been some interest expressed in his visiting the area," Kelly said. "It's something that we are prepared to handle if in fact it does happen."
The request was rejected Wednesday afternoon in a meeting which included NYPD, Secret Service and Port Authority officials, who said the site is closed to visitors because of construction. They said requests for the Iranian president to visit the immediate area would also be opposed by the NYPD on security grounds.
Kelly said that Ahmadinejad had not indicated why he wants to visit the site of the terrorist attacks of September 11th.

Mayor Rudy Giuliani released the following statement on Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad:
"Under no circumstances should the NYPD or any other American authority assist President Ahmadinejad in visiting Ground Zero. This is a man who has made threats against America and Israel, is harboring bin Laden's son and other al-Qaeda leaders, is shipping arms to Iraqi insurgents and is pursuing the development of nuclear weapons. Assisting Ahmadinejad in touring Ground Zero - hallowed ground for all Americans - is outrageous."

Senator Hillary Clinton released the following statement:
"It is unacceptable for Iranian President Ahmadinejad, who refuses to renounce and end his own country's support of terrorism, to visit the site of the deadliest terrorist attack on American soil in our nation's history."

Ole' Pecoz will hold his fire - until he sees how them gub'mint folks handle this. We may have to give those firebombing, head hacking, jihadist terrorists a meeting house at the United Nations, but we damn sure don't got to act as tourist guides while they come to review their work and gloat in front of the world's cameras.. !! Ain't no, I say NO, reason on God's green earth, diplomatic, treaty or otherwise, why this rag headed cannibal should be allowed on that hallowed ground!
